Job Summary: Support and lead press team in all aspects of press operation. Maintain and upkeep press, press area, and related materials to create consistent, quality work.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain a multi-color offset press printing quality multi-color work with critical color values and critical register requirements.

  • Review and understand job specifications to determine press set up, plate hanging, blanket and roller installation and settings, setting register and ink feed, feeding and delivering, and all press settings necessary to achieve a company and customer satisfying printed job.

  • Facilitate great production meeting and exceeding company expectations.

  • Provide a safe environment while teaching a crew safety of personnel and machinery, while following all company safety manuals and company safety procedures and initiatives.

  • Keeping a clean machine, while lubricating and completing all scheduled maintenance per the machine specifications while following all company maintenance procedures and guidelines.

  • Utilize all densitometry measurements in the production of a job including LAB color, density, dot gain, and trap. Also maintain proper chemistry using daily conductivity meters, refractometers, and Ph strips to insure proper fountain solution.


Perform all other related duties and projects as assigned by management.


Qualifications:



  • Minimum three years as a Lead Press Operator or combination Lead press operator and assistant operator or equivalent.

  • Ability to adequately view color accurately and identify print defects.

  • Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 10 to 25 pounds frequently.

  • Ability to stand and perform the requirements of the position up to 12 hours with a few short breaks.

  • Ability to utilize press densitometers to measure LAB color, density, dot gain, and trap. Also to properly use micrometers, refractometers, torque wrenches, and basic press tools efficiently.

  • Willingness to abide by all plant practices and procedures.

  • Overtime is an expected requirement.

  • Ability to maintain great attendance and tardy record.

  • Good knowledge of computers necessary to manage and run the press.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

Language Skills:


  • Ability to apply written and verbal instructions to set-up machine and operation

Mathematical Skills:


  • Perform simple mathematical calculations-addition, subtraction, multiplication

We currently have an open Press Operator (3rd Shift: Midnight – 8 am) position available at our Cincinnati, Ohio facility. In this role, you will setup and run presses. The starting pay potential for this position can be up to $22.00/hour depending on prior experience plus an additional $1.25/hour for shift differential.


Additionally, you will be responsible for the following:




  • Run Equipment: you will run printing press equipment you are assigned and trained on during your shift.


  • Clean Equipment: you will be vigilant towards cleaning anilox in a timely manner to assure no downtime on press.


  • Minimize Scrap: you will minimize scrap by having all cylinders, anilox, inks, doctor blades be ready before setup is performed.


  • Ensure Compliance: you will ensure departmental compliance with all certification requirements and will maintain good housekeeping practices in accordance with AIB/ISO standards and the ProAmpac Environmental policy. You will maintain quality of products being produced at or above the required specifications.


Successful candidates will bring with them the following requirements and skills:



  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)

  • Minimum 2-year manufacturing experience is required

  • Minimum of 2-year operating a printing press (narrow and wide web flexographic) is highly preferred

  • Job Stability – minimum 1 job in last 2 years or 2 jobs in last 5 years

  1. Run equipment at established rates, continuously monitor machine performance, clear jams, perform quick change at the feeder, and document any variables that may cause machine slowdown

  2. Maintain production schedule to meet cost, quality and customer service goals

  3. Complete required tooling set up for changeovers in accordance with best practices established by the department and resolve tooling issues during production run

  4. Perform equipment/machine operation inspections including examining the die for defects

  5. Troubleshoot machine faults on the die cut machine control panel to make machine specific adjustments, clear jams, and return machines to production ready running condition

  6. Perform both preventative and machine specific scheduled maintenance and machine service tasks on the Die Cut machine

  7. Inspect product quality as individual loads are ejected from the machine and make necessary modifications at the die to correct any quality issues caused by the die cutting process; ensure bad product is removed; and notify the Supervisor and the Quality Department of any quality issues

  8. Complete documentation for quality, production, and machine performance

  9. Use RF scanner to scan transactions to the Warehouse Management System and use Warehouse Management System to generate a label that corresponds to the item

  10. Use manual and/or electric pallet jack to transfer material to feeder section and to remove material from machine stacker/delivery section. 

  11. Perform daily housekeeping activities and lead and perform full machine sanitation as scheduled

  12. Train other operators as required

  13. Comply with all company policies and procedures including GMP, PPE, HACCP, LOTO, and JSA regulations

  14. Responsible for ensuring, where applicable, the product safety, quality, regulatory compliance and legality of all products produced and sold


Required Skills and Education:



  1. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent or trade school preferred

  2. Experience: 2 years’ experience operating and performing preventative and minor maintenance on a platen die cutter or equivalent equipment

  3. Certifications/ Licenses: Must successfully complete fork-lift certification requirements 

  4. Operate manual pallet jack and electric pallet jack as required. Ability to use RF scanner for WMS transactions. Knowledge of the use hand tools and the ability to use hand tools. Knowledge of product layout and product specifications. Knowledge of machine operation, mechanical systems, and electronic machine controls.

  5. Ability to read, understand, and comprehend Safety Rules; operating and maintenance instructions; quality procedures/quality check lists; and production data log.

  6. Ability to communicate production and machine issues to supervisors and others in work area.

The Flexographic Printing Press Operator’s primary function is to set up and operate flexo presses to produce items consistent with customer specifications.   This is a full-time, temp-to-hire position, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm in Cold Spring, KY. Work Environment


Work is performed in the plant with or near chemicals and operating equipment. Print Press Operator


Essential Job Functions:



  • Take the lead on all aspects of printing job - from set-up through to job completion

  • Work with Eagle's Quality team to complete a job approval checklist

  • Press Operators must monitor every aspect of a job as it runs, including web width, edge position, colors, print quality and screen quality

  • Document production issues, including material problems, down-time and plate-related problems

  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and core processes


Job Requirements :



  • Must have a high level of mechanical aptitude and be able to pass a Mechanical Reasoning test

  • Ideal candidates will have an understanding of in-line lamination process, as well as in-line slitting

  • Knowledge of and experience with a defect detection system

  • Must be able to work overtime as required by workload and customer-driven deadlines

  • Excellent work ethic, attitude and a strong willingness to learn


Physical Requirements



  • Must be able to continuously stand for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds or more

  • Must be able to stoop and kneel frequently

  • Must have excellent color vision and be able to detect color variations

  • Must complete standard ruler assessment

We are currently recruiting for a 2nd Shift Lead Flexographic Printing Press Operator to join our Gintzler International facility in Liberty Hill, TX. The Lead Flexographic Operator sets up and operates the printing press to produce pressure sensitive labels and related products. They will be responsible for providing guidance, direction and technical troubleshooting assistance to press operators on their assigned team.


Responsibilities:



  • Provides training as needed or requested to Operator Trainees and Press Operators to facilitate continuous improvement of technical and mechanical skills.

  • Able to operate presses utilizing flexographic press technologies with high attention to detail.

  • Provides technical and problem solving expertise to other operators who encounter problems.

  • Assists in the cross training of Press Operators to learn to become proficient operators of presses utilizing press technology which they are not proficient on.

  • Assists in orientation of new employees to Resource Label Group procedures, practices, safety and housekeeping rules.

  • Reads job order and loads dies into press, installs print cylinder on shaft and installs print cylinder in press.

  • Fills ink pans, screens and pumps with prescribed inks.

  • Inserts shaft through core and secures roll on press in feed position.

  • Splices end of roll to stock remaining on press and adjusts tension and feed as directed.

  • Starts press, adjusting speed and alignment of stock to the print cylinder as necessary.

  • Engages print cylinders; adjusts printing impression as necessary, places print cylinders lead-to-lead and runs down approval strip.

  • Cuts sample of approval strip from printed roll, inspects for imperfections such as print to print out of register, print to die out of register, missing impression, ink starvation or color adjustments, making adjustments as necessary.

  • Cleans plates, screens, print cylinders and dies as needed.

  • Performs daily, weekly and monthly maintenance as required. Supervisor must approve all maintenance.

  • Mixes inks to produce and maintain desired colors and viscosity.

  • Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards.


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), continuing education or technical training preferred

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience operating a flexographic printing press

  • Previous leadership experience managing a shift is recommended

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

Job Description


 The Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a press while adhering to customer specification, quality requirements, company standards, guideline and safety standards. This position is responsible for the overall completion of the job assigned to the press.


 



  • Inspections of printed material to ensure the correctness in all area of color, registration, stock, and all other customer specifications.

  • Adjusting and maintaining registration, color, perforations, and other customer specific printing specifications.

  • Observes the press operations to detect any machine or equipment malfunctions and moves to correct the issues.

  • Makes adjustments to all press machine parts and equipment: feeders, grippers, guides, feed wheels, cameras, and other machines parts, using proper equipment.

  • Conducts a visual inspection prior to printing of all material stock and ink for defects or noncompliance to job specifications.

  • Carries out the final inspection to ensure the material, ink, plates or screens, cylinder/rollers, tension, and all other necessary customer specifications are correct prior to the start of the running the job.

  • Review and interpret job specifications and work order instructions, delegates or carries out directions as needed.

  • Ensures all job related data (time and material) are entered into the ERP system (DISO).

  • Ensures all unused material goes back to the designated area after each jobs is finished running.

  • Ensure complete and proper line clearance has been conducted. Maintain the daily activity production log and all other required documentation for the press and work orders.Performs the general maintenance of the press or minor repairs.


 


Education


  • High School Diploma or General Equivalent Degree (GED).

 


Experience:



  • Knowledge of cGMP, ISO and Lean Manufacturing is a plus. Reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures, manuals and manufacturing documents including the system of Graphic specification/Graphic identical/Articles.

  • Experience with inks and material.

  • Experience with handling and proper caring of die cutting tools.

  • Experience with machine set-up

  • Experience with UV and water based inks preferred.

  • Experience working with vision systems preferred.

  • Working knowledge of quality procedures in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.

  • Intermediate level of computer knowledge in the Microsoft Office Suites.


Physical Requirements



  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

  • Standing for long periods of time.

  • Work activity requires repetitive bending, reaching, walking, stooping, and crouching, lifting, and climbing.
