Pacific Elementary School in Davenport has an opening for an aide to serve in one or more of several roles, beginning March 2. Pacific Elementary School is a small public school about 10 miles north of Santa Cruz, famous for our intimate educational setting and award-winning school lunch program.

Schedule: All needed roles occur 8:40 a.m. – 3:10 p.m. M, Tu, Th, F and 8:40 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Wednesdays. Exact details of the schedule depend on roles assigned. Some scheduling flexibility is possible.
Pay rate: $13.00 – $17.29 per hour depending on years of experience and Spanish language skills.
Skills: Experience working with children, especially younger children and/or children with special needs, and strong communication skills are desirable. Teaching, aiding, tutoring, or similar experience is valuable. Spanish language skills are useful but not required. Training will be provided.

Swim Instruction for children (ages 6 months +) and adults. Responsible for groups of up to 4 to 6 swimmers at a time or private 1:1 lessons. Swim instructors that have been certified as Water Safety Instructors and who currently hold Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications will be considered for employment first. Applicants with past swim team experience are also great candidates. Swim Instructors will be trained to teach with our methodologies after hired for employment. Applicants educated in child development, psychology and lifesaving skills are highly encouraged to apply.
Lifeguards must have Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certifications to be considered for any Lifeguarding jobs. Lifeguarding shifts are assigned as they come in and can vary from 2-5 hour shifts. (paid for a minimum of 2 hours).
Seahorse Swim School is hiring motivated, energetic and reliable Swim Instructors and Lifeguards for Spring, Summer and Fall swim programs. We teach all ages, levels and abilities to swim aged 6 months and up. Applicants that are hired in Spring are expected to be available for work in the Summer and Fall to maintain consistency in instructors from March to October. (You must be able to work in the Summer too).
Starting Saturdays Feb 29 to start to train 10-1pm.
Hours avail to teach after hiring and trained: Tues/Thurs 2-6pm (starts March 31) and Saturdays 9 -1 (sometimes 2) pm at Aptos location (starts 2/29).
Spring Lifeguarding jobs are available with us at locations throughout the County. LG gigs continue to come in into the Summer and early Fall and are at private locations that are mostly Sat and Sun from 2-5pm. Jobs are assigned as they come up and may be requested at other times during the week. Travel stipends are paid to travel to each location as well and you will be paid a minimum of 2 hours for any guarding job.
Swim Instructor pay starts at $14/hr while training, goes up to $15/hr once you are able to take on your own classes, and then is increased based on job performance, reliability and consistency. Those with experience teaching, come with good/great references and also hold a current LGT cert, will start at $15/hr (or more) as we would assume you would take on your own classes sooner and would be raised based on job performance, reliability and consistency.
