REPORTS TO: President


JOB SUMMARY: The Service Technician is responsible for maintenance and correction of battery systems. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:


◼ Preforming service and maintenance at the customer’s site


◼ Technically advising and supporting customers and external partners


◼ Operative support of customer issues


◼ Preparation and execution of customer product training


◼ Development of technical product documentation


◼ Support for sales in questions of service


◼ Interface function between customer and the Development Department


◼ Support for Development and Testing


◼ Performs other related duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:


◼ Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a focus on mechanical, electrical or mechatronics engineering or skilled worker with further training as a technician


◼ Five (5) years of experience in related field preferred


◼ Excellent knowledge of hardware as well as an excellent understanding of technology in general


◼ Ideally has experience handling high-voltage technology and battery systems


◼ Experience in using the automotive CAN-Bus (Vector/ Peak) is advantageous


◼ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software


◼ Willingness to perform interdisciplinary tasks


◼ Good work organization, ability to think analytically and strong in concept development


◼ Excellent verbal and written communication skills


◼ Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


◼ Ability to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


·       Support incoming inspection by developing new/improved inspection methods and provide appropriate training to staff.


·       Work closely with suppliers and internal customer to complete external customer complaint analysis.
Participate in defining sampling procedures to standardize systems.
Support compliance to the IATF 16949 & Quality System Regulations requirements.
Complete initial assessment of reporting and escalates to manager to determine action, when necessary.


·        Perform SPC analysis to define sampling size for incoming components


·       Work with the INC Supervisor to help improve the process of incoming inspection to include:


o   Identify ways to increase inspection productivity by designing and fabricating inspection fixtures, techniques and methods.


o   Work with engineers to identify and have inspected Critical Function dimensions for each production part.


o   Assist in the set-up of Quality metrics for the INC Group and identify ways to track the group's productivity and quality of inspections.


·       Initiate the resolution of nonconforming materials identified at Incoming Inspection, working with the consumable and instrument engineers and coordinating with representatives from other technical groups.


·       Provide assessment of inspection capabilities to new product design teams and enhance inspection capabilities and toolsets where required to support new product launch.


·       Implement efficiency and automation improvements to facilitate better data collection within the available resource pool.


·       Understand and apply the manufacturing quality toolset including GR&R/measurement system analysis, control plans Cpk, Cp, SPC, hard gauging applications, computer-based inspection methods.


·       Participate in cross-functional meeting involving Production Engineers, Process Engineers, and R&D Engineers.


·       Work with product support teams, engineering and others on component quality issues and supplier initiatives.


·       Direct vendor interactions including travel to supplier sites to coordinate and calibrate inspection techniques which will include gage R & R studies.


·       Review drawings to evaluate quality requirements including correct application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), proper use of engineering, process and material specifications, and identification of key characteristics for inspection plans and methods.


·       Review engineering change orders to ensure inspection viability as well as develop inspection technique.


·       Some group management skills in terms of supervising individual contributors and help with the development and skill set improvement.


 


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS


·       5 Years of experience in Quality Systems

Third shift maintenance supervisor oversees the direct activities of the skilled trades staff supporting HDEP machining departments. Their primary function is to support production with maintenance activities resolving downtime issues and performing preventive maintenance.

Position Summary: Directly lead a team of Skilled Tradesmen in supporting maintenance activities in the Heavy Duty Engine (HDE) Machining Operations. Machining operations to include: Bearing Caps, Blocks, Connecting Rods, Heads, Liners, and Turbo Machining & Assembly Operations. The Maintenance Supervisor strives to maintain the operational readiness of all machining equipment, working cross-functionally with Maintenance Engineers, Controls Engineers, Skilled Trades Leaders, and Operations & Quality Department support team members.

Job Functions:
Provide direct supervision of Skilled Trades Electricians, Pipefitters, Machine Repairmen, Millwright / Welders, and Toolmakers.
Coordinate manpower & material resources supporting all critical machine breakdown repairs, with strong interaction across all three shifts of support team members.
Assist support team members in the troubleshooting efforts of complex machining equipment downtime issues, utilizing practical & structured problem solving processes and root cause analysis.
Manage time cards, attendance, training, and overtime systems.
Plan, schedule, and execute planned maintenance job plans, standard work instructions, and emergency maintenance tasks.
Support a collaborative team of Skilled Trades, Controls & Process Engineers in the diagnosing & repairs of CNC and Assembly Machining Operations.
Assist Skilled Tradesmen in use of technical drawings & OEM documentation needed to troubleshoot faults, diagnose equipment failure, and facilitate repairs.
Attend SFM meetings and work closely with Operations Team to improve equipment uptime by reducing MTBF & MTTR, and improve the overall reliability and safety of machining equipment.
Interface with employee Labor Relations personnel and local UAW Shop Committee representatives.
Evaluate work of Skilled Tradesmen, enforce contractual agreements & company safety policies, complete Leader performance reviews, and provide constructive criticism and discipline to team members as necessary.

Basic Qualifications Required:
BS / BA degree or 6 years relative experience.
Knowledge of safety codes and standards.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Engineering degree/diploma or equivalent combination of education and applicable work related experience (mechanical, manufacturing or industrial).


  • 5 years work related experience in the automotive industry.


  • Experienced project management and AutoCAD.


  • May be required to work overtime to meet customer needs.


  • Good organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills.


  • Demonstrates the ability o work effectively within a team environment.
