Turret Punch Machine Operator


This position will perform work at a Turret Punch machine or water jet in accordance with the job prints and will perform set ups and also operate the machine itself while checking for defective materials and tools. Must have good mechanical aptitude and be able to lift at least 50 lbs. The option is to have experience in either water jet or turret machine.


Job Duties:


Responsible for operation, loading and unloading material and parts, proving programs, operating


controls, setting offsets, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.


Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions


and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operations and set up requirements.


Ensure production rates are met or exceeded.


Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within


capabilities, controls or control media as required to insure quality of productions. Reports all


machine malfunctions to Management.


Communicates with management, production control, quality and other shop personnel for


assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.


Requirements:


  • Ability to read & interpret detailed drawings

  • Use of precision measuring equipment

  • Basic shop math.

  • Knowledge of a variety of materials, programming and familiarity with FINN POWER Turret equipment a plus

  • Frequent and continuous light to moderate lifting, bending and standing required

o   Work with owner/client to explain each stage, provide updates, obtain approvals and complete change orders for scope of work revisions.


o   Develop strong working relationships with all subcontractors/vendors.


o   Work with vendors/suppliers to obtain pricing and delivery dates.


o   Secure fair market value contracts.


o   Ensure all work is done in compliance with OSHA and company risk management policies.


o   Manage the overall team providing clear communication of project objectives and guidance to resolve problems in a timely manner.  


o   Monitor project costs to stay within budget.


o   Prepare status reports identifying cost overruns, construction delays, trade union updates and other relevant information.      


o   Manage the close out process.

This is primarily an “out of the office” position. You will travel to various sites to determine the cause of failures, mainly related to building systems. Driving to assignment(s) throughout the day is part of this job, and overnight stays are sometimes required. One or two days in the office per week can be expected. § Work closely with Sales and Engineering during customer acceptance testing.


§ Provide technical phone support to customer maintenance staff as necessary.


§ Advise and recommend manufacturing process and procedure improvements to management as necessary


§ Travel occasionally to customer sites as required for machine installations, modifications, training and/or repair. Travel is regional and less than 10%.


§ Perform electrical wiring or troubleshooting on site at customers facilities to solve problems with machinery.


§ Provide technical support to external and internal customers.


§ Assist in conceptualization of machine and/or tooling design during quotation phase


§ Support sales team in pre-sales technical concept and budgeting activities.


§ Modify systems upon customer request and update documentation accordingly. \


§ Be able to build and wire electrical control panels as needed.


§ Working knowledge of electrical test equipment such as multi-meters, test lights, etc.


§ Working knowledge of transformers, such as sizing, wiring and troubleshooting.


§ Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standard.


§ Maintain all required company documents.


SKILLS:


§ Strong verbal and written communication skills.


§ Excellent problem solving and time management skills.


§ Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge.


§ Background in automation preferred.


§ Able to operate various hand tools as needed.


§ Mechanical assembly aptitude a plus.


§ Able to systematically debug machines mechanically and electrically.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


§ Applicants must be a citizen of the United States.


§ 3 - 5 years related to machine building job experience.


§ Must have a valid driver’s license.


§ Must have own hand tools, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, measuring tools and etc.


§ Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals.


§ Must be a strong TEAM player
