This is an opportunity for you to use the skills you have worked so hard to attain as well as broaden your knowledge and training in a risk-free environment.


The compensation is on a per evaluation basis. Each evaluation for disability is an objective history and physical exam including a brief record review and dictation


You must be licensed and in good standing with the Nevada State Medical Board. The work is risk-free because you examine each individual one time. There is no overhead, treating, prescribing or follow-up. You would not be asked to make the decision as to whether the claimant is disabled. The decision is made by the individual’s caseworker at the Social Security Disability Office.


There is no overhead because you perform all exams in our clinics. Support staff is provided, the dictation line is toll-free and our transcription department will transcribe your dictated reports. We handle all administrative issues, as well as the professional liability insurance coverage.

  • Essential job functions are focused on patient assessment, effective use of resources, teamwork, innovation and continuous quality improvement.

  • Interview patients before the day of surgery, assessing and obtaining history, laboratory work, and diagnostic testing.

  • Assess the physical and psychosocial health of patients having surgical procedures by performing physical examinations and ordering pertinent lab work if needed.

  • Prepare patients and families physically and emotionally for their anesthesia experience through interview, physical assessment and education.

  • Consults appropriately with collaborating physicians, anesthesia team and perioperative team in accordance to guidelines.

  • Monitor and evaluate the patient’s treatment and health care plan for effectiveness and coordinate admission and discharge for pain management inpatients, including assurance that appropriate discharge prescriptions and follow up appointments are made.

  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to patient optimization, chart completion, and high patient/family satisfaction.

  • Assist with the on-going Quality Improvement process and initiatives in order to enhance the quality of patient care.  Must be cheerful and empathetic.  Must adopt and promote PSA’s corporate customer service culture.


Requirements:



  • Masters or Doctoral level degree as Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner or Medical Physician Assistant with a current license to practice in the State of Georgia

  • Physician Assistants must also have a current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

  • Current BLS certification

  • Attainment of ACLS within one year


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Knowledgeable in acute care adult medical and surgical care, performing assessments, planning patient care, providing direct care, and educating and orienting families and staff.

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), with Cerner experience preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with acute inpatient care and/or cardiology, pulmonary, critical care, pre-op or PACU is preferred.

  • Prior Pre-admissions team experience supporting patients preparing for surgeries and procedures preferred but not required.

Monday - Friday days; One to two (4) hour weekend day per month.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide healthcare services for the entire period of performance at the VASDHS or VASDHS CBOC on an as-needed basis. The usual work day will be from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (PDT) on weekdays. The physician will do an outpatient clinic or inpatient clinics during the weekdays per regular clinic schedules usually from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (PDT) daily. The physician shall schedule and perform procedures as appropriate.

  • Counsel and educate Veteran-patients, families, and VASDHS medical staff about general healthcare topics and concerns.

  • Contract Family Practice Physicians shall prescribe drugs and tests necessary to provide care.

Qualifications:



  • Family Practice Physicians shall be duly licensed in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or the District of Columbia (D.C.) and residency trained in the specialty of Family Practice Medicine they are providing (THE CONTRACT PHYSICIAN(S) MUST HAVE GRADUATED FROM AN APPROVED SCHOOL AND COMPLETED A RESIDENCY OR FELLOWSHIP ACCEPTABLE TO THE SURGEON GENERAL), credentialed by the appropriate civilian American Medical Association specialty association, and indemnified by an appropriate/legal third-party corporate entity for their professional activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • 1+ year of clinical experience in highest level of education OR 3+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse

  • Ability to obtain DEA licensure / prescriptive authority post-hire in states where applicable

  • Ability to spend at least 1 hour with a patient in their home, which may be in understaffed or remote areas, in the presence of pets or individuals who are tobacco users
