 Associate Scientist


RATE: $28.00


We are a leading manufacturer in the pharmaceutical industry and we currently have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Associate Scientist! In this role you will be supporting manufacturing by performing small scale lab experiments in the area of cell culture and purification.


POSITION SUMMARY:



  • Perform routine lab operations in MSAT Purification lab

  • Executes purification process development studies

  • Executes small scale lab experiments following Standard Operation Procedures

  • (SOPs) and laboratory batch records (LBRs)

  • Follows laboratory safety protocols

  •  Collaborates with development scientists and cross-functional team members

  • Organizes and analyzes data from process development studies


SUCCESS PROFILE



  • Bachelor’s Degree in the Sciences is required

  • Hands-on experience working (at least 1 year) with AKTA Explorer/Pure liquid chromatography system

  • Tracking and preparing study-specific information utilizing databases, spreadsheets, and other tools.

  • Provide input and assist with harmonization of Clinical Operations databases and tracking tools.

  • Assist in the maintaining clinical information and training of Clinical Operations personnel in the clinical trials database (GILDA).

  • Processes re-supply drug shipments.

  • Assists with development of documents for site binders.

  • Assembles and coordinates distribution of site binders.

  • Under close supervision reviews and participates in the quality assurance of data or documents.

  • Arranges meeting logistics.

  • Drafts meeting agendas and assists in preparing meeting minutes.

  • The position interacts with other departments, as directed, to complete assigned tasks.

  • May assist with monitoring visits under the direct supervision of senior staff.

  • Travel may be required.

  • Assist with the planning and facilitation of investigator meeting and, when applicable, provide on location support during the meetings.

Essential Duties and Job Functions: We are seeking a highly motivated, creative and collaborative laboratory scientist to support discovery and development of therapeutic agents to treat non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and other fibrotic diseases. The successful candidate will participate in discovery and translational research aimed at identifying and characterizing novel therapeutic targets, investigating the mechanism of action of therapeutics, and defining optimal drug combinations. This individual must demonstrate the ability to



  • work independently as part of a team for cell culture maintenance of challenging cell lines and to perform highly technical cell-based assays to evaluate target biology.

  • Perform cell-based assays on cell lines and primary human cell cultures to support validation of novel therapeutics.

  • Proactively troubleshoot technical issues and recommend potential corrective actions based on personal observations and literature searches.

  • Work both independently and collaboratively to advance projects, perform studies with minimal supervision.


Knowledge, Experience and Skills: 5-7 years of experience with BS degree in a related scientific discipline. 3-6 years of experience with MS degree in a related scientific discipline.


The candidate must have extensive cell culture experience including human primary cell cultures (hepatocytes, stellate cells, fibroblasts, macrophages), and have operational understanding of modern cell biology and pharmacology techniques including methods to evaluate cell signaling (western blot, immunoprecipitation), immunoassays (eg. ELISA, MSD, or Luminex), gene expression analysis, tissue analysis (homogenization, cell isolation). Proficiency with basic data analysis programs (Excel, GraphPad Prism, etc.) and application of statistics. Applicants must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), and strong organizational and planning skills. The successful candidate must be able to manage more than one project at any given time, and work in a fast-paced, cross-functional and highly collaborative team environment.
