Requirements/Responsibilities


  • Complete opening and closing checklists.

  • Refer to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties.

  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.

  • Understands and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.

  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.

  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, walls grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.

  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen.

  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.

  • Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems to Kitchen Manager.

  • Inform Kitchen Manager immediately of product shortages.

  • Uses our Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products. Do not rely on the memory of yourself or other employees.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty. Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.

  • At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers and kitchen personnel.

  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.

Our work continues to take shape as part of a broader shift in collective thinking around food & labor in the modern world (from food trucks & “know your farmer”, to AB 5 & gig worker rights). You will join a core team  that values collaborative decision-making and prides itself on scrappiness and adaptability. An Executive Director will help us increase our capacity as an organization that serves cooks and their communities. Your core responsibilities will be building people power and fundraising, but your work will also include refining our brand communications & org management: 


  • Fiscal oversight and fundraising: (40%)


    • Grow sustainable funding sources for core operating expenses and staff

    • Lead new fund development and grant-writing efforts, including engaging with both individual donors and aligned philanthropic organizations

Dandelion Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate factory in San Francisco’s Mission District. We make chocolate from only two ingredients, cocoa beans and cane sugar, and travel to origins as often as we can to build good, trusting relationships with the producers who grow and ferment the beans we buy. We’re always on the search for good cocoa beans, and now we’re looking for a Chocolate Maker to help our production team scale up and craft our single origin chocolate.

 

 

About You

You should love chocolate as much as we do, but you don’t have to know everything -- we’ll teach you everything we know. After adequate shadowing and hands-on training, you will join our production team in their daily routine—roasting, cracking, sorting and winnowing cocoa beans, then tempering and molding chocolate bars. This is a physical job, but it’s a labor of love. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team working at our new factory on 16th Street where we are scaling up our processes and production, while striving to make some of the world’s best chocolate.

You must be comfortable working with machinery and willing to go with the flow as processes change and develop and to work independently as well as with our team of chocolate makers. We prefer that candidates have worked in the food and beverage/culinary industry, as it helps with the pace and demands of this position. This full-time role starts at $18/hour with an increase after the ~3-month training period. Exceptions can be made for candidates with previous chocolate experience. Responsibilities


  • Production: Learning and performing all steps of chocolate production: sorting beans, roasting, winnowing, starting batches, refining and conching, tempering, and foiling bars.

  • R&D and Quality: Tasting and evaluating chocolate bars for flavor and quality.

  • Maintenance: Cleaning and maintaining our production facility, including machines.

  • Team: Work with the team to hit our daily production goals.

The San Francisco Giants and Tastes on the Fly today officially opened the first San Francisco Giants restaurant outside of Oracle Park in Terminal 3 at San Francisco International Airport. San Francisco Giants Clubhouse brings the Giants experience to United Airlines travelers with a unique ballpark-inspired menu, a wrap-around digital wall and Giants memorabilia.

We seek a team player with a minimum of two years upper management experience in a full service, restaurant facility, who has demonstrated excellent organization, follow through and team leadership. We offer competitive pay, bonus and a benefits package, including growth opportunities.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • PEOPLE MANAGEMENT! Supervise a staff of approximately 30 including servers, bartenders, hosts and bussers

  • Provide coaching and positive leadership and support to staff, fostering a real TEAM environment

  • Guest relations and heavy hands-on floor presence

  • Train new hires as well as conduct continuous training for current employees

  • Understand and enforce provisions of our IIPP and ensure all safe work practices are followed at all times

  • Foster company philosophies and guest first service culture.

  • Ensure quality and availability of products being ordered, stocked and sold.

  • Ensure only correct and consistent products are served to guests

  • Maintain and conduct inventory

  • Ensure superior cleanliness of restaurant and adherence to food safety and sanitation guideline

  • Administrative duties including employee documentation, cash counts and daily logs

  • Understand, follow and enforce company policies, procedures, steps of service, union contract provisions, morale initiatives etc.

  • This position reports directly the General Manager

Skills we are most interested in:


  • Must be able to effectively manage people, time, tasks, paperwork, products, safety and sanitation.

  • Managing our staff effectively requires knowledge of our company handbook as well as the union contract. Management style should be proactive, positive and mentoring. While discipline and policy enforcement come with the territory, the most successful managers are always fair and consistent with discipline and coach staff performance positively to avoid the need for discipline. Must be able to maintain professionalism at all times.

  • Strong candidates will also have good written communication skills for administrative tasks and a healthy amount of regular documentation needs. Experience with union employees a plus. Aloha experience a plus.
