General Summary

Your primary mission in this position would be to empower our current staff to perform to the best of their abilities and reach their maximum potential. Essentially you'd be a coach to them. You would lead our team of 9 walkers and engage with our 150+ clients while working directly with the owner and business manager to ensure the company runs smoothly. You’d be a part of our management triad. It is our primary focus to find someone with the skills for this position who believes in that line.

 

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Walk with each member of the staff in consistent rotations.

  • Your number one goal is to empower leaders so the staff is self sufficient. Keep them happy. Keep them learning. Hold them to our standards. Continue progression in all of them and the company. The proof of a good leader is in how many leaders they can create.

  • A core responsibility of this position which does take roughly 10% of the focus is covering other teammates’ planned vacations and unplanned sick days by walking their packs when they’re out.

WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION, JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • 1+ years management or asst management experience with progressively more responsibility managing multi-person teams.

  • High School Graduate or GED, Bachelors preferred.

  • 1+ years owning or handling dogs.

  • Must live in San Francisco, no Bay Bridge commuters.

  • Must own a SUV/van/wagon/truck with bed-cover. No exception, unless you buy one.

  • Must be able to pet sit in your home.

Ideal candidate has at least 2 years of grooming experience.



  • Training and experience grooming common dog breeds.


  • Must be able to read, write legibly, and communicate clearly in English both in person and on the telephone.


  • Must have the physical strength and ability to lift and carry a pet or other object weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance. Must be able to assist in lifting patients or other objects weighing more than 35 pounds.


  • Must be able to work energetically for the entire work day. The day does not end until all the scheduled grooms for that day have been completed and the groom area is cleaned and odor free.


  • Groomers must physically hold and safely restrain pets who may struggle, scratch, or try to bite. This requires the emotional ability to remain calm and compassionate with animals that are reacting to fear and/or pain.



Groomers must be able to operate equipment and use supplies pertinent to carrying out their duties, including but not limited to bathing and drying equipment and cleaning equipment and supplies.


Commission starts at 53%.

The role of Pet Stylist is a very important component to the overall guest experience.   • Promptly notify manager if PETSpa supplies are needed (bandana, shampoos, etc)


  • Maintain a sanitary and healthy environment by following PETSuites standards of cleaning and disinfecting PETSpa. See below for details.


  • Cleaning is essential: All hair must be swept off floor in a timely manner. Bathing and drying rooms must be cleaned before going home. Grooming area must be tidy (windows cleaned, floor mopped, computer station cleaned.)


  • Disinfecting of drying rooms is crucial. Use Envirosol disinfectant daily and bleach weekly on all drying rooms.


  • Monitor guest’s health while grooming or bathing. Report any unusual concerns to the general manager or senior supervisor.


  • Ensure the guest has water and a chance to “go potty” if he or she is in the PETSpa for over 2 hours.


  • Follow all PETSuites standards of safety with regards to handling guests, particularly aggressive guests and escape artists


  • Pay specific attention to kennel tags, (Meds Person to Feed, Aggressive, Separate for Feeding, etc.)


  • Adhere to PETSuites pricing guidelines. Get prior approval from manager or pet’s owner before any additional costs are added to service.


  • Effectively communicate to pet care staff that guest is in the PETSpa (use PETSpa tags).


  • Adhere to procedures in identifying pets while they are in the PETSpa (groom cards, name bands.)


  • Promptly give any laundry to pet care so that it can be cleaned.



 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing and grasping.


  • Talking and hearing to effectively convey information and understand instructions.


  • Ability to communicate effectively with other staff members.
