Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education units, including 3 units in Infant/Toddler Development (required)

  • 1+ year Infant/Toddler Education Experience (preferred)

  • Knowledge of early childhood education and child development

  • Knowledge and experience with emergent curriculum - a plus

  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children

The Digital Literacy Instructor will be energetic and enthusiastic about providing quality digital literacy training to our learners and collaborating with team members to develop and improve digital literacy programs.   1. Deliver Digital Literacy Training ● Complete and document online assessments of individuals to determine computer skills and training needs. ● Follow established curriculum to provide remote, 1-on-1 or small group training to help adults learn and practice basic computer skills and how to use the Internet. ● Complete post-training assessments to confirm basic computer skills were achieved.

  2. Community Support ● Assist Program Manager in the orientation of new volunteers as needed.

We are growing and currently have several openings for Direct Care Counselor opportunities for individuals who have a real passion for helping, and love working with kids.  

 In this essential role you will provide onsite direct care and supervision in a residential setting, assisting our residents (kids) with developing key life skills such as self-care, communication, socialization, relationship building, and problem solving. Direct Care Counseling staff also support the children during community and recreational activities with friends, family and staff members.

Second shift (swing) 4pm-12am, and ONLY SOME day shifts 8am-4pm; both weekdays (Sunday-Thursday) and weekends (Friday-Sunday).  

 

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:


  1. An Associate’s Degree, preferably in childcare, social work, psychology, counseling, or human services related fields. High school diploma required. 


    1. Minimum of two years prior experience in a residential setting or facility working with children, seniors, or individuals with intellectual challenges is necessary; or at least one year work experience in a childcare, senior center, mental health or social service agency environment. 

    2. Pass all background and reference checks, which includes but not limited to DMV driving record, criminal, and LiveScan fingerprinting.

Position Overview

The Middle School Program Leader is a dynamic staff person who is able work directly with middle school age girls to spark academic achievement, motivation, confidence, persistence, and leadership. The Middle School Program Leader will work under the middle school All STARS (Sports, Technology, Academics, Responsibility and Sisterhood) team. The Program Leader is responsible for delivering a 3-5 day per week, after school program for girls attending school in Oakland for the 2020-21 school year. Girls Inc. of Alameda County’s All STARS program focuses on the following areas: community involvement and social justice; technology; health; leadership; sports and fitness; and academic achievement. A Girls Inc. Program Leader is professional, creative, flexible, fun, able to communicate with both girls and adults, and is passionate about working with middle school age girls.

Major Duties and Responsibilities


  • Meet with a group of 20 girls 3-5 days per week after school to implement the All STARS program during after school.

  •  Create a safe, respectful youth development-learning environment.

  • Plan and deliver age appropriate, informal learning curriculum in the areas of technology, sisterhood, leadership, sports, fitness, health, community involvement and social justice, and academic achievement.

  • Collaborate with other program staff to create weekly activity plans.

  • Provide daily homework assistance.

  • Facilitate independence, conflict resolution, and positive risk-taking in girls.

  • Participate in occasional evening or weekend events with participants and their families.

  • Passion for children and teaching

  • Preschool teachers must have a BA, preferably in Child Development, Human Development or Education specifically of Young Children. 12 semester Child Development units or more must be completed if you have a BA in an unrelated field

  • Previous experience with two, three or four year olds is mandatory

  • Ability to work with and openly share ideas in a team of professional and dedicated teachers

  • Ability to prepare and provide a beautiful learning environment each day in a classroom or outdoor environment

  • Knowledge in preparing a developmentally appropriate learning environment

  • Written and verbal English language skills to complete assessment reports of children's progress is required (strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary)

  • Knowledge of lesson planning and curriculum is important (we offer an array of teacher resources and exceptional mentoring)

  • Willingness to nurture and foster a specific small group of children and their parents during the school year, including constant communication


In addition the following skills and abilities are necessary:



  • Knowledge of NAEYC best practices, licensing requirements, universal precautions, child observation and assessment and unique learning styles

  • Ability to observe, see, hear and respond to children's needs

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds from floor to a waist high table 10-20 times per day

  • Ability to reach a child 30 feet away within 30 seconds without danger to the staff person's health

  • Ability to crouch to child's height and maintain eye contact at child's level

  • Ability to handle the stress and tension that contact with many children and parents bring every day

  • Ability to perform movements which include grasping, touching, pushing and pulling, manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination


Teaching positions are available for either part or full time. Fully qualified two year old, three year old and four year old teachers make $20-$25/hour or more depending upon length of commitment to our school, education and experience. A Child Development BA, Master Teacher, Site Supervisor or Program Director permit is highly acknowledged.

Palm Academy in Fremont CA, is conducting interviews for Children's English and Math Instructors for our JEI Instruction Center at Palm Academy.  This is a part time position teaching elementary children in math, reading and writing in small sessions, in small group settings using the JEI program.

  • $16-$22/hr based on experience

  • Approximately 4-5 days a week

  • Hours are from 3:30-6:00PM



Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Employ a variety of educational techniques using JEI Teaching Methods

  • Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments

  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate and individualized development plan for each child; taking care to include parents in the planning process.

  • Work and communicate with parents to increase their understanding of child development, including but not limited to developmental stages, developmental appropriateness, early literacy, and parental involvement.

  • Collaborate with other educators/teachers on pertinent information, updates and recommendation continuously

  • Observe and monitor each child to ensure their social competencies, interactions and cleanliness throughout each day

  • Prepares, executes and discusses early preschool feeding routines with parents/guardians to meet individual needs and

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures to ensure and maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

  • Ability to observe, assess and report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate channels

  • May perform other related duties


Requirements:



  • Must be fluent in English

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Must enjoy working with children

  • Must have elementary instruction background/experience

  • Highly motivated and energetic

  • Must be able to commit long term

  • Must be very organized, detailed oriented, and responsible

  • CPR and First Aid Certification preferred

  • Participates in required training programs, conferences, and training


Qualifications:



  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents and reports relating to safety rules, operating, instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
