OVERVIEW:

Provide high-quality instruction within a small school environment where every student is known and valued as an individual; uphold the mission and values of American Indian Model Schools (AIMS) and contribute to our goal that every student in California has access to a high-quality public education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Establish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief that every student will attend college.

  • Develop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities aligned with Common Core Standards and AIMS Instructional Guidelines.

  • Assess students regularly and analyze student results; refine and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needs.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices throughout the school; share best practices.

  • Communicate regularly with students and their families about classroom activities and student progress.

  • Involve parents and guardians as partners in their students’ education. -Manage student behavior to ensure every student is fully engaged.

  • Actively participate in professional development activities, and work closely with Head of School and Dean.

  • Maintain accurate student records including attendance.

  • Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs.

  • Support the mission, vision, and core values of AIM Schools.

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned from Head of School and Deans.

  • Flexibility of schedule to accommodate monthly Saturday School, Summer School, as well as additional after school tutoring

  • At the least, a 1 year commitment. A 3 year commitment is preferred and is eligible for a bonus at the end of the term.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities:


  • Knowledge and application of child cognitive development and various learning styles

  • Knowledge of various subject matter, including Common Core Standards and subject-specific frameworks

  • Familiarity of post-secondary requirements, ACT, SAT, and AP courses

  • Understanding and ability to create assessments according to standards every 6-8 weeks Ability and willingness to implement AIMS Instructional Guidelines and Best Practices -Aptitude to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data to inform next phase of teaching -Capacity and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices to better serve students -Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents and community

  • Computer and Internet search skills 2) Minimum educational level:

  • Bachelors’ degree in subject being taught with a minimum 3.5 GPA

  • Valid California Teaching Credential

  • English Language Learner Authorization required -NCLB Highly Qualified 3) Experience required:

  • 1+ year working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant preferred

ABOUT US

The mission of Tiny Techs Club is to encourage creativity in science and technology in children at the elementary and middle school levels using our unique curriculum in Robotics. We use LEGO’s, software, and fun themes to teach children fundamentals in mechanics, building, programming and problem solving.

We are based in the Bay Area, California and have expanded our team to Denver and Portland!


  • Hours are dependent on employee availability, but currently average a fluctuating 15 hours a week with flexibility to your needs.

  • Paid training is provided on a continuous basis.

  • Classes are 2 hours long and generally begin between 1:30 and 3:30 depending on the school.

  • Additional work duties, outside of the classroom, can be done remotely (from home) and include maintaining teaching equipment and preparing for classes. All work hours are tracked and logged by employees.

ABOUT YOU

You enjoy playing with LEGOs and teaching children in a professional, but fun manner. You are a responsible, energetic, and motivated self-starter with an aptitude for enriching and guiding children through problem solving and advanced concepts. You prefer a flexible schedule that works with you.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Teach an average of 2 to 5 classes weekly, usually 2 hours long, as per Tiny Techs Club’s curriculum.

  • Maintaining and transporting class equipment and materials including computers and Legos.

  • Attending training meetings in our San Ramon office.

  • Learn our curriculum and possess knowledge of the concepts we teach.

  • Remotely prepare for classes.

REQUIREMENTS


  • Valid State Issued ID

  • Must be comfortable using Uber/Lift in the absence of personal transportation, with the possibility of reimbursement.

  • Have a smart phone and be tech savvy – (Google Calendar, email, text, navigation, troubleshooting, and basic knowledge of Windows-based computers.)

  • Follow established curriculum to provide small group training in Russian to help older adults learn and practice basic computer skills and using the Internet. 

  • Provide 1-on-1 assistance in Russian for older adult students to practice and improve use of technology and the Internet 

  • Complete post-training assessment to confirm basic computer skill was achieved.   

Community Support · Assist Program Manager in the orientation of new volunteers. 


  • Act as CTN Representative and liaison within the Russian-speaking populations of  El Bethel Terrace Apartments and Curry Senior Center.   

Service Delivery Coordination · Support evaluation efforts related to programs  


  • Attend planning meetings to assist with coordination of service delivery   

Data Management & Reporting 


  • Ensure that all setup/breakdown and instruction hours are reported for each shift 

  • Collect and report additional data about programs, services, and volunteers, as needed by CTN   

Public Relations 


  • Represent CTN at community-based events 

  • Use social media to share positive information about CTN programs       

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

We, at CodeLinkd, strongly believe that coding can be used for more than just creating applications. We are extremely passionate about bringing computer science to kids from a very early age, tapping into their endless creativity and helping them create beautiful and responsible code. With exposure to smartphones from their toddler years, kids have a natural interest in computers. To have the ability to harvest that interest and transform it into learning is a huge opportunity.

Learning to code should be compared to learning a new language or a musical instrument. It helps increase perseverance, improves memory, teaches patience, and nurtures creativity. It helps enhance their capacity to reason, solve problems thoughtfully and make effective decisions from a very early age. Coding helps sharpen the analytical and cognitive skills of kids. We strongly believe that we can help discover that hidden potential within kids and teach them how to approach real-world scenarios - all by teaching them how to code.

Coding is a basic life skill. We want these kids to explore careers in different fields where their hearts lie, be it medicine, automotive manufacturing, finance or arts and design - and be well-equipped to do so.

At CodeLinkd, we offer a variety of courses for kids of ages five and up. Our courses have a mix of coding, robotics, circuits, unplugged exercises, and other STEAM concepts.

About the Role: CodeLinkd Instructor

We are looking for a committed part-time instructor to complement our workforce of educators in the discipline of computer science & robotics. Specifically, these instructors will teach coding and robotics courses for kids from ages five to eleven in several community and cultural centers across the South Bay.

We also welcome applications from high school students that are looking for volunteering opportunities in computer science and robotics while assisting our lead instructors in these courses.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate:


  • Should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Should be passionate towards teaching kids with an ability to connect easily with kids and create a relationship of mutual trust. Prior teaching experience or at least experience interacting with kids is a huge plus!

  • Should be able to converse fluently in English

  • Should be familiar with computers well enough to be able to troubleshoot problems during class

  • Possess an understanding of basic coding concepts. A degree in computer science is not mandatory. Every CodeLinkd instructor will undergo training in order for them to get familiar with the course curriculum and concepts that will be taught in different courses.

  • Should be available during CodeLinkd class hours. CodeLinkd classes currently happen during after-school hours on weekdays and for a few hours on weekends.

  • Should be able to commute via their own mode of transport to different locations across the South Bay (such as Saratoga, Los Gatos, and San Jose)

  • Should be willing to undergo a test for tuberculosis and live scan. Most community and cultural centers require instructors to undergo both tests. CodeLinkd will reimburse any costs involved.

  • Should have strong moral values and discipline

  • Should possess valid work authorization - U.S. Citizen, Permanent Residence / Green Card, or H4-EAD. CodeLinkd does not currently offer sponsorship of visas.

The after-school program, known as The Neighborhood, is open to Presidio Hill School students (TK-8th grade) from dismissal (between 2:45 and 3:30pm - staggered dismissal time) until 6pm. We seek to create a safe and fun space where the students can spend their afternoons engaged in free play, social growth, academic time, and enrichment opportunities (such as cooking, arts & crafts, group games, etc). We’re seeking someone to join a team of 4, a director and three teachers, who make up the after-school staff. General work hours would be approximately 2:30-6pm primarily with grades 3-8. In addition, there are some mandatory all day camp and evening childcare responsibilities in which you will be scheduled for longer shifts (generally 10-6pm). 

Primary Responsibilities  

~Supervise students in grades TK-8 in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment.

~Develop positive relationships with the students and serve as a role model.

~Demonstrate a commitment to multicultural education and guidelines.

During the Neighborhood Program:  

~Assist grades 3-8 with homework during daily academic time. 

~Plan fun games, activities and projects that encompass the arts, science, cooking and recreation.  

~Help prepare and cleanup snack and activities.  

~Report to the After-School Enrichment Program (AEP) Director. The AEP Director may assign additional duties.   

During Camp Weeks/ All Day Childcare Days 

~Plan and lead fun games, activities and projects that encompass the arts, science, cooking, and recreation for grades TK-5. 

~Supervise students on daily field trips to local parks and museums.  

~Ensure all students are safe, being included and having fun!

Under the supervision of the Program Director, and in collaboration with another Early Childhood Clinical Supervisor, this position has the primary responsibility for providing supervision of both licensed and unlicensed mental health clinicians . The clinicians will primarily be working in the Early Childhood and Prevention program (0-5). Mental health services include: trauma-informed care, developmentally appropriate/sensitive assessments; development of a family centered treatment plan; providing developmentally appropriate mental health treatment; coordination of care with child welfare workers, parents, foster parents, medical home, and other collaterals; maintaining a written record of treatment, including initial assessments and treatment plans. Supervision responsibilities include: direct oversight of mental health clinicians’ work; reviewing clinicians’ notes, assessments and treatment plans to ensure compliance with MediCal requirements; providing guidance and assistance with the treatment of clients; weekly individual and group supervision.

Classroom Culture


  • Implement effective classroom management

  • Set and reinforce clear expectations and routines that are aligned with the school's overall vision

Planning and Data Analysis


  • Set measurable, ambitious yet attainable goals for the year and for each interim assessment cycle

  • Use data from interim assessments, quizzes and informal assessments to inform and guide instruction

  • Experience working with youth

Amazing Science is looking for 2-3 enthusiastic people to teach or aide k-6 after-school science classes, at locations in Marin County, from September to December, and from January to June, of each year. 

WE SUPPLY all needed materials and lesson plans! 

Various schedules and locations are available. The classes are at elementary schools around central Marin. Each session is 7-12 weeks. There are separate class levels for grades K, 1-2, and 3+. 

Teachers typically teach one to two 1-hour after-school classes per day, on days of their choice. 

The main skills needed are: to appear reliably; to be able to safely manage classes of 5-15 children, ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade; to be enthusiastic about learning and teaching; and to be able to understand and teach a wide range of science topics at k-6 levels based on pre-written lesson plans (a formal science background is *not* required). 

Our teacher positions would be a great position for: 

• anyone with relevant experience who would like to spice up their lives or add income, 

• A college student, or part-time worker

• an active parent looking for a little extra income or to spice up their days, 

• a retired teacher, or a substitute teacher, or

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:


  • Participates in special programs and/or events as requested by management such as Open Houses.

  • May be required to participate in the organization and maintenance of program equipment and facility.

  • Maintains open communication and a positive relationship with other staff, parents, teachers and other school personnel.

  • Completes accident or incident reports when appropriate, according to company procedures.

  • Appropriately communicate concerns or issues with immediate supervisor as they arise.

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:


  • Completion of twelve (12) units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) courses (core classes) preferred but not required

  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior

  • Ability to interact and communicate with others effectively (written and verbal)

  • Ability to interact positively with the general public

  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth with a knowledge of age appropriate enrichment activities

  • Pre-employment Tuberculosis and Live Scan screenings required

  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications. Ability to perform CPR and first aid techniques.

We are currently seeking teachers for our Berkeley and Oakland sites, including our Kids Club at Joaquin Miller School in Oakland. We are also looking for substitutes for all the above locations.

Position Summary

The Afterschool Teacher participates in all functions of the Afterschool programs. Teachers prepare & direct weekly enrichment classes based on personal passions & skills. JCC East Bay welcomes qualified participants of all backgrounds and identities.

Example of Duties


  • Supervise children, including strong attention to health, safety & planning, preparation & implementation of developmentally appropriate programs for children-grades K-5. 

  • Effectively & professionally communicate with parents.

  • Participate with team in weekly staff meetings & scheduled programs.

  • Assist with daily pick-ups from schools.

  • Support maintaining all afterschool spaces in an organized, clean & operational manner.

Qualifications


  • Experience working with children grades K-5; plan & deliver age appropriate activities.

  • Be at least 18 years old & a High School graduate. Completion of college courses preferred.

  • Committed to development, creation & modeling positive children's learning environments.

  • Able to work well with others as an effective team member.

  • California Driver's License Class C required; Class B license especially welcome.

We are looking for people interested in a Monday through Thursday, 1-6 pm position. We would like to find people who have a four-year degree or are working towards one. Most of the children we will be working with during this time are ages 6-14. Please be comfortable working with children for both Math and English. A STEM education is a bonus...!

Pay is depending on experience.

Those are the basics. What we really want are people who have a passion for showing children how to study. At GradePower, we want to help students learn how to learn and how to be independent.
