Job Description


 The Chalet has an opportunity for a full-time, year round Sales Associate to acknowledge, engage, and inform customers – and then close the sale.  Sales associates work at our lifestyle center where we are the source on Chicago’s Northshore for home, garden, gift, décor, pet and landscape needs.   


Responsibilities include: 



  • Greeting, engaging, informing and inspiring customers to drive sales.

  • Providing seamless service to all guests – across all retail categories.  Additionally, referring customers as needed to our landscape services, eCommerce, wholesale, Chalet Signature and other offerings.

  • Engage with customers in-store predominantly, but be flexible to do virtual sales as well as scheduled sales consultations.

  • Increasing product knowledge and product fluency over time to span all retail categories (outdoor plants, indoor plants, pet, home décor, holiday, birding, outdoor furniture, fountains/statuary, landscape supplies, and garden).


The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:


·         Previous sales experience is a must, along with in-depth knowledge of at least two of our product categories, and a willingness to learn the other categories.


·         A track record of consistent, swift, and reliable follow-up and follow-though with every customer.


·         Be a highly engaged, positive, friendly and approachable person.


·         Have a hunger for sales and a competitive spirit that is balanced with honesty, accountability and a strong work ethic.


·         Must be able to lift 25+ pounds; stand on your feet for your entire shift; and bend, reach, push/pull product.


·         Trustworthy, dependable, conscientious, organized and a self-starter.


·         Enjoy working both indoors and outdoors.

  • Consistently uses the 5 step GREAT program while interacting with customers: Greets and Engages Customer, Requests Credit, Explains Savings, Asks to Complete the Survey and Thanks the Customer

  • Able to learn and adapt to current technology to assist customer needs

  • Delivers the highest level of customer service through effective problem solving

  • Solicits, opens and activates Kohl's Charge applications and loyalty programs

  • Ensures that all cash handling procedures are done in accordance to policy and procedure

  • Complete transactions accurately and efficiently while engaging customers

  • Flexible and willing to cross-train and work in other areas of the store, as needed



QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis

  • Ability to spend up to 100% of work time standing or moving about the departments. Physical activities include bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, carrying, walking and/or reaching on a frequent basis

  • Adherence to Kohl's policy and procedures
