Position Description:

Comprehensive training will be provided to equip staff to fulfill position responsibilities, including earning the Registered Behavior Technician credential.


Requirements:



  • EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH CHILDREN ON THE AUTISM SPECTRUM A PLUS

  • Ability to work between 4:00pm and 8:00pm Monday through Friday- Weekend availability a plus

  • Reliable transportation to and from client homes, multiple work sites, and Beyond Boundaries office.

  • Flexibility to adjust your schedule to meet training requirements. This is a part-time position initially, with potential of growth into full-time hours, depending on availability, need, and performance.

  • Strong communicate skills. A second language is a plus but not required

  • Must be comfortable using iPads and/or computers to use various web-based software systems for carrying out intervention programs, recording data, and adhering to company standards for scheduling and time submission.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality pertaining to children, families, staff and any other protected health information (PHI).


 




  • Preferred experience: conducting discrete trial training, pivotal response training, naturalistic environment training, applied verbal behavior and conditional discrimination training with children.

  • 1-year experience working directly with people having autism and/or other developmental disabilities. Comprehensive training is provided to all new hires, regardless of experience.

Our Charter’s Mission is to eliminate the learning achievement gap for urban children—including special needs students and English language learners—by using an engaging and demanding curriculum to graduate students at or above grade level in literacy and math.   • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the designated curriculum through proper daily implementation with developmentally appropriate conversations, behaviors and guidance strategies and ability to model for teaching staff, children, parents, community volunteers and interns.

  • Must be able to plan teacher-directed activities such as language and literacy, physical - small/large motor skills, music and movement, colors, counting, ABC's etc.

  • Exceptional organization and planning skills.

  • Ability to write and implement lesson plans that are appropriate to the age group involved in accordance with the curriculum

  • Must be computer proficient with basic proficiency computer skills (access to email and internet.)

  • Ability to convey a positive attitude at all times while working with children, parents and other staff members including administration.

  • Ability to communicate and follow the philosophy of positive reinforcement and redirection.

  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean atmosphere for children at all times. Ensures all sanitary procedures are followed regarding diaper changes, potty learning, toys and classroom sterilization.

  • Flexible and acts positively toward suggestions which are intended to improving performance and implement changes where necessary and willing to help other team members in unusual circumstances.

  • Abides and understands all licensing procedures including all state licensing entities, Fire Dept., Health Dept., etc.

Job Description


The Lead Teacher is the leader within the classroom and is responsible for carrying out and insuring that certain duties are carried out. They are responsible for supervising, assisting and supporting the children, teacher assistants, substitutes, floaters, parents, interns and volunteers in carrying out developmentally appropriate child activities in accordance with the designated curriculum.



  • Provide a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). Develop individual goals for children, provide on-going assessment on progress.

  • Maintain on-going contact with families and work with all other components (health, nutrition, family services, mental health, special services, parent education and resource/referral) to integrate services into the family setting.

  • Must meet and maintain requirements per Federal Head Start Performance Standards and any local, state and/or agency policies and procedures.

  • Observes and assesses students for creating and maintaining individual profiles, portfolios and parent conferences.

  • Assists parents in following classroom procedures and policies (i.e.: labeling child’s belongings, follow through with classroom schedule, etc.)

  • Understands daily need for small group/whole group interactive learning.

  • Facilitate feeding, diaper changing, and napping of children

  • Ensure that children are always within state ratio requirements

  • Provide a reasonable balance between teacher-directed and child-directed activities

  • Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and work indoors or outdoors. Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children.

  • Perform nominal cleaning responsibilities (e.g., spills) immediately and perform major cleaning during times when children are not present

  • Create a multi-cultural learning environment and respect cultural and ethnic diversity

  • Must complete a minimum of 15 hours of ongoing training through staff meetings and workshops

  • Provide a variety of developmentally appropriate materials

  • Interact with the children to support play, exploration and learning

  • Encourage children to talk with each other and with the faculty

  • Present age and developmentally appropriate expectations for all children

  • Plan and implement a classroom schedule for both active and quiet play, that develop children’s self-esteem, learning opportunities and social skills

  • Use assessment tools (e.g., Progress Reports, Children’s Progress)

  • Maintain anecdotal notes, as well as developmental and numerical data records, prepare a Daily Activity Reports, and attendance for each child, with written and verbal input from other teaching staff. Submit monthly reports on designated content area to Supervisors and Administration.

  • Maintain the classroom Parent Board

  • Participation in Professional Development sessions as required by designated program.

  • Ability to speak, read, write, comprehend, process, interpret follow and carry out instructions spoken in the English language and written in a variety of documents and references relevant to the job.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned in support of agency and program needs and operations.

Full time: 8:00am- 4:00pm, 8:30am – 4:30pm, or 9:00am-5:00pm
