BASIC STEPS LEARNING CENTER would like to train a teacher assistant for 3-4 weeks to become a Lead PreK TEACHER. Our lead, experienced teachers will guide the teacher assistant on how to effectively manage a classroom. Teacher Assistant's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (a) monitoring the young (3-5 years old) children's behaviors in the classroom and during playtime, (b) getting classroom materials ready for the class, (c) giving children snacks and taking them to the bathroom and (d) doing some cleaning at the school.

Schedule (Flexible) -- 8:15am to 12:30pm (Mon - Fri)

Qualifications:


  1. Must be currently enrolled in a college program or already has obtained a AA/BA degree in education or related field

  2. Comfortable assisting a large classroom of 20-24 young children

  3. Not afraid of children crying, changing/cleaning them, and assisting them in the bathroom

  4. Is motivated to help improve the learning programs/curriculum

  5. Responsible, Punctual, Reliable and Flexible

  6. Has a reliable vehicle

  7. Have some experience with children (for example, babysitting, volunteering, playing, etc.)

  8. Preferred qualifications: Have basic piano skills

Compensation: $14-15/hr DOE + Education

Our full day Montessori Toddler program guides children 18 months to 3 years old.

The toddler program is housed in a beautifully remodeled house that supports an immersive Montessori environment for our toddlers and a park-like, safe outdoor space. Montessori teachers are guides, assisting young children in their exploration of their environment and building their independence. Teachers support and encourage each child, building the child's self esteem and autonomy to encourage a love of learning and exploration. The schedule is carefully created to support early learning progression through practical life, self-expression, fine and gross motor development.

We are looking for Assistant Teachers who are:

- 18 years and older.
- Consistently arrive to work on time and for the assigned schedule.
- Willing to complete the DCYF Merit requirements (TB test, background check, First Aid/CPR ).

We support each individual student in building a foundation for life-long learning in preparation for future educational endeavors.


Our school has been growing since its opening in 1966. We are looking for assistant teachers to provide classroom support for Montessori Head Teachers who are guiding children in our Toddler, Primary, and Elementary Programs. Support would be demonstrated by preparing organized classrooms with beautiful materials, in a peaceful environment, designed to encourage children to explore and discover the joy of learning. Typical daily tasks include:

Our school has grown since its opening in 1966. We are looking for assistant teachers to provide support for who are guiding children (aged 3-6) in our after-school (approx. 2pm-6pm) Activity Club programs.


When accepting a position with Bellevue Montessori School, the Activity Club (AC) Support Staff agrees to collaborate with other staff in providing a nurturing environment that supports a child’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. AC staff facilitate the comprehensive development of all students by interacting positively, confidently and respectfully with all children, family and staff members. AC staff are under the direct supervision of the Primary Educational Director, Primary Program Coordinator and Activity Club Lead.


Some Expectations of Activity Club Staff are as follows:


In teams of two, oversee a group of up to 20 children between 2:40 to 6:00 pm by:



  • Cleaning and rotating of activities, books and art supplies

  • Knowing and following safety procedures

  • Providing snacks for the children

  • Offering assistance to children, only when necessary per the Montessori way

  • Leading and guiding small group activities (art, science, baking, circle activities, books and songs)

  • Engaging in conversation with children to increase their opportunities for language

  • Using positive discipline techniques to help students gain self-discipline and learn how to settle their own disputes using conflict resolution skills

  • Leaving the classroom clean and ready for the morning including using the three-step process to clean and sanitize the tables and chairs at the end of the night
