General Summary

Your primary mission in this position would be to empower our current staff to perform to the best of their abilities and reach their maximum potential. Essentially you'd be a coach to them. Good coaches change the game, but great coaches change a life. We believe in our company being a place where people can improve their life, both personally and professionally, even though we're just a dog walking company.

You would lead our team of 9 walkers and engage with our 150+ clients while working directly with the owner and business manager to ensure the company runs smoothly. You’d be a part of our management triad. Our manager's mission statement reads, "You grow a company by growing people, and our complementary management triad is focused doggedly on growth, first in ourselves, then in others, as we dig up happiness everywhere we go." It is our primary focus to find someone with the skills for this position who believes in that line.

 

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Walk with each member of the staff in consistent rotations.

  • Your number one goal is to empower leaders so the staff is self sufficient. Keep them happy. Keep them learning. Hold them to our standards. Continue progression in all of them and the company. The proof of a good leader is in how many leaders they can create.

  • A core responsibility of this position which does take roughly 10% of the focus is covering other teammates’ planned vacations and unplanned sick days by walking their packs when they’re out.

WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION, JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • 1+ years management or asst management experience with progressively more responsibility managing multi-person teams.

  • High School Graduate or GED, Bachelors preferred.

  • 1+ years owning or handling dogs.

  • Must live in San Francisco, no Bay Bridge commuters.

  • Must own a SUV/van/wagon/truck with bed-cover. No exception, unless you buy one.

  • Must be able to pet sit in your home.

INCOME: Starting at $35k base salary with continual room for growth. Dog sitting opportunities easily add over $1k per month. With this addition your annual income will be well above your base salary.

General Responsibilities

○ Responsible for Dog Care in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.  

Facilities & Safety 

○ Ensure cleanliness of all rescue spaces, particularly kennels and dog-related areas, this includes deep cleaning kennels

○ Human Safety (Volunteers, Staff, Adopters, etc.): follow safety protocols throughout our spaces  

Dog Operations 

○ Ensure the safety, health, and well-being of dogs under our care 

○ Feed and care for the dogs on a daily basis

○ Document behavior and conduct behavioral assessment of dogs 

○ Track incident reports, ensure they’re written and that reporting forms are available for all volunteers, adopters, and staff onsite 

○ Match dogs and assignment into kennel areas  

○  Keep track of dogs and where they’re allocated 

○ Grade dogs for our volunteers and keep it up-to-date 

○ Ensure dogs receive medical attention, when needed 

○ Responsible for intake of animals - ensuring space and medical supplies are prepared for intakes

Supporting Family Dog Rescue departments 

○ Support & collaborate with teams within Family Dog Rescue (Adoptions, Volunteer, & Corporate Engagement)

  • We are an expanding small local business offering dog training, walking and boarding services in Oakland and Berkeley.

  • We are searching for folks with a zeal for life and a love of the outdoors to commit to our team. This position involves walking an on leash pack of up to 6 dogs 3 days/ week. If you have space to board a dog or two in your home when owners travel this will also be sporadically available. You will receive extensive training on how to walk a pack and train dogs. We are looking for the right person who wants to make a long term commitment and grow with us. 

About the position:


  • Pack walks are on-leash neighborhood walks. We emphasize dogs heeling and listening to commands, many of the dogs are active training clients as well.

  • You will walk 3-6 dogs per walk (the more dogs you walk, the more money you make). During the walk you will pose the dogs for a fun pic that gets texted to the clients. Check out some of our work on Instagram!

  • The current position is for 3 days/week, but there is potential to grow this to a 5-day/week position, or we may split it into two separate roles depending on applicants.

About You



  • You have a reliable vehicle that can hold up to six dogs (hatchbacks, SUVs, or truck w/ shell). 

  • You enjoy working outside and are available roughly 9 am-3:30 pm, M-F. (Current schedule we have is 3 days a week walking Mon/Tue/Thur- but we really value folks who can pickup shifts occassionally so everyone on the team can travel)

  • You love dogs! 

  • You can commit for a minimum of 1 year.  

  • You love being outdoors.

  • You enjoy working solo, yet have a knack for customer service.

  • You are very reliable.

City of Paws Pet Care is a professional dog walking, pet sitting and pet retail company located in Manayunk, Philadelphia. Established in 2016, we have become the preferred pet care provider in our service area and we need your help to ensure our continued success! We are seeking responsible, dedicated pet lovers to join our team as a part-time store associate. If you're an animal lover and have a knack for customer service, this job is meant for you!


What is the employment opportunity?


We are looking for a Store Associate to help us grow our retail store on Main St in Manayunk! This role involves:



  • Assisting customers and their pets in our store

  • Being knowledgeable on the products we carry

  • Making recommendations based on pet's needs

  • Promoting our pet care services to customers

  • Fitting harnesses on dogs in the store

  • Managing inventory and shelving products

  • Cleaning and maintaining store

  • Opening and/or closing the store each shift

  • Assisting with additional projects on an as-needed basis


This is a part-time key holder position, and all shifts (morning, afternoon, evening and weekend) are available. There is also room to discuss a part-time Pet Care position alongside the Store Associate role.
