TEACHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

▪ Teach five sections of a course/courses within your discipline and one section of Advisory

▪ Attend and participate fully in weekly Professional Development and weekly or bi-weekly coaching meetings with an instructional coach (all teachers at ARISE have a dedicated instructional coach)

▪ Participate in professional development opportunities to develop skills and expand scope of curricular and instructional knowledge and understanding (including school-wide professional development retreats, critical inquiry group participation, opportunities with school partners, and outside individual professional development)

▪ Provide regular feedback to students about their progress, including completing quarterly progress reports and updating the online grade book weekly

▪ Participate in “Academic Familia” grade level meetings to problem solve student issues and build out collaborative, cross-curricular projects

▪ Develop project-based “Rigorous Summative Assessments” in alignment with our ​Graduate Profile

▪ Collaborate with teachers/peers and our Adelante Student Support team to provide a consistent academic support system for all students

▪ Participate in peer observations with other teachers to heighten the effectiveness and experience of our community of teachers as learners

▪ Align course content with our Public and Community Health Pathway

▪ Provide academic support outside of class to our students (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, homework assistance, including one afternoon each week assisting with required study hall hours) at least twice per week.

▪ Provide academic, socio-emotional, personal guidance, and support to a grade-level homogenous Advisory class of 15-22 students, including support towards fulfilling graduation requirements (e.g. Defenses, community programs, cultural immersion, etc.)

▪ Exemplify and reinforce the ARISE Vision, Mission, and Core Values in and beyond Advisory

▪ Collaborate with students, parents/guardians and other teachers to address the academic and

social needs of advisees; provide consistent follow-up with/for students, parents/guardians and

teachers in the role of Advisor

▪ Facilitate the maintenance of student portfolios

▪ Hold a focused independent reading time space 3x per week during Advisory

▪ Coordinate bi-annual student-led conferences

▪ Conduct home visits to meet with advisees and their families as necessary

The Position

This is paraprofessional work at the action level that involves assisting students in the Learning Center and Writing Center and faculty in the delivery of classroom instruction and providing academic support to students. Under direction, the employee performs a variety of writing support, preparatory work and planning, organizes academic support and instruction, and coordinates various academic support services. Public contact is extensive and primarily includes students, college faculty and staff, but can also include vendors and staff in other educational institutions and agencies, for the purpose of exchanging subject matter and procedural information. A high degree of independent judgment and creativity are required to resolve a wide variety of minor and occasional major problems that may arise. Consequences of errors in judgment can be moderately costly in public relations and employee time; however, supervisory controls are available to limit the risk of serious error. An Instructional Aide II can direct the work of tutors, student assistants, other clerical staff, and Instructional Aides I, as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. General student assistance, including Learning Center (LC) and writing support services

  2. During morning/regular business hours, the Instructional Aide II has primary responsibility to staff and support writing services, including providing resources, test proctoring (when needed), responding to student inquiries, assisting with LC Courses, and troubleshooting software questions

  3. If scheduled during evening hours, the Instructional Aide II has primary responsibility for closing the Learning Center in the evenings, including ensuring that all students have left the premises, doors are locked, and lights turned off

  4. Exchanges information with students, faculty, and staff regarding subject-matter, resources, materials, policies, and procedures associated with the classroom or laboratory setting

  5. Confers with faculty regarding curriculum, computer hardware, software and other learning tools, student assignments and progress, tests, student test scores, alternate learning methods, and other technical information related to the services and programs provided

  6. Attends meetings, conferences, and workshops to obtain current subject-matter, procedural, and other information

  7. Participates in division and department planning activities

  8. Makes presentations to small and large groups to publicize the services and programs as assigned

  9. Assists in the maintenance, entry, and/or tracking of data for a variety of programs, writing focused services, and activities

  10. Uses a variety of computer software to organize and maintain learning resources and related data, compose and prepare correspondence, reports, publicity, and other materials; writes, administers, and scores tests in conjunction with faculty

  11. Sets up and maintains online and manual files; enters, modifies, and retrieves a variety of statistical and other data for special and regular reports

  12. Tutors and/or demonstrates writing knowledge, English knowledge, grammar, equipment, techniques, and other aspects related to a particular subject-matter, in conjunction with faculty

  13. Demonstrates subject-matter skills; directs students in practical laboratories; tutors students on problem areas of the subject-matter as directed by faculty or as the result of a student learning plan

  14. Demonstrates safety procedures for use of classroom and laboratory equipment and supplies; troubleshoots operational problems with laboratory and classroom equipment

  15. Researches background of subject-matter to maintain current information

  16. As directed by faculty, compiles and organizes lesson plans and materials for faculty presentation

  17. Recommends the modification or purchase of laboratory and classroom equipment

  18. Under direction of the Tutor Coordinator or designated staff person, assists in the hiring, training, and direction of the work of tutors and student assistants, creates schedules

Minimum Qualifications


  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree

Specific Duties & responsibilities


  • Create and facilitate engaging, project-based curriculum that is of high interest for Oakland elementary aged youth for 1-hour enrichment sessions.

  • Provide 1 hour daily academic session that assist elementary students with homework and support student’s academic success. 

  • Establish and maintain a physically and emotionally safe learning environment where meaningful relationships between students and themselves can take root and flourish 

  • Complete all administrative tasks on a daily and/or weekly basis including but not limited to student attendance, monthly reports, surveys, etc. 

  • Maintain a minimum class size of students throughout the year as defined by the Site Manager.

  • Accountable for contributing to high-quality programming by meeting the Oakland Leaf program quality standards

  • Participate in monthly mandatory staff meetings and trainings when scheduled

  • Develop students in your area of expertise to use newly formed skills as a medium to express themselves, make discoveries, challenge themselves, etc.

JANUS is currently seeking motivated, career and customer oriented Senior Leader Course Instructor to join our team at Fort Gordon in Augusta, GA.

This position will conduct classroom Instruction in support of the Warfighter Information Tactical (WIN-T) U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Army Learning Model (ALM). Perform platform and hands-on instruction to students attending various 25 Series MOS courses. Instructor is responsible for updating current POIs as well as developing new POIs. Instructors also in charge of coordinating new equipment training data and training program impacts; resolving routine technical problems or recommending corrective actions concerning new equipment training, training devices; attending conferences, meetings, study groups, etc. All instruction conducted IAW the principles and concepts of TRADOC. Instruction shall include classroom/ laboratory conference instruction, discussion, demonstration, practical exercises, testing, and student critiques.

Minimum Requirements:

POSITION SUMMARY

Part Time Riding Instructors work as part of a collaborative, supportive and professional team to offer riding lessons, horsemanship classes and seasonal camps to students and campers at Sienna Ranch. Sienna Ranch uses a Pony Club-influenced approach to balanced seat and safety, and deeply values a Natural Horsemanship approach to forming connections between students and horses, horse training and horse care.

 

SCHEDULE SUMMARY Non-exempt. Permanent. Part-time. Year-round. School Year Schedule (approx Sept-May): 12-16 hours per week, Monday, Thursday, Friday schedule with option to add hours on weekends. The Alliance Specialist provides direct services to child care center clients implementing the project’s vision, goals, and values on a day to day basis.

Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain high level of  expertise in need and eligibility criteria, admission priorities, and  requirements of the California Department of Education (CDE) Title V Regulations.

  • Keep up-to-date with any changes to CDE Regulations and Management Bulletins.

  • Communicate with  child care center clients and third parties as necessary to obtain and  verify relevant data to determine family need and eligibility for services  prior to enrollment.

  • Perform ongoing need and  eligibility certifications, updates and re-certifications for CDE  subsidized families per regulations.

  • Monitor and resolve issues with Alternative Payment Provider family certificate expirations/extensions on an ongoing basis.

  • Follow up on outstanding  issues until a resolution is reached.

  • Ensure timely transfers of verified family file information to agencies.

  • Closely communicate with participating child care agencies regarding existing or forecasted vacancies.

  • Assists with maintenance of data management and reporting processes and procedures.

  • Perform data entry, data  management, and reporting for a range of early childhood programs utilized  by child care center clients including but not limited to Preschool for All, OECE Early Learning Scholarships, Alternative Payment Providers, and  California Department of Education. 

  • Maintain confidentiality of agency, clients, and family information.

  • Ensure consistent and timely submission of reports.

  • Provide prompt support to client agencies including local travel to sites when necessary. 

  • Attend and proactively participate in all meetings relevant to service delivery      and staff professional development.

  • Stay current in developments and trends in the early education sector and issues relevant to the  mission and make recommendations as appropriate.

  • Entry level accounting data entry as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

MNC is seeking a qualified individual for a temporary Early Head Start Home Based Visitor under its Children Services Division. Under the supervision of the Early Head Start Manager, the Early Head Start Home Based Visitor will provide a planned child development program of educational experiences in the home environment; provide comprehensive services to strengthen and support relationships between infants, toddlers and their parents and provide links to community resources to help achieve family goals. This is a temporary position with an opportunity to convert to a permanent infant/toddler teaching position by November 2020 for the right individual.   

Primary Duties: · Conducts weekly home visits facilitating children and parent activities and providing information on different developmental topics (e.g. nutrition, self-care, social-emotional, motor skills, language skills, etc.) for the purpose of optimizing development of each child and helping to enhance parenting skills.  · Assists families in the utilization of learning opportunities for their child by the development of educational activities using available household materials and activities that naturally occur in the home. · Use positive discipline techniques in guiding children’s behavior. · Plans and develops with parents an individualized program using weekly educational activity plans based on their child’s assessment and incorporating identified family’s strengths and needs. · Plans, implements and evaluates with parents bi-weekly group socialization experiences. · Plans and implements parent meetings/workshops to further education on development, health, and other issues. · Acts as a support and resource person for families for the purpose in case managing specific needs with families, advocating for parents and encouraging parent involvement in the program. · Establishes a caring professional relationship and a climate of mutual trust and respect for families.  · Fosters the view and practice in parents that they are their child’s first and most important teacher and reinforces this concept with practical suggestions for its continual development.  · Support and assist parents and children through the transition from home to center based care.  · Conducts developmental assessments throughout the year to ensure children are meeting important milestones. Share findings and offer parental support to apply findings and plan activities which foster their child’s needs.  · Complete referrals for further (health/mental health/disabilities) evaluations to appropriate staff members. Accurately maintain current child and family records through all phases.  · Ensure scheduled adherence for all infant and toddler immunizations, health and dental screenings and maintain completed treatment records.  · Maintain flexibility in changing planned activities according to children’s interests.  · Follow Head Start/CDE/CLD policies and procedures in reporting suspected child abuse in accordance with federal and state laws.  · Attends meetings and/or workshops (e.g. staff/center meetings, in-service sessions, training, and parent meetings) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and/or maintaining their professional development.

The Summit Model

Teaching at Summit is unlike teaching at a traditional school - our teachers are empowered to meet the needs of every student through a variety of pedagogical methods. What you’ll do:

 


  • A student school day is around 8-8:30am to 3-3:30pm, depending on the specific school. See sample teacher schedules here.


  • Project Time: Teach two to three 90-minute blocks per day of project time. Most teach one course for the entire grade (e.g. 9th Grade Biology), and see each section twice per week. Teachers work with students on projects that develop cognitive skills and apply their content knowledge to real-world situations. Teachers facilitate discussions in the classroom, coach students in applying their cognitive skills, and give students feedback.


  • Interventions and Personalized Learning Time: Facilitate daily literacy or math interventions and personalized learning time, which don’t involve lesson planning. During this time, teachers provide student support, monitor progress, and check in with individuals or groups of students.


  • Prep Time: Between teaching blocks, teachers analyze student data, build lesson plans, support school culture, and other personal development activities. Summit teachers build lesson plans through a deep understanding of student progress data, which determines the group and individual supports needed for their students to succeed.


  • Mentor Time: Build deep relationships and sense of community when teachers meet with their small group of mentees daily for their entire time at Summit. One day a week, teachers meet for most of the day with their mentor groups, work on habits of success as a group, and check in one-on-one with their mentees. Mentors coach and advocate for their mentees both inside and outside of the classroom, and strive to support them as they develop their sense of purpose as they become self-directed learners.


  • Professional Development: Twice a week, teachers participate in all-faculty after-school meetings where community decisions are made, professional development takes place, and faculty collaborates as a grade-level team. Additionally, teachers meet at least twice per month with their faculty mentor to develop as a teacher-leader.
