Smitten Ice Cream is searching for a Facilities Technician focused on preventative and maintenance repairs for our store fleet, equipment, and central kitchen. This position works 80% in the field, 20% managing relationships with contractors and vendors and overseeing the budget. 

Responsibilities


  • Partner with Operations team to assess needs for shop maintenance and repairs and perform both preventative and regular maintenance on all assigned areas, placing special focus on minimizing system downtime

  • Preventative and repair tasks, including HVAC systems, store/kitchen equipment, refrigeration, plumbing, and physical locations

  • Own the communication/coordination between General Managers and contractors on ETAs, parts & repairs, proposals and repair completion follow-up 

  • Educate staff on how to properly maintain equipment in good working order

  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of our shops so that equipment, janitorial, fire safety, and general maintenance are implemented in a manner consistent with policies and procedures

  • Routinely visit our locations to ensure job completion, a clean environment, and cost-effective operation 

  • Operate and maintain delivery vehicles

  • Develop predictive and preventative maintenance plans and implement them to ensure decrease in repairs and breakdowns

  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary

  • Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance

  • Manage relationships with Landlords, property owners, contractors and service providers

  • Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities

Requirements


  • 2+ years experience in facility operations and maintenance/repair

  • Broad Knowledge of maintenance strategies and tactics

  • General mechanical knowledge for building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and an understanding of common maintenance issues and their fixes

  • Weekend availability will be required

  • Authorized to work in the United States

Job responsibilities include:

· manufacturing ice cream

· monitoring inventory

· maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen/facility

Duties include:

· washing and sterilizing equipment/containers

· lifting and pouring ingredients (as much as 50 pounds)

· accurately measuring ingredients

· emulsifying (mixing) buckets of ice cream milk with a large wand mixer

· learning to operate an ice cream batch freezer (not complicated)

· filling containers with the frozen product

· walking frozen containers into freezer

· Keeping inventory of stock

· printing labels

· packaging pints in cases for delivery

· basic clean-up and organizing.

Qualifications

· Work in food manufacturing is a plus but not necessary   · (experience in manufacturing including warehouse or assembly will be considered a transferrable skill)  

· Ability to read and follow recipes

· Basic computer skills to be able to print labels, recipes, etc. Working knowledge of Excel program to monitor inventory a plus.

We are looking for full and part time Kitchen Production Assistants for our Berkeley location. You will be working with others to complete daily/weekly tasks. Production is large scale with attention to detail. Days will involve heavy lifting, executing recipes and operating machines (large mixers, ice cream spinners, blenders). What you will do:


The Ice Cream Scooper provides fast, friendly service to guests in the Tillamook Cheese Factory Visitors Center Ice Cream Counter. You will work alongside our experienced team members to provide excellent guest service to the one million guests that visit us annually. 


Here’s a day in the life:



  • Take ice cream orders, scoop and serve ice cream to guests

  • Prepare waffle batter and waffle cones

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the ice cream area at all times

  • Opening and closing duties as assigned

  • Be familiar with all ice cream flavors and ingredients to answer customer questions
