Position Summary:

ProteinSimple, a Bio-Techne brand, is looking to add an instructional designer to our instructional design team who will be responsible for developing the customer training curriculum for multiple product lines on the Docebo Learning Management System. They will coordinate, create and update highly professional online content after collecting inputs from Marketing, Development teams, and the global field Applications team. In addition, the instructional designer will have project management responsibilities for this and related Learning Academy projects.

The Instructional Designer can be located in a ProteinSimple office in the California (San Marcos or San Jose), Massachusetts (Boston) or Toronto area.

Bio-Techne is rethinking protein tools and helping thousands of researchers around the world resolve their protein analysis problems so they can reveal new insight into proteins and their role in disease. Our wide-ranging portfolio of tools includes everything from immunoassay systems that quantify protein expression to systems that probe the structure and purity of protein-based therapeutics. The candidate for this position should have a good to excellent working knowledge of protein analysis.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Share and use your passion for developing an innovative customer learning experience, through the development and delivery of online customer training programs.

  • Ability to create storyboards: Use various authoring tools to produce relevant eLearning modules, video content, and performance support materials for a global audience.

  • Apply sound instructional design methodology for content creation and employ rich media such as graphics, audio, video, animation, interaction, and games.

  • Demonstrate passion for creating engaging, fun and interactive materials.

  • Create online certification testing for appropriate product lines and applications.

  • Continuously drive improvement both of instructional products and their own skill sets with new media and new practices.

  • Assist with administration of the Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Create a program to assess success and identify improvements/features for our customer learning environment.

  • Create schedules, project timelines, success criteria and track deliverables for customer learning projects such as group classes and LMS projects.



  • Education in Instructional Design and Project Management (formal or 5+ years of experience) required.

  • MS or Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Immunology, or other protein-based life science area is a plus.


  • A passion for educating adults in a science related area; one to three years of creating scientific, educational content preferred.

  • Self-starter and collaborative within project teams.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
