Hours & Working Conditions


  • Average 40 hours per week (typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays)

  • Brazing, soldering, and welding required

  • Work with sheet metal and sharp objects

  • Lifting and physical exertion required

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Troubleshoot HVAC equipment, building comfort, energy efficiency, and related problems

  • Present findings and options to customers, providing advise as needed/requested

  • Complete approved repairs, improvements, or installations within industry standard hours per repair pricing guide

  • Clean equipment/work area

  • Ensure complete customer satisfaction upon completion of work

  • Complete all paperwork required by management. Collect for work performed

  • Maintain truck inventory

  • Keep assigned service vehicle organized and clean

  • Contact the office following the completion of each call, providing requested information regarding the work completed, and receiving dispatch instructions for the next call

  • Provide customers with information and pricing on service agreements, accessories, and other comfort improvements

  • Perform equipment installations if needed

  • Perform maintenance work if needed

  • Identify and suggest opportunities for quality and cost improvements

Job Requirements


  • EPA Universal Certification

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Valid drivers license

  • Clean driving and criminal records as required by state laws for home service companies and by company insurance carrier(s)

  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide repairs at the service technician level

  • Two or more years of experience as an HVAC installation, maintenance, or service technician

  • Ability to follow controls/wiring schematic

  • Ability to braze/solder/weld 

  • Standard technician tools

  • Neat, clean, professional appearance

  • Participates in daily meeting with Construction Manager and Accounting regarding job progress and billing.

  • Ensure complete customer satisfaction upon completion of work.

  • Able to perform basic duties of Customer Service Representative, when necessary which involves answering incoming calls and booking calls for Service Department.

  • Provide customers with information and pricing on service agreements, accessories, and other comfort improvements

  • Provide customers with information on new equipment when repairs exceed a pre-determined cost

  • Other duties as needed

Do you want to work for the East Bay's premiere electrical service?

 

We are looking for a relationship with a journeyman electrician with experience. Licensed or working on License is OK. Working with our small Team means that honesty, integrity, good communication skills, attention to detail and health and safety consciousness are a must. Must be able to take instruction and learn on the job. 

 

Applicant MUST be knowledgeable in Electrical Theory, Codes and Practice relating to residential and light commercial work. Must be proficient in the use of romex, MC cable, flexible metal conduit EMT and Rigid conduit (up to 2”). Also including ability to “cut-in” receptacles, lighting outlets and switches, plan and do Service changes, sub panel installation, kitchen and bath remodels, lighting and power outlets, A/C and EV, etc. as well as Troubleshooting and repair. We often deal with old knob and tube wiring and Low voltage wiring including phone, CATV and Ethernet. Will need tools, vehicle and phone. 

Hourly wages for P/T, F/T based on experience (typically $35-$50).

SCHEDULE: Tuesday - Friday, 7:45 AM - 6 PM. Occasional shift change or O/T required at times.

Smitten Ice Cream is searching for a Facilities Technician focused on preventative and maintenance repairs for our store fleet, equipment, and central kitchen. This position works 80% in the field, 20% managing relationships with contractors and vendors and overseeing the budget. 

Responsibilities


  • Partner with Operations team to assess needs for shop maintenance and repairs and perform both preventative and regular maintenance on all assigned areas, placing special focus on minimizing system downtime

  • Preventative and repair tasks, including HVAC systems, store/kitchen equipment, refrigeration, plumbing, and physical locations

  • Own the communication/coordination between General Managers and contractors on ETAs, parts & repairs, proposals and repair completion follow-up 

  • Educate staff on how to properly maintain equipment in good working order

  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of our shops so that equipment, janitorial, fire safety, and general maintenance are implemented in a manner consistent with policies and procedures

  • Routinely visit our locations to ensure job completion, a clean environment, and cost-effective operation 

  • Operate and maintain delivery vehicles

  • Develop predictive and preventative maintenance plans and implement them to ensure decrease in repairs and breakdowns

  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary

  • Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance

  • Manage relationships with Landlords, property owners, contractors and service providers

  • Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities

Requirements


  • 2+ years experience in facility operations and maintenance/repair

  • Broad Knowledge of maintenance strategies and tactics

  • General mechanical knowledge for building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and an understanding of common maintenance issues and their fixes

  • Weekend availability will be required

  • Authorized to work in the United States
