OVERVIEW:

Provide high-quality instruction within a small school environment where every student is known and valued as an individual; uphold the mission and values of American Indian Model Schools (AIMS) and contribute to our goal that every student in California has access to a high-quality public education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Establish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief that every student will attend college.

  • Develop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities aligned with Common Core Standards and AIMS Instructional Guidelines.

  • Assess students regularly and analyze student results; refine and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needs.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices throughout the school; share best practices.

  • Communicate regularly with students and their families about classroom activities and student progress.

  • Involve parents and guardians as partners in their students’ education. -Manage student behavior to ensure every student is fully engaged.

  • Actively participate in professional development activities, and work closely with Head of School and Dean.

  • Maintain accurate student records including attendance.

  • Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs.

  • Support the mission, vision, and core values of AIM Schools.

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned from Head of School and Deans.

  • Flexibility of schedule to accommodate monthly Saturday School, Summer School, as well as additional after school tutoring

  • At the least, a 1 year commitment. A 3 year commitment is preferred and is eligible for a bonus at the end of the term.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities:


  • Knowledge and application of child cognitive development and various learning styles

  • Knowledge of various subject matter, including Common Core Standards and subject-specific frameworks

  • Familiarity of post-secondary requirements, ACT, SAT, and AP courses

  • Understanding and ability to create assessments according to standards every 6-8 weeks Ability and willingness to implement AIMS Instructional Guidelines and Best Practices -Aptitude to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data to inform next phase of teaching -Capacity and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices to better serve students -Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and community

  • Computer and Internet search skills 2) Minimum educational level:

  • Bachelors’ degree in subject being taught with a minimum 3.5 GPA

  • Valid California Teaching Credential

  • English Language Learner Authorization required -NCLB Highly Qualified 3) Experience required:

  • 1+ year working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant preferred

CRIL advocates and provides resources for people with disabilities to improve lives and make communities fully accessible.

Job Summary: This position reports directly to the Program Director and acts as an IL Generalist at the Tri-Valley branch office located at 3311 Pacific Ave, Livermore, CA 94550

We help people with disabilities achieve their independent living goals.

Supervised by: This position is under the supervision of the Program Director.

Positions Supervised: None.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Facilitate identification and development of independent living (IL) goals with each consumer. Provide opportunity for consumer to develop an Independent Living Plan (ILP).

  2. Provide individual and group peer support while teaching IL skills to enable persons with disabilities and their families to develop their own support systems and to decrease isolation and increase/maintain a positive self-image.

  3. Teach specific IL skills that focus on enabling consumers to develop assertive communication skills and problem solving abilities that allow the consumer to exercise self-advocacy effectively.

  4. Input all required consumer data (all Intake, notes and indirect services information) into the CRIL’s consumer database. Reports are generated monthly.

  5. Teach problem solving and other appropriate IL skills training to facilitate successful goal achievement by consumers.

  6. Model skills and advocate for the rights, equal treatment, and appropriate policies that effect persons with disabilities.

OTHER SPECIFIC DUTIES:


  1. Work with consumers will be generated predominantly through in-person office visits, home visits and other community-based activities.

  2. Report to Program Director on work accomplished in the Tri-Valley area.

  3. Must have reliable transportation to independently travel freely in the Tri-Valley area or other parts of Alameda County.

  4. Deliver all needed core services (e.g., housing, personal assistance referral, information and referral, peer support, independent skills training, individual/systems advocacy, basic assistive technology and advocacy and support the encouragement of financial independence).

  5. Refer to other CRIL staff or community agencies for additional services or follow-up, such as Assistive Technology I & R, Employment Services, Personal Counseling, etc.

MINIMUM EXPECTATIONS:


  1. Develop local resources, network with other service providers, and outreach to the community.

  2. Travel required in the Tri-Valley area and other parts of Alameda County as needed.

  3. Complete and accurately maintain consumer records and statistics on time.

  4. Supervise all volunteers and interns assigned to the Coordinator position.

  5. Attend local community meetings, CRIL staff meetings, workshops, trainings and represent the interests of CRIL in a professional manner to improve the quality of services and/or information to consumers.

  6. Coordinate and communicate on a regular basis with other CRIL staff to insure that consumer service needs are being met. Consult with and cross-train other CRIL IL Coordinators in area of specific duties.

  7. Ability to manage own work load and juggle multiple tasks in a self-directed manner.

  8. Execute other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  1. BA degree in education, psychology, social service or allied health field or AA with 2 years experience in counseling & IL skills training of persons with disabilities.

  2. Demonstrated ability to teach and model the independent living philosophy with consumers and to incorporate it into everyday job performance.

  3. Familiarity with different disability groups and disability issues and/or life experience with disability necessary.

  4. Ability to exercise professional conduct in all facets of work.

  5. Intermediate computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, database entry).

  6. Reliable transportation and good driving record. Must maintain minimum insurance coverage as required by state law.

  7. Good written and oral communication skills.

  8. Personal experience with disability preferred.

  9. Conversational in Spanish or Asian language or ASL preferred.

Urban Adventure Camps is a summer day camp that takes groups of children on daily field trips using public transportation. We visit the top museums, science centers, and urban attractions around the Bay Area and teach children about the related subjects. Weeks are subject specific. Campers range in age from 8-15 and group size is a maximum of 15 students. Instructors are group leaders with counselors as their assistants.

As a Youth Sports Coach with ANTS (America's Next Talented Stars), you'll lead your own FUN weekly after school program at one of our Bay Area partner elementary schools. We offer enrichment programs in tennis, basketball, yoga, soccer, and more! If interested and your schedule permits, you may coach different sports multiple days of the week. Programs begin in January 2020 and last through May with programs occurring once/week. Time commitment is 1-8 hrs per week, depending on how many programs you coach. We provide all necessary training, equipment, and support. We're hiring for both head and assistant coaches. Coach Responsibilities

Schedule

Classes generally take place once/week on the same day each week. Classes take places between the hours of 2pm - 4:30pm, so you must be available to coach in the afternoons on your program day. Classes last for one hour, with ~30 minutes of paid set-up and take-down time. Some of our programs offer back-to-back classes for different age groups. Requirements


  • Transportation: Coaches must have reliable transportation to get to their various coaching sites. You may be required to bring equipment to & from class so a vehicle is very helpful.

  • Communication: Have strong communication skills. It is required for coaches to communicate with ANTS, parents, and site staff through email and phone.

AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM ASSISTANT

General Summary

Substitute Teachers at Early Bird assist in a variety of teaching and learning environments with infant and toddler age children. Substitutes assist with on-floor program participation and care of the children and tasks that support the smooth operation of the program such as set-up and cleaning up of meals and activities. Substitutes step in to care for the care group of a regular teacher who is out for the day.

Assures on-going, age-appropriate activities and development of children. Implements the curriculum as needed and under the direction of regular teaching staff. Provides a safe environment for all children at all times.

Essential Functions

· Maintains continuous visual supervision of the children at all times.

· Fosters cooperative behavior and the development of social skills using positive reinforcement and guidance.

· Assists in the implementation of age appropriate activities, as directed.

· Invited to attend center’s staff meetings, parent nights and other center events.

· Guides children in health and safety practices and self-care.

· Observes children to detect signs of ill health. Immediately reports any concerns to center staff.

· Communicates with parents and staff in a professional manner.

· Maintains, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the teacher that is out for the day.

· Establishes positive working relationships with center staff.

· Creates a climate that promotes fairness and respect.

· Maintains confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff or parent/guardian.

· Familiar with emergency procedures.

· Substitutes may not be left alone with a child and must be under the supervision of a head teacher.

· Able to observe, see, hear and respond to children's needs in all areas of center grounds and during off-site excursions.

· Able to safely lift 30 pounds from floor to waist level 25 to 100 times per day. Required to ask for assistance for lifting over 30 pounds.

· Able to respond to a child's needs 30 feet away within 30 seconds without danger to the staff person's health.

· Able to work in indoors or outdoors with various temperatures and noise levels.

· Able to stand for long periods of time with frequent kneeling, stooping, or crouching.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of at least six semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development OR continued enrollment in these courses until 6 units have been completed. Plus some experience in child care or a related environment, which could include parenting, grandparenting, volunteer work with children or baby-sitting, OR

Completion of at least 2 semester units in any area of the following: Recreation, Physical Education, Human Services, Social Welfare, Nursing, Psychology, Sociology, Home Economics or School Age classes and continued enrollment in these courses until 6 units have been completed. Plus some experience in child care or a related environment, which could include parenting, grandparenting, volunteer work with children or baby-sitting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, including Core* units, plus 6 months experience

*Core Units: Child Development; Child, Family, Community; Program/Curriculum; and Infant Development

The following additional qualification is preferred: CPR/First Aid certification.

Contra Costa ARC is a nonprofit organization committed to providing quality services and supports to children with special needs and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are currently recruiting for an Early Intervention Specialist (Non-Credentialed Preschool Teacher) to work with preschool-aged children (18 mos to age three) with communication or social delays, developmental delays, and behavioral and/or emotional challenges in our early intervention program in Richmond near San Pablo.

ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) and RBT (Registered Behavior Therapy) professionals are encouraged to apply, and will appreciate our steady, consistent hours and location. Experience as a preschool teacher and/or with preschool-aged children on the Autism spectrum is strongly preferred.

Our early intervention programs and preschools provide a well-structured environment and activities that are designed to meet the developmental and behavioral goals and needs of each child. Teachers lead activities that focus on the areas of speech and language development, fine and gross motor development, sensory integration, and social development. 

Contra Costa ARC not only provides services to children, but maintains a family-centered approach providing family support, parent counseling, and parent education.

Responsibilities: Teachers conduct classes and evaluate children in class and program activities and prepare Individual Program Plan for each child. Plan and implement daily activities, including class, music and lunch. Participate in parent and staff meetings. Maintain close contact with parents and/or caregivers via personal contact, telephone calls and notebooks. Supervise the work of the teacher assistant. Write reports on children's progress toward goals.

Minimum Requirements include


  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Development or related field with experience teaching children with developmental delays. 

  • 12 Early Childhood Education units required, including 3 units of Infant/Toddler Care (or the willingness to obtain). 

  • Must meet State licensing requirements involving health screening and Department of Justice clearance including fingerprinting and background check. 

  • Experience working with children on autism spectrum helpful. 

  • Good written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Driver's license and good driving record required. 

  • Spanish speaking a plus.

Compensation: $16.50/hr + great benefits!
