Each morning, right at sunrise, a pack of young and rambunctious puppies drag their parents into our daycare, and can't wait to greet their fellow pup-mates. The pups are full of energy and literally bouncing off the walls. Sometimes they play with each other nicely, but other times, they play too rough. Or they may have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed that morning, and would prefer to stay away from the other dogs that day. On top of that, the pups are prone to having accidents, usually of the pottying variety.

This is where you come in. As a Canine Specialist, you will be in charge of the dogs when they want to play with each other, and when they don't. You'll encourage them to play nicely with each other, but must be ready to step in and interrupt them when they start to play too rough. You'll also need to recognize when a dog is having a bad hair day, and needs your help to keep the other dogs away. Your day will also be filled with constant cleaning, as potty accidents are frequent, and must be cleaned immediately.

All our team members are passionate about caring for pets.  We work together as a team, and are committed to being the best in the industry.  The work is hard, but we always carry a positive attitude, and recognize that our hard work is helping dogs live a happier and healthier lifestyle.  When we do a great job, we give credit to the team members that made it possible.

Key Results Areas:

Safe animal care — handling dogs ethically, and keeping them safe with minimal fights and injuries

Fun animal care — keep dogs engaged and happy through physical activity, mental activity, and dog training games

Cleanliness and sanitation — keeping the facility clean and odor-free

Client interactions — always eager to help our pet parents and provide them with frequent stories about their pup in daycare

Attendance — punctuality and prompt communication about running late and scheduling conflicts

Communication — frequent communication about the dogs, customers, and how to improve our daycare

Additional Requirements:

• Passion and love for all canines

• Great at talking to people

• Always clean and organized

• Comfortable with all dogs, including large dogs

• Able to lift at least 50 lbs

• Perform physically strenuous work all-day

• Must be 18 years of age or older

• Able to start shifts as early as 6:30 AM, or shifts that end as late as 9:00 PM

• Takes initiative and is innovative in a start-up type of environment

Previous experience in dog care helpful, but not required. We will provide training in play group management, dog handling techniques, and sanitation.  Having a valid driver's license is also helpful, but not required.

Compensation range is $15.59-$20.58 per hour, depending on performance.  We also provide an opportunity to earn performance-based bonuses and additional income opportunities.

To summarize, we are looking for individuals who find immense joy in interacting with animals and their human pet parents.  We are also looking for individuals who have an appreciation for new businesses, new ideas, and a strong desire to achieve great results in a supportive team environment.

Rather than a pet service based primarily on convenience, where the quality of staff may be inconsistent, we pride ourselves on each individual who makes up this team. We also strive to build community, both within Team S’wooft and among the greater Chicago area pet community. We do this through team outings, use of an ongoing chat app (Slack), community events, and our various marketing efforts.

Calling all animal lovers! Heaven Sent Pet Care, a professional dog walking company (serving Evanston, Wilmette, and Kenilworth) is currently looking for dynamic, caring, and trustworthy pet lovers to join our expanding team. If you love to spend time outdoors, are a self-starter, and are able to work independently and manage a changing schedule, this may be the job for you!

We are now hiring for a part-time DAILY DOG WALKER. The ideal candidate will have consistent availability between 10am-3pm Monday through Friday. We offer flexible ongoing part-time positions that work well as supplemental income -- this is a great position for freelancers!

How We Work:

Our "Daily Dog" walking services are typically performed Monday through Friday between between the hours of 10am-4pm. (Our busiest time frame is between 10am-2pm).

We are also hiring for "Fill-in" dog walkers, who work 2-4 days per week depending on their availability.

Our fees:

The rate walkers are paid ranges between $6.92-$8.50 per 25-minute visit (equivalent averages to around $13.84-$16 per hour).

Scheduling:

  • Days of the week -- We are looking for walkers who have some consistent availability Monday-Friday.

  • Hours -- We are most interested in candidates who are available during our busiest time frame of 10am-2pm. It is our preference that second jobs/classes do not conflict with this time frame.

  • # of visits -- We work with our walkers to find a time frame and number of visits that works for them and their schedule. Typically, we will start out walkers with a shorter route and build up the route as we are able and as the walker is comfortable. Most of our current walkers complete between 4-8 visits daily.

Administrative Support:

We provide a professional work environment. This is a supported position and we are office staffed from 8am-4pm Monday through Friday for any questions or help a walker might need. We also have emergency contacts for walkers, if an issue arises after business hours.

Consistent and Predictable work:

Unlike with dog-walking applications, from week to week you have the same group of dogs to work with and you can count on how much work you will have.

Is this a good fit for you?

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Are organized, dependable, trustworthy, timely, and professional.

  • Have great customer service and communication skills.

  • Are team players who can handle last-minute changes and requests from clients.

  • Are able to work independently and responsibly.

  • Enjoy being outside in all four seasons and the weather that comes with them! (Rain, snow, heat, cold, wind...)

  • Are interested in at least a six-month commitment with us. Our clients and their animals get attached to their walkers!

  • Love Animals! You don't have to have any animal work experience, but we find it is helpful if you have at least had pets of your own before.

Qualifications

  1. Background & References: You need to be at least 21 years old, able to pass a background/criminal check, and have at least 3 references.

  2. Physical Requirements: You need to have excellent dog-handling skills and intuition to walk and control dogs of all sizes and breeds. You also need to handle the activity level of walking dogs for 2-6 hours per day (you choose the amount).

If you can rightfully answer "yes" to each and every of the preceding questions, stop what you're doing and apply now. These are all "must have" qualities to keep our company at the forefront of the industry. Even though these are seemingly basic, they are at the heart of what we do. Be not mistaken, we are top tier and need you to be too. We won #1 Dog Walking company in SF and #1 Dog Walker in the Bay Area in three separate publications, multiple years. We want you to help us keep kicking ass.

MONEY:

  • Week 1: $16/hr - classroom style training

  • Week 2: $20/hr - Trainee

  • Dogtoral Candidate - $20.50/hr

  • Puppy Professor - $21

  • Dean Of Dogs - $22/hr

After the one year mark you're eligible for salary:

  • $32,500 - $36,000 plus 15 days paid vacation each year!

Additionally pet sitting can make you THOUSANDS in cash. This can double your income. Read details below for more info.

(If you want to skip the deets and apply already just skip to the last paragraph.)

Money Details:

You shadow for a week, taking in $16/hour. Essentially you do nothing but ride along, meet the dogs and coworkers, work with your trainer at cafes, and learn the basics. Not bad at all.

Week #2 is a bit different, so we up you to our training wage, $20/hour, the high end of industry standards for starting pay. You start picking up your own packs of dogs and meet up with me and other staff at our walking locations - typically Crissy Field and the forest at the Presidio. You start keeping track of your mileage and will be reimbursed gallon for gallon. You learn.

You're bumped up to $20.50 for 2nd leg of training, and after your training is complete, typically the first few months of employ, $21/hour and employee status, not independent contractor like some other jobs posted in the industry. You'll get your dog walker certification and permit through us ($800-$1000 you don't have to spend) and you're ready to go. The longer you stick with it, the more you involve yourself in our company mission, the more you demonstrate your willingness to work hard and grow professionally, the more you learn, the more you earn.

Many people make salary just after 1 year, and all positions will earn more as the company grows. There's training at every level, even at the top where we'll prepare you for leadership roles. It may seem like only a dog walking job, but things you learn here will undoubtedly serve you in subsequent jobs and careers.

On top of your daily shifts are near daily completely optional opportunities for private walks and pet sitting. Some choose to take on daily private walks, expanding on the general 6 hour day. Sometimes people just take one off private walks. Pet sitting is routine and people can double their income by pet sitting, and it's the easiest money you've ever made.

Shift Details:

Typical shifts last five to six hours Monday-Friday, you start in the late morning and are home by early evening. If you want to have a second evening job this is perfect to take up all your afternoons. For us, there is no such thing as working nights, weekends, or holidays. However, good extra income is available to you through boarding, solo walks, and eventually private lessons on your own personal schedule as needed by our clientele. Most employees here eventually take on an ongoing private walk either before or after work to expand pay. If you can sit dogs you can make THOUSANDS in cash. I made over $8,000 pet sitting in June and July alone!!!!!

Who We Are:

We are all roughly 20-35 years old. We get along great, going out for drinks after work sometimes, getting together for team outings, or just hanging out in the field every day with the dogs. I believe who you work with is one of the most important things in your life. You spend so much time at work you better love it.

Job Description

Do you meet the requirements listed below in bold?

Cubicle walls seemingly growing taller and taller? Recycled air choking you at your desk? The man got you down?

Fresh out of college and have no idea what to do with your degree? Studying for a grad degree and need to pay the bills?

Grow up with a family dog but can't have one here in The City? Have a dog but don't have the time to give it the attention and exercise it needs? Simply love our fluffy, shaggy, large and small four legged barking friends?

Then we sure do have an offer for you: walk dogs. Seriously, it'll change your life. Your mind will be opened and your soul unleashed. It's the best job you'll ever have. Keep reading!

We are always looking to meet quality candidates who could effectively lead off leash groups of dogs through parks and beaches with us. Teacher, dog trainer, coach, boot camp instructor, friend, confidant...we wear a lot of hats with these dogs, and sometimes they eat them! What we're looking for are people who'd fit our team well, who love dogs, who like being outdoors, who are responsible and caring, amiable and professional at work. If that's you, you're in.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Own your own SUV/van/wagon/truck? (Sorry no exceptions, unless you buy one. I wish we had company vehicles, but at least we pay a lot better than the companies that do!)

  • Live in SF, Daly City, Pacifica? (Sorry no BRIDGE commuters)

  • No previous experience required! Training and permits provided.

  • Do you LOVE dogs?

  • Athletic, energetic and looking to stay fit?

  • Have a smart phone and know how to use it?

  • Able to commit to a year or more?

  • Friendly, outgoing, and customer savvy?

  • Have extreme extreme patience?

  • Eager to learn? To teach?

  • Ready to become a professional at this job?

  • Are you a team player?

If you can rightfully answer "yes" to each and every of the preceding questions, stop what you're doing and apply now. These are all "must have" qualities to keep our company at the forefront of the industry. Even though these are seemingly basic, they are at the heart of what we do. Be not mistaken, we are top tier and need you to be too. We won #1 Dog Walking company in SF and #1 Dog Walker in the Bay Area in three separate publications, multiple years. We want you to help us keep kicking ass.

MONEY:

You can make a lot more doing this than you think. The wages during business hours are only half the story.

  • Week 1: min wage - classroom style training

  • Week 2: $20/hr - Trainee

  • Dogtoral Candidate - $20.50/hr

  • Puppy Professor - $21

  • Dean Of Dogs - $22/hr

After the one year mark you're eligible for salary!

Gas is reimbursed. We offer tons of cash bonuses for things like signing up a new client or getting featured in a positive review.

Additionally pet sitting can make you THOUSANDS in cash. This can double your income. Read details below for more info.

STEADY RAISES:

(If you want to skip the deets and apply already just skip to the last paragraph.)

You shadow for a week, taking in minimum wage for one week only.

Sometimes people just take one-off private walks. Pet sitting is routine and people can double their income by pet sitting, and it's the easiest money you've ever made.

THE HOURS:

Typical shifts last 6-8 hours Monday-Friday. I legit made $8,000 in pet sitting in June and July alone!!!!

THE TEAM:

We are all about 20-35. We get along great, going out for drinks after work sometimes, getting together for team outings, or just hanging out in the field every day with the dogs. I believe who you work with is one of the most important things in your life. You spend so much time at work you better love it.

http://www.citizenhoundsf.com/the-team-1

HOW TO APPLY:

SIMPLY DESCRIBE YOUR INTEREST IN A BRIEF, CONVINCING EMAIL THAT GRABS OUR ATTENTION AND SPEAKS TO WHY YOU WOULD WANT THE POSITION AND BE THE PERFECT FIT FOR IT! This email is very important to our selection process, and nobody gets through without one. Most importantly include your telephone # so I can call! Even better, drop me a text or shoot me a call once you've sent your email to ensure I get back to you posthaste. Please make sure you meet our bullet-pointed requirements, like having a vehicle and living in SF (or Daly City). We look forward to hearing from you.
