San Francisco, CA

The two main requirements are that you'd have to own your own SUV, van, wagon, or truck and live in San Francisco or one of the nearby peninsula areas, not over a bridge.

There is no previous experience required. We're looking for a good fit personality-wise for someone with nice job references. The job requires that you love dogs, have extreme patience, and that you're willing to learn a lot and develop some skills that can pay your bills.

The job is full time Monday through Friday 10-4 pm. There are opportunities for morning or evening private dog walks as well as pet sitting that can make you hundreds more on the side every month.

Starting pay during training is $19/hr for the first part, $20/hr for the second part, and $21 once you're done training, typically in the first couple months. There is room for promotion up to $24/hr and then for people that are here for over a year and who make commitments to advancing their dog skills and management of the staff there are salaried positions starting at $30,000 annually. Gas is directly reimbursed. We currently have 5 people making salaries and 3 making hourly wages, at least 2 of which look like they'll advance to salary.

If you're interested please write a short, professional message. DO NOT FORGET to include contact info. The interview process is one phone call, follow up with your references, and then an in person interview in the field with the dogs at either 1115am or 145pm any M-F.

We're hiring two people as soon as possible.

Canine Specialist

PlayBow Dog Daycare

4d ago

San Francisco, CA

Bookmark this job to apply later.

Each morning, right at sunrise, a pack of young and rambunctious puppies drag their parents into our daycare, and can't wait to greet their fellow pup-mates. The pups are full of energy and literally bouncing off the walls. Sometimes they play with each other nicely, but other times, they play too rough. Or they may have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed that morning, and would prefer to stay away from the other dogs that day. On top of that, the pups are prone to having accidents, usually of the pottying variety.

This is where you come in. As a Canine Specialist, you will be in charge of the dogs when they want to play with each other, and when they don't. You'll encourage them to play nicely with each other, but must be ready to step in and interrupt them when they start to play too rough. You'll also need to recognize when a dog is having a bad hair day, and needs your help to keep the other dogs away. Your day will also be filled with constant cleaning, as potty accidents are frequent, and must be cleaned immediately.

All our team members are passionate about caring for pets.  We work together as a team, and are committed to being the best in the industry.  The work is hard, but we always carry a positive attitude, and recognize that our hard work is helping dogs live a happier and healthier lifestyle.  When we do a great job, we give credit to the team members that made it possible.

Key Results Areas:

Safe animal care — handling dogs ethically, and keeping them safe with minimal fights and injuries

Fun animal care — keep dogs engaged and happy through physical activity, mental activity, and dog training games

Cleanliness and sanitation — keeping the facility clean and odor-free

Client interactions — always eager to help our pet parents and provide them with frequent stories about their pup in daycare

Attendance — punctuality and prompt communication about running late and scheduling conflicts

Communication — frequent communication about the dogs, customers, and how to improve our daycare

Additional Requirements:

• Passion and love for all canines
• Great at talking to people
• Always clean and organized
• Comfortable with all dogs, including large dogs
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs
• Perform physically strenuous work all-day
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Able to start shifts as early as 6:30 AM
• Must be available Tuesday and Thursday mornings
• Takes initiative and is innovative in a start-up type of environment

Previous experience in dog care helpful, but not required. We will provide training in play group management, dog handling techniques, and sanitation.

Compensation range is $14-$16 per hour, depending on performance.  We also provide an opportunity to earn performance-based bonuses and additional income opportunities.

Health care benefits are also available.

To summarize, we are looking for individuals who find immense joy in interacting with animals and their human pet parents.  We are also looking for individuals who have an appreciation for new businesses, new ideas, and a strong desire to achieve great results in a supportive team environment.

Please send a resume and cover letter to woof*AT*playbowdogs*DOT*com

Please include the following information in your cover letter:
• Detailed availability weekdays and weekends
• Whether you are seeking a part-time or full-time position
• Your experience-level with pets
• Your favorite breed of dog
• Your #1 favorite thing about dogs
• Why you would be an excellent addition to our new team

Calling all pet lovers! Heaven Sent Pet Care, a professional dog walking company (serving Evanston, Wilmette, and Kenilworth) is currently looking for dynamic, caring, and trustworthy pet lovers to join our expanding team. Start making supplemental income doing what you love!

We are currently hiring for part-time DAILY DOG WALKERS and we will be thorough in finding the next good "fit" for our expanding team. If you love to spend time outdoors, are a self-starter, and are able to work independently and manage a changing schedule, this may be the job for you!

Our services:

Our "Daily Dog" walking services are typically performed Monday through Friday between between the hours of 10am-5pm. (Our busiest time frame is between 11am-3pm).

We do private visits/walks for our clients. We never do "pack walks" (walking multiple clients dogs at a time).

Flexibility!

Hours -- you get to choose how many 1/2-hour pet visits a day you do.

Days -- we work with our walkers to find a time frame and amount of visits per day that works with them. It is our preference that candidates have some consistent availability Monday through Friday, and are available during our busiest time frame between 11a-3pm.

Consistent and predictable work!

From week to week you have the same group of dogs to work with and you can count on how much work you will have.

Typically, we will start out walkers with shorter route and build it up as the walker is comfortable. Most of our current walkers complete between 4-8 visits daily.

We offer administrative support to our walkers:

We provide a professional work environment. This is a supported position and we are office staffed from 8am-4pm Monday through Friday for any questions or help a walker might need.

We also have emergency contacts for walkers, if an issue arises after business hours. We also offer continuing training and tips for new walkers to become successful in this industry.

Our fees:

Each of our staff is an independent contractor and gets paid a percentage of the client fee charged. We pay every other week via Direct Deposit to your account.

The rate walkers are paid ranges between $6.46-$8.50 per HALF HOUR visit (equivalent averages to around $13-16 per hour).

We are looking for candidates whose priority is providing quality care to our furry clients and their owners. If money is your primary motivation, this may not be the job (nor the industry) for you.

We are looking for candidates who:

Are organized, dependable, trustworthy, timely, and professional.

Have great customer service and communication skills.

Are team players who can handle last-minute changes and requests from clients.

Are able to work independently and responsibly.

Enjoy being outside in all four seasons and the weather that comes with them! (Rain, snow, heat, cold, wind...)

Are interested in long-term work. We view dog-walking as a career choice and do not often hire just seasonally or temporarily. If you are looking for short-term work just to "get by" between other jobs, we are not the right fit.

Love Animals! You don't have to have any animal work experience, but we find it is helpful if you have at least had pets of your own before.

You need to be at least 21 years old, able to pass a background/criminal check, and have at least 2 references.

You need to have excellent dog-handling skills and intuition to walk and control dogs of all sizes and breeds.

You also need to handle the activity level of walking dogs for 2-6 hours per day (you choose the amount).

You need to have: (1) a reliable insured automobile and a valid driver's license (2) a computer with access to the internet, (3) a printer, (4) a smartphone (preferably with a data plan or texting).

Because Heaven Sent does not compensate for travel time/commute, it is best if you live in or near one of our service areas (Wilmette, Evanston, or Kenilworth).

Interested in applying? Please reply to this posting to tell us a little about yourself, including your answers to the following questions:

  1. Are you over 21 years of age?
  2. Do you have a car?
  3. Where do you live? (Which neighborhood?)
  4. What appeals to you about working with a dog walking team?
  5. Please describe your personal pet experience (can be personal or professional).
  6. Do you have any allergies to pets?
  7. Are you comfortable around cats? Do you enjoy being around them?
  8. Are you currently working? (List where you work, location, and what hours. If you are not currently working, please list your last place of employment and why you left.)
  9. Are you a student/grad student? What are you studying and when do you take classes (Daytime, evenings, Weekends, online, etc.)
  10. Do you have a computer? Access to internet? Access to a printer for daily use?
  11. Is your cell phone a smart phone with a data plan? If not, do you have texting capabilities?
  12. What hours and days are you available to work with us? It is helpful if you can be as specific as possible (For example: "Mon-Friday 10am-3pm" or "Mon-Weds 11-4pm, Thurs/Fri 9am-3pm", etc.
  13. What is your estimated duration of employment in this type of position? 3-4 months, 4-6 months, 6-8 months, 8 months to 1 year, or longer?

Own a SUV/van/wagon/truck w bed cover? (Sorry no exceptions, unless you buy one.

Live in SF? (No BRIDGE commuters, Daly City OK)

While many other dog walking jobs you'll see are on leash solo or with a couple dogs, our operation should not even be called dog walking at all. What we do is lead packs of dogs off leash in forests and on beaches, running them through adventures everyday. On the underbelly of it all though is learning and socialization. These dogs learn from you how to be well behaved and disciplined both on their own, with each other, and with their handlers. Teacher, boot cap instructor, pack leader, canine concierge; we where many hats, and sometimes they get eaten. What we're looking for is someone fun, energetic, positive, and looking to enjoy this career for a few years. So we ask you:

  • Own a SUV/van/wagon/truck w bed cover? (Sorry no exceptions, unless you buy one)
  • Live in SF? (No BRIDGE commuters, Daly City OK)
  • There is no previous dog experience required!
  • Do you LOVE dogs?
  • Athletic, energetic and looking to stay fit?
  • Know the City's layout?
  • Have a cell phone and know how to use it?
  • Able to commit to a year or more?
  • Friendly, outgoing, and customer savvy?
  • Have extreme patience?!
  • Eager to learn? To teach?

If you can rightfully answer "yes" to each and every of the preceding questions, apply now. These are all "must have" qualities to keep our company at the forefront of the industry. Even though these are seemingly basic, they are at the heart of what we do. Be not mistaken, we are top tier and need you to be, too. We won SF's #1 Dog Walking company in three separate publications just this year.

If you're still reading, you're probably looking for this last set of details: MONEY!!

Trainee $14/hr when riding along or doing after hours training meetings. $19/hr when driving alone

Dogtoral Candidate $20/hr

Puppy Professor - $21

Dean Of Dogs - $22/hr

Assistant Field Managers - $23/hr

Field Managers - $30,000 annual salary (~$1,150/paycheck)

Chief Happiness Officer - $32,500 annual salary ($1,250/paycheck)

Chief Operations Officer - $37,700 annual salary ($1,450/paycheck)

You shadow for a week, taking in $14/hour. Essentially you do nothing but ride along, meet the dogs and coworkers, and learn the basics of the daily routine. Not bad at all. Week #2 is a bit different, so we up you to $19/hour. You start picking up your own packs of dogs and meet up with me and other staff at our walking locations - typically Crissy Field and the forest at the Presidio. You start keeping track of your mileage and will be reimbursed gallon for gallon. You learn. You're bumped up to $20 for 2nd leg of training, and after your training is complete, typically the first two months of employ, $21/hour. You'll get your dog walker certification ($800 you don't have to spend) and ready to go. The longer you stick with it, the more you involve yourself in our company mission, the more you demonstrate your willingness to work hard and grow professionally, the more you learn, the more you earn. We currently have 5/8 staffers on salary.

Typical shifts last five to six hours Monday-Friday, you start in the late morning and are home by early evening, roughly 10-4. If you want an 8 hour day that can be arranged. For us, there is no such thing as working nights, weekends, or holidays. However, good extra income is available to you through boarding, solo walks, and eventually private lessons on your own personal schedule as needed by our clientele. If you can sit dogs you can make thousands in cash!!!!!

If you want to work here simply describe your interest in a convincing, professional email.

LIST A FEW REFERENCES. At least one must be a former employer.

Your email is your ticket, so craft it well. Professional submissions will be looked at. We look forward to hearing from you.

Canine Delivery Specialist (Lots of Driving)

$15-20/hr

PlayBow Dog Daycare

12d ago

San Francisco, CA

Bookmark this job to apply later.

Each morning, right at sunrise, a pack of young and rambunctious puppies can’t wait to get to daycare so they can play with their fellow pup-mates.  But some parents can’t bring their dogs into daycare themselves.  That’s where you come in.

As a Canine Delivery Specialist, you will be in charge of ensuring the dogs make it safely to PlayBow for daycare, and return home just as safe.  The dogs' safety is in your hands.  You will be driving around approximately 10 dogs at a time, so you will need to learn how to safely and humanely handle multiple dogs while walking them on-leash.  In the beginning, you will be learning with just 2-3 dogs at a time.

A company vehicle will be provided.  However, your driving skills must be gentle, so you can provide the dogs with a smooth and comfortable ride.  When you arrive at people’s homes, the people may be home, so you must be courteous and professional about entering personal space and homes.

The hours for the Canine Delivery Specialist can be either full-time or part-time.  However, you must be available to work a split shift of 2-4 hours in the morning, and another 2-4 hours in the evening.  Thus, the minimum availability must be:

  • Morning pick-ups from 8am–10am
  • Evening drop-offs from 4pm–6pm

If you would like to work full time, we can provide additional hours to total 8 hours per day, by having you help us with taking care of the dogs at the daycare.

Key Performance Criteria:

Safe animal care — handling dogs ethically, keeping them safe and secure on-leash and in a car

Integrity — always honest, mindful of others and your environment, and respectful of our customer’s personal space and homes

Client interactions — always cheerful and eager to talk to our pet parents, listen to their needs and concerns, and provide them with frequent stories about their pup in daycare

Attendance — punctuality and prompt communication about running late and scheduling conflicts

Communication — frequent and clear communication about the dogs, customers, vehicle maintenance, and how to improve our daycare

Additional Requirements:

  • Passion and love for all canines
  • Great at talking to people
  • Always clean and organized
  • Comfortable with all dogs, including large dogs
  • Able to lift at least 70 lbs
  • Perform physically strenuous work
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid California state driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • We will need a copy of your DMV driving record after the interviews
  • Able to pass a criminal background and drug test
  • Available Mon–Fri for split shifts in morning and evening
  • Takes initiative and is innovative in a start-up type of environment

Previous experience in dog care helpful, but not required.  We will provide training in dog handling techniques, using different harnesses and leashes, and sanitation.

Compensation range is $15-20 per hour.  In most cases, it will start at $15 per hour, and increases to $20 as you are able to handle more dogs in a safe and efficient manner.

Health care benefits are also available.

More information about our daycare is available at:  www.playbowdogs.com

To apply to this position, please send a resume and cover letter to:  woof@playbowdogs.com

Please include the following information in your cover letter and application:

  • Availability weekday mornings and evenings
  • Your experience-level with driving and deliveries
  • Your experience-level with animals
  • Your favorite breed of dog
  • Why you would like to join our team
  • Why you would be an excellent addition to our new team
  • Any other information showing your enthusiasm for joining us
