Company Overview: Windy City Dog Walkers is Chicago's most trusted dog walking company. We have been serving Chicago since 2002 and were voted "Best of Chicago" in 2014. We are a "dog walker focused company" with excellent reviews on Glassdoor! We are an A+ company because we only work with A+ walkers.  We focus on smaller neighborhood routes, walking on leash with one household's pets at a time, providing the same dog walker every day and helping clients with training reinforcement. Our client's dogs thrive with consistency and we find this system provides our walkers with reliable income that is more predictable when compared to other dog walking services. Many of our walkers walk with us for over two years and we promote from within. If you love working with dogs but would like to work without the on-demand nature of dog walker apps - this is the opportunity you have been looking for!

Job Summary: This is a physical job designed for true dog lovers. You will be walking independently with our client's dogs on leash. The route is normally within one neighborhood but you will need to travel to multiple households during the day. Most dog walkers typically walk 5+ miles each day. We place great emphasis on safety, customer service and self-reliance. Most walkers work 20-25 hours a week but a walker can work 30 hours or more if they are ready for the opportunity.

Route Details: We are currently hiring dog walkers for opportunities in many of Chicago's neighborhoods. The typical dog walker walks 8-10 dogs a day and works 4-6 hours per day. The route is normally within one neighborhood but you will need to travel to multiple households during the day.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform safe neighborhood walks on leash with one household's pet(s) at a time

  • Practice time management to stay on schedule

  • Communicate with the office and clients via voice/text and email

  • Provide excellent customer service

  • Give all dogs attention, exercise and care

  • Travel to our office in River West to pick up client keys on Monday and drop off client keys on Friday

- You must be available Monday - Friday from approximately 10am to 4pm for six months or more

  • You must have a smart phone with a data plan

  • You must be at least 18 years of age

- We prefer that you own a reliable source of transportation such as a bicycle (preferred) or an insured car (Applicants who prefer to walk the route are encouraged to apply but only some routes are walkable)

  • Be prepared for all weather conditions as this is a year round position - you will be working outdoors

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Willing to submit to a background check if a position is offered

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge of dogs breeds and behavior can be helpful

  • The ability to make quick decisions to keep dogs safe

  • Capable of walking more than one dog at a time

  • Comfortable walking dogs with special medical or behavior concerns

  • Time management is a critical skill to ensure on time arrivals for all dog walks

  • Strong communication skills via voice, text and email

Benefits and Perks:

  • Highly competitive industry pay including tips

  • Dedicated neighborhood routes with no competition with other dog walkers for walks/assignments

  • Paid meetings with potential clients and their dogs before signing up for service

  • Bonuses paid for any walks performed with multiple dogs in a home or any optional non-peak hour walks (evenings, weekends, house sits, etc.)

  • Paid orientation process

  • Free Cubs Tickets and fun team building events

  • Casual dress code (dress for the weather without the need to wear a uniform)

  • Work within a fun environment that encourages learning with positive/animal loving co-workers

  • Promotional opportunities with a highly rated/established company
