MoveOn’s Web Design intern will play a key role in supporting impactful campaigns through creating excellent user experience and design across our digital tools and websites. Work alongside MoveOn’s Product team to ideate, create, and implement digital designs that lift up progressive values, defend vulnerable communities, and mobilize millions of members and volunteer leaders.

Responsibilities:


  • Work with the Product team to conceptualize thoughtful, original design ideas that incorporate MoveOn member feedback and improve digital experiences

  • Design and style pages, elements, prototypes, layouts, and interfaces consistent with MoveOn’s branding library

  • Create and implement design changes for A/B testing on web pages and email

  • Using industry-standard apps, test web pages for functionality across browsers, resolutions, and devices to check designs and ensure a consistent experience

  • Deliver design assets in an organized manner consistent with MoveOn’s existing component library

  • Assist in usability studies for prototypes as-needed

Required skills and experience:


  • Design skills:


    • Proven work experience in graphic and/or web design in a professional environment

    • Proficiency in visual design and wireframing tools, such as Adobe Photoshop and programs such as Sketch, Adobe XD, etc

    • Ability to incorporate diverse and sometimes conflicting feedback into the design cycle and explain the purpose behind design decisions

    • Knowledgeable of best practices and trends in design, particularly for mobile, accessibility, and email

    • Empathy for users and ability to creatively solve problems through design, including familiarity with the UX research process



  • Technical skills:


    • Proficient in HTML/CSS and basic knowledge of PHP to build the front end  of your designs while working with a team of software engineers in a variety of environments. (ActionKit, Wordpress, 3rd party dashboards, etc)

    • Experience or interest in conversion rate optimization

    • QA Experience including user acceptance, compatibility, and accessibility testing  

    • Experience or interest in learning MoveOn’s suite of web tools, including WordPress, ActionKit, and Optimizely

    • Experience with WordPress plugins such as Elementor and GA is a plus. 

    • Experience or interest in SEO is a plus



  • Professional skills:


    • Self-directed with effective time management skills and proven ability to juggle multiple projects at a time 

    • Strong attention to detail, from design to technical implementation

    • Ability to be effective in an organization whose team members all work remotely. Overall Function  

Under the supervision of the Project Managers & Executive Director, the Project Associate will have an active role in our transportation behavior design initiatives as well as other Root Solutions projects, including, but not limited to:  


  • Summarizing and synthesizing existing research and case studies on the role of behavior design in transportation  

  • Preparing materials and presentations for submission to clients

  • Overseeing volunteers, prioritizing and managing tasks

  • Performing administrative and organizational tasks as needs arise 

  • Managing logistics and communications and executing stakeholder interviews

  • Developing, conducting and evaluating barriers analyses and other surveys

About the role


Credible is looking for a creative, inspiring Director of Product Design to guide the design team in crafting exceptional experiences for hundreds of thousands of users. We are in need of someone who has expertise collaborating with UX Designers, Full-Stack Engineers and Brand Designers. They need to be grounded in details, collaboration, and systems that help the greater good of the company, with an ability to grasp technical concepts and integrate them into the design strategy behind the system. This person will be expected to ask “why” or suggest a different angle when it comes to solving a problem and approach problems as a team player, without ego. They need to possess the ability to work with Product Designers to extract patterns from their flows, or to suggest use of existing patterns from the system.


The work to be prioritized as part of this role for 2020 includes:


1)    Identify and document components for the system by reviewing designs from the Product Design team, ensuring the components meet the needs of a design system, documenting and spec’ing, and collaborating with the Developers and Designers to oversee implementation. This also includes motion and micro-interactions.


2)    Create tooling in Figma for Designers to make it easier for them to find and use what is in the system. The ideal candidate is passionate about tools and process and will avidly explore many methods to fulfill this need - interviewing Designers within the company to iteratively gather input and feedback.


3)    Create a Design System site that acts as a catalog, communicating what is in the system and how it should be used. Serving the needs of both Designers and Developers. This includes design of the site, establishing navigation and information architecture as well as visual branding of the design system.

Reporting to Credible's VP of Product, you will mentor our small but talented design team, play a critical role in delivering important product initiatives, and help us mature our design processes.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead critical design projects, sometimes as the sole designer, sometimes guiding the work of other contributing designers

  • Mentor our product designers, and potentially one marketing designer. Foster their growth through development planning, collaborative work, and real-time design feedback and coaching

  • Partner with product counterparts to ensure strong execution from concept through launch and beyond

  • Drive greater visibility of the design team across the organization

  • Help drive continuous improvement in team performance and design quality

  • Assist with formulating and managing our product design roadmap, and with project planning and task prioritization

  • Participate in recruiting and onboarding activities for new designers over time as the business grows


Education and Experience:



  • 5+ years of progressive experience in UI/UX design or product design, with a focus on internet and/or mobile consumer products is required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Graphic Design, UI/UX, Web Design, HCI or a related field preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of design tools - Figma, Sketch, Illustrator, Photoshop, Principle, Framer, and any other tools needed to get the job done

  • An inspiring portfolio that demonstrates experience leading design projects, crafting design systems, working through complex user flows, and shipping products that are functional, intuitive and visually compelling

  • Experience applying user research methodologies and product data/analytics to inform design decisions

  • Meaningful experience working closely with product managers and engineers in a collaborative environment

YOU WILL:



  • Drive the design vision of the company, working closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Product Marketing leaders

  • Lead, inspire, recruit and run a world-class product design team

  • Generate flows, wireframe, and prototypes for all products across web and mobile platforms

  • Deliver digital graphics for marketing purposes across our website, graphics for blog posts/webpages, etc

  • Drive Design thinking throughout the organization and effectively lead cross-discipline work streams

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:



  • At least 10 years of product/UX design experience for web and mobile applications

  • Proven ability with both design oversight and hands-on creation of user experiences and visual design deliverables across product including user flows, wireframes, typography, and information design

  • Proven leader across marketing design including graphic design and creative assets

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Excellent communication and reasoning skills. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Bootstrap and responsive design is a plus

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:



  • Partner with the product management and engineering team to translate product requirements into elegant experiences

  • Design & solution for new features and enhancements by creating wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, IA diagrams, interaction specifications, prototypes (you are both a great visual designer and understand flows, user wants and needs)

  • Design and prototype multiple ideas quickly, and connect regularly with stakeholders and customers to validate product directions

  • Help define and communicate strategic design direction for the company platform

  • Work with enterprise users to understand pain points (both with the product and areas that we could be addressing with the product) and iterate on potential solutions

  • Conduct user research and know when user research is critical (we are a small, lean team)

COMING IN:



  • Bring 6+ years as UI/UX designer, product designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar experience on apps used by business professionals

  • Fluency in best practices for web-based and mobile design, and strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques

  • Track record of shipping beautiful visual designs and intuitive experiences on web and mobile

  • Academic background in graphic design, human-computer interaction, cognitive science, or related field

  • A portfolio featuring stellar user-centered design solutions across multiple interfaces and screen sizes

  • Creative problem-solver who can iterate with low-fidelity sketches of workflows and translate those into beautiful high-fidelity designs using a variety of design tools (Sketch, Zeplin, Invision, Framer, Origami, etc.)

  • Familiarity with the technical considerations needed when designing for the web and mobile

  • Visual design expertise and experience with design systems

  • Attention to detail and ability to get to the “why” before jumping into the “what”

  • Experience with B2B Enterprise, SaaS and agile development is a plus
