McIntosh Communications is looking for an entry level Emergency Vehicle Installer for full time work. Primary responsibilities would be installing, testing, repairing and removing 12 volt law enforcement vehicle equipment. Equipment could include, but not limited to, light bars, flashers, sirens, radios, speakers, antennas, routers, video cameras, laptops, printers, consoles, trasport partitions, K-9 cages and more. Work could include new vehicles, upgrading existing vehicles and servicing prior installs.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities


• Install emergency equipment into law enforcement vehicles


Remove and re-install OEM vehicle interior trim Install electrical wiring, connect electrical fittings, drill holes, soldering and perform all physical tasks associated with modifying vehicles for the acceptance of emergency-related equipment Develop wiring routes throughout the vehicle for the most efficient wiring path and enable future replacement and/or troubleshooting Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with equipment as necessary Dis-assemble and reassembly of a diverse range of vehicle makes and models, including sedans,


SUVs, motorcycles, ATVs.


• Maintain safe, clean and orderly tools and work area


• Continuous learning in new products, skills techniques from colleagues and manufacturers


• Assist with parts, shipping, receiving and inventory as needed


Complete all required paperwork and documentation


• Other duties as needed or required

Experience: Minimum 1 year of automotive wiring or related experience in a fast-paced shop Skill: Must possess the drive and aptitude to work safely with tools and understand auto wiring. Self motivated. Work well under pressure in fast-paced environment. Be able to follow directions; evaluate problems and prioritize tasks. Ability to work well in small teams. Preferred: Experience installing into law enforcement vehicles.

    Job Summary and General Purpose of Position:


    The AV Platform Support Technician is responsible for making sure test vehicles are prepared, configured, and available for testing. They support advanced troubleshooting of issues before, during, and after testing. Working closely with the operations and engineering teams, solve problems and help make test vehicles more reliable.


    As EOL (End of Line) (Incoming Quality Control) Technician this person performs final testing on R&D autonomous vehicles after assembly, before release to the fleet. As IQC (Incoming Quality Control) Technician, they determine quality of incoming parts before assembly.


    Required Skills for this role:



    • Comfortable working in multiple different command line interfaces

    • Comfortable working in Bash terminal

    • Can read and run simple Bash and Python scripts

    • Basic understanding of networking (for any issues involving the vehicle network)

    • Basic understanding of electrical engineering (e.g. AC/DC voltage, resistance, amperage, how they affect/relate to each other, experience using multimeters)

    • Strong troubleshooting ability (this is really key some tests require tracing an issue virtually end-to-end throughout the whole vehicle)

    • Basic knowledge of working on vehicles (may need to remove/replace components, torque grounds, etc.)

    • Ability to work without an explicit set of instructions where here is minimal documentation

    • Basic experience working on small electronics (assembling a PC, experimenting with Raspberry Pi, and similar experiences are very useful for some IQC tasks)

    • Good organization skills (parts are always coming in and out to be checked, and it is crucial to keep these well-organized)

    Physical Requirements- Must be able to sit in a vehicle for as many as 6 hours per day. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Job requires sitting, standing, and bending for approximately 6-8 hours on a daily basis. Must be flexible and able to perform numerous tasks as requested.     Vehicle Installation Technician (EVT and/or 12 Volt Experienced):


    This person's job is to drill headlight and tail light housings to install strobe tubes and led heads. Assemble emergency lights and set flash patterns. Breakdown vehicles and prepare for install (remove bumper, trim etc.). Re-assemble bumpers, trim panels, seats. Assist with installation of metal prisoner cages and seats. This person's job also includes the following: Wire 12v and install siren systems, wire and Install camera recording systems, wire and Install emergency lights, wire and Install two-way radios, wire and Install computer MDT, wire and Install K9 vehicle electronics.
