Let's Robot is focused on making mass media more interactive by using robotics. We create robots that live-stream video to the internet where people can use sites like Twitch.tv to control them. 

If you are familiar with video live-streaming, or have an interest in combining robotics and media, then this could be a good chance to get some experience and work in a new frontier. 

My name is Jill, and I am the founder of Let's Robot. We are a small early stage start-up with a small amount of funding from investors and advisors with Sand Hill Angels and other well known groups in the bay area. Right now I am trying to stay on track to both launch a Kick-Starter in Spring, and raise a more substantial amount of cash for the Summer. We'll likely also be looking at getting into an accelerator for the summer as well. 

I work with multiple resources both locally and remotely. Right now i have a great need for someone with amazing organizational skills to help me manage resources and projects. I am looking for someone who can dedicate consistent time, either part time or full time. 

You would be working directly with me. I am long time creative industry veteran who has previously worked at companies like Disney Interactive. 

Required Skills you will need:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with managing people and projects.
  • Knowledge of video production, live-streaming, or some form of interactive media.
  • Ability to listen and follow directions. 
  • Extremely good organizational skills with an eye for detail. 

Any experience with with design, programming, art, or any other supplementary skill is a big plus. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Helping me organize and produce content for our live-stream channel on Twitch, http://twitch.tv/letsrobot
  • Babysit robots controlled by the internet, replace batteries, engage users, etc...
  • Help us engage with social media and our growing community, especially during our broadcasts
  • Mail out prizes from channel give-aways
  • Help with organizing Kickstarter campaign
  • General research and task / date tracking
  • Random stuff I don't have time to do myself.
  • Helping us find a new workshop / studio space.

Right now we have about 2 weeks left in our current office in downtown Oakland, and I am still looking for a new place. I may have to work out of my house on Potrero Hill in San Francisco for a little while while we find a more suitable location to set up the workshop. 

The right person could be brought on to a more long term position after the internship period. Long term would include some equity at this stage, and maybe even getting paid if we can stick to our plan.

Program Overview   

Partnerships for Trauma Recovery (PTR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to healing trauma among international survivors of human rights abuses. PTR joins the movement to reduce the global mental health gap by addressing the psychosocial impacts of trauma caused by war, torture, forced displacement, human trafficking and persecution due to identity and beliefs. At our Bay Area-based Mosaic Healing Center, we draw on synergies among the core components of our model to: (a) Provide culturally aware, trauma-informed and contextually adapted mental health care for refugees, asylees, asylum seekers and human trafficking survivors, (b) Expand clinical capacity to serve these populations, and (c) Advocate for policies to prevent trauma and re-traumatization.   

With combined expertise gained through over twenty years of providing clinical services to survivors of war trauma, torture and persecution, and in-depth experience implementing international human rights programming, our team integrates the fields of global mental health and human rights to expand the range – and increase the depth – of psychosocial support for this highly vulnerable population.

Position   

PTR is recruiting a 20-hour per week Human Rights and Refugee Trauma Outreach and Admin Volunteer that will be working directly with our Executive Director. This position is an exciting opportunity to be part of a nonprofit organization working at the nexus of the fields of mental health and human rights. Reporting to, and working in close collaboration with, the Executive Director, the Human Rights and Refugee Trauma Outreach and Admin Volunteer will gain experience in programmatic and administrative aspects of a nonprofit. Specific projects will vary depending upon organizational needs and volunteer’s skills and strengths. Priority responsibilities will involve: administration, research, writing, and communication.    

 

Roles and Responsibilities    

· Administrative – Organizing, maintaining and purchasing office supplies, scheduling appointment for the Executive Director, drafting emails, welcoming clients as they arrive, mailing documents, and running errands.  

· Research and Writing – Developing fact sheets and other outreach and research materials.

· Communications – If candidate has experience with social media, help PTR build its public profile on facebook, twitter, etc. in collaboration with outside web design consultant. 

· Outreach, Creative Initiative and General Organizational Support – As a startup nonprofit, PTR provides volunteers the opportunity to resourcefully brainstorm about creative ways to grow the organization.  

 

Qualifications  

· Nonprofit sector experience and a passion for working for social change and human rights. 

· Experience conducting research and writing and an ability to absorb and communicate new information effectively. 

· Solid written and oral communication skills, with an ability to write clearly · Maturity, passion, initiative and an ability to creatively problem-solve and work collaboratively with staff and other volunteers. 

·  Excellent organizational skills. Self-discipline in meeting deadlines for deliverables. 

· Comfort with computers including Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet. 

· Desired: Social media and communication outreach experience.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Music Therapist/Activity Leader

The Music Therapist / Activity Leader works as a team member to provide professional Music Therapy services for large and small groups. Music is integrated into the daily activity program. There are ample opportunities to use therapy skills plus musical talent throughout the day as follows:

Morning sing-a-longs

Drumming groups

Song writing activities

Specialized groups with participants living with dementia

Music and reminiscing

Playing musical instruments--Rosener House has a Steinway piano

Creative interventions to provide positive engagement and support

Rosener House is a Certified Music and Memory program As a member of the Activity Team, the Music Therapist will also provide other social, educational activities in a busy, lively, positive environment in a renowned, state-of-the-art adult day center.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Creativity, sense of humor, enthusiasm and patience are required as is sensitivity to the needs of older adults with challenges

Experience with physical and cognitive disabilities including Alzheimer's disease, and previous work in a day program or recreation/health field preferred

Must be able to work as a team player, lead large and small group activities

Follow written and oral directions, multi-task and prioritize

Be willing to provide occasional personal care assistance with activities of daily living (e.g. restroom and dressing needs)

Ÿ Be trained and prepared to implement emergency procedures for group or

individuals; CPR and First Aid training required

Ÿ Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Rosener House staff must constantly be aware of participant safety because of the cognitive and/or physical limitations of the participants. The Music Therapist/Activity Leader must have the ability to:

Monitor/observe participant movements and behaviors within confined and broad spaces and intervene in order to ensure participant safety

Assist participants from sitting to standing/ standing to sitting positions

Transfer participants from wheelchair(s) to chair(s)

Assist participants with walking to minimize risk of falling

Assist during meals (carry trays to tables and ensure the meals are distributed in accordance with any dietary restrictions etc.)

Provide personal care assistance with activities of daily living (e.g. restroom and dressing needs)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to occasionally lift up to fifty pounds while assisting participants • Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, reach, carry. • Frequently required to push wheelchairs.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

CA Dept. of Social Services and Dept. of Justice criminal record clearance required prior to employment.

Driver

Pick up packaged meals at Little House for a set route.  Return delivery boxes to the storage shed.

Deliver meals to program participants within a two-hour limit.

Informally assess program participants mental and physical status on a daily basis and report any changes to the program office.

4)  Participate in in-service training on a quarterly basis or as needed.

5)  Return route list daily for shredding. Comply with all traffic laws and agency safety policies. Other duties as assigned.

You'll take the lead on cleaning toys, spotting safety issues, organizing supplies and straightening up after a pack of 3 year olds.  You will also spot a group of toddlers who may be interested in listening to a story or engaging in yoga and invite them to participate in an activity.  It is this combination that supports growth and development of children and nurtures the needs of their grown-ups.
