Required Skills:

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the NCTA enters information into the patient’s electronic or written chart. All documentation is reviewed and/or edited by the Registered Nurse. Documentation is signed with an attestation by the Registered Nurse, attesting that the NCTA's charting accurately reflects all work, treatment, procedures, and medical decision-making performed by them.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of CareThrough’s and ScribeAmerica’s Core Values as outlined by the organization

  • Perform accurate documentation and reporting of all procedures in accordance with department policy

  • Participate in documenting a nursing history and reporting abnormalities to the supervising Registered Nurse

  • Assist in the delivery of patient care as a team member by performing patient care tasks under the direction of a Registered Nurse

  • Provide patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture

  • Function appropriately in clinical emergencies

  • Follow CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrate appropriate use of PPE, perform handwashing according to policy, and enforce safety regulations

  • Exhibit a desire to learn and upgrade skills, and perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit

  • Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities

  • Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department

Required Education and Pre-requisites

This position requires:

  • Florida Nursing Assistant Certification, OR Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with comparable hospital experience, OR successful completion of the first semester of an ASN or BSN program

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Exemplary work ethic and professionalism

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to adapt to individual site needs

  • Ability to multitask is high-stress environments

  • Strong computer skills – technological savvy

  • A typing speed of 50+ WPM


Upon hiring, the care coordination assistant is expected to successfully complete the following requirements:

  • Classroom training

  • Medicolegal documentation

  • Nursing Documentation

  • Medical facility flow

  • Efficiency management

  • Medical terminology

  • Pathophysiology

  • Physical exam findings


  • Evaluation and Management (E&M) billing basics

  • ICD-10 documentation requirements

  • Final exam

  • One-on-one clinical floor training

  • Initial competency assessment

  • Facility-specific training

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time or part-time position and hours of work and days vary Monday through Sunday depending on the facility contract and Care Coordination Assistant hours needed.


Travel is expected occasionally for this position between local hospitals and medical facilities, as required by the particular nurse care team program.
