JOB SUMMARY:

General Security and Customer Service Duties. Upholds the mission and values established by the Conservation Society of California (the “Zoo”) and adheres to policies and procedures as set forth by the Zoo.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Extends professional courtesy and assistance to the public and other employees while immediately reporting dishonest ones.

Prevents, points out, and reports illegalities and policy violations. Assists with Internal Investigations.

Controls access at Zoo Entrances.

Completes Daily/Nightly Activity Logs along with making nightly detex rounds.

Initiates and writes Accident/Incident/Hazard Reports and various other documentation required to protect Zoo assets and liability.

Conducts vehicle and foot patrols, open and lock gates, perform revenue escorts, Robbery Prevention, Public Safety, and Building Security/ Alarm monitoring and response.

Participates in Rental Facility and Event Security (optional).

Serves as and relieves the Main Gate Guard.

Places and retrieves traffic cones, temporary signs, and barriers.

Maintains post and vehicle cleanliness.

Reports and logs Lost and Found Items.

Cones off and issues rules to renters of Picnic / Party Areas.

Clears / Closes Zoo, Rides Area, Picnic / Party Areas.

Controls Litter.

Public Safety Day Shift will brief you on events occurring earlier and how to proceed.

Patrol and secure all buildings (interior and exterior).

Demonstrates superior customer service, both internal (i.e. co-workers) and external (vendors, visitors, customers, etc).

Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports, the Conservation Society of California’s mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of behavior.

Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

Over 21 years of age preferred since some events include alcohol, but must be over the age of 18.

Must be able to problem solve and effectively read, write, and take directions in English.

Must agree to utilize a time clock / hand scan to document personnel arrival and departure times as well as lunch periods.

Must comply with a Dress Code that includes properly wearing a prescribed uniform and being neatly groomed.

Must have a current California Driver’s License and maintain a good D.M.V. Driving Record (that satisfies the Zoo’s Insurance Carrier).

Must be reliable, dependable, honest, courteous, and professional while ensuring confidentiality when necessary.

Must be available to work weekends and holidays unless otherwise authorized.

Able to bend and twist, lift, stand, kneel, sit, walk, bend, stoop and speak regularly and for long periods of time (8 hour shifts)

2) Minimum educational level:

High School Graduate or G.E.D.

Current State of California Security Guard Card preferred.

3) Experience required:

Must have experience working with the public.

Previous Security experience preferred.

General Statement of Job

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:
 



  • Provide excellent customer service to the client, its associates and facilities personnel

  • Patrol assigned post on foot to maintain visibility and observe possible unusual activity

  • Investigate and report maintenance and safety conditions which might endanger client, its associates or public safety, including fires, evacuations, hazardous situations, or other facility-related events; provide back up to client personnel as needed

  • Monitor Closed Circuit Television, Access control and Alarm monitoring systems as required

  • Ensure that daily administrative documentation is kept concise and complete at all times; maintain all daily assigned equipment in functional and presentable condition

  • Respond to all requests for assistance relayed by Supervisor or client; complete various company or client assignments as required; submit reports to the superior officer

  • Provide escort services to the clients visitors, contractors and vendors as required

  • Investigate security-related accidents/incidents, interview witnesses, complaints, and victims; responsible for gathering physical evidence and preserving it for future use; complete report and follow up with management as needed

  • Participate in scheduled physical security audits of door readers and other physical security devices

  • Responsible for ensuring that all employees, suppliers, and visitors on company property have a proper company-issued identification

  • Ensure that the client, its associates, and facility personnel are provided with a safe and professional work environment

  • Responsibilities include crowd control and assisting Police Department/Fire Department/EMS or other officials during these processes; maintain control at traffic accidents, assist victims, and investigate causes

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
 



  • High School diploma (or GED) required or any equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and/or experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position

  • Must complete and maintain state Guard Certification as prescribed by presiding state law, as well as all client requested certifications; all documentation and fees are the responsibility of the employee unless otherwise noted

  • Site-specific training will need to be completed within the first thirty days unless otherwise stated based on client or assignment of position

Job description:


All guards are required to arrive on site as scheduled, to provide relief to the guard holding post from the shift prior.


Guards must stand post and complete their hourly foot patrols and/or tours which are set to the site owner’s needs and specifications. 


All Patrols are done with a site phone, provided on site, and any/all checkpoints that require photographic documentation must be done to the standard outlined in the Post Orders.


At the end of the foot patrol/tour, Guard must write up a DAR for that hour’s patrol, notating any exceptions found. Any tour completed with no exception, still requires a DAR stating no exceptions found.


Guard then must return to their post, standing by until the next hour’s foot patrol is required.


Guards MUST ALWAYS ensure there are no unauthorized people/vagrants/vandals on site DURING THE ENTIRETY of their shift


Guards are expected to observe and report back to management and if necessary, the local police.


If the Guard coming to relieve you is running late, we do require the guard on duty to remain on duty until relief comes


Requirements:


·         GUARDS MUST HAVE A VALID AND UP TO DATE GUARD CARD (we do not help guards in obtaining card, nor do we assist with renewal fees)


·         Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Legion is recruiting for a Professional Armed Security Officer for a Flex position for Construction sites in Emeryville and El. Cerrito, CA, Oakland Swap Meet and a Hayward site. We need someone who is flexible and able to travel to all these sites at different hours so having your own vehicle to travel is pretty much required. Securing the site from trespassers or unwanted guests is a primary function of duties. Must be personable, work well in a team environment, be polite, able to communicate effectively and work directly with the client, and have a professional demeanor. Hourly rates are different for each site and ranges from $17-$22 an hour.

4. Must provide military discharge records (DD 214) (if applicable).

5. Must show mental and physical capacity to perform duties for which being employed.

Desired skills and certifications - Current and valid Standard first Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications

This position is responsible for:



  • Selling the company’s solutions including products, labor and services.


  • Up-selling/cross-selling to the existing customer base.

Duties And Responsibilities:



  • Building long-term relationships with the contractors within the assigned area of focus.


  • Following construction bidding to ensure all applicable projects are addressed utilizing the company tools (Dodge reports, Dashboards, SFDC, etc.)


  • Creating new market share by selling a broad range of products and services to new customers.


  • Utilizing approved marketing materials to demonstrate sales presentations and proposals to prospective customers; assuring that the customers understand the value proposition and positive advantages of ADT’s products and services over those of the competition.


  • Following up with prospects and bids in a timely manner.


  • Independently establishing call plans and customer follow-up strategies and tactics; consistently applying time and territory management techniques.


  • Through in-house training, networking, and research, maintain an in-depth knowledge of ADT’s complete line of products/services and customers' needs.


  • Conducting post installation follow-up by contacting the customers, ensuring commitments were met and affirming customer satisfaction once the customer has been in service.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Skills & Experience):



  • High School Diploma, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, or three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience in high volume sales and a fast-paced environment.


  • A minimum of five (5) years of industry experience as a successful sales representative.


  • Must have consistently met or exceeded sales performance for the past three (3) to five (5) years.


  • Must demonstrate professional knowledge with an in depth understanding of all or most of the following systems: fire alarm/life-safety, intrusion alarm, access control, video surveillance, nurse-call, plus low voltage systems in general, installation, testing, inspection and maintenance.


  • Keen understanding of the construction contracting environment.


  • Strong prospecting skills, ability to build customer relationships through consultative selling and promoting customer confidence in ADT Security Services.


  • Lead generation and organic pipeline, planning and forward-thinking skills.


  • Must have a technical aptitude and an understanding of drawings and codes.


  • Exceptional customer service, thoroughness and self-motivation.


  • Must be self-motivated and have a strong work ethic.


  • Must have strong negotiation skills and prospecting skills.


  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).


  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with the ability to present to senior level executives within the customer organizations.


  • Must have a driver's license with an acceptable driving record.


  • Must be able to clear a drug screening.



Preferred Qualifications:(Skills and Certifications):


  • NICET Level II or above certified in fire alarm systems.
