We are looking for someone who takes great joy in making things beautiful and loves working with plants. You will work with a small team that takes all of the merchandise that arrives at our door and turns it into the wonderland that is Flora Grubb Gardens. You will move a lot of heavy merchandise around all day, both indoors and outside. You will interact with our customers, make sure they feel welcome, and connect them to a more experienced salesperson when necessary.

Part of the magic of Flora Grubb Gardens is in the beauty of how everything is displayed. Your job will be to make that magic happen, over and over again. Because the media we work with are garden plants, pottery, and furniture, you’ll need to be strong, fit, and enthusiastic about working on your feet much of the time.

It would be great if you have experience building displays in any retail environment. You’ll need to have had some plant and garden experience and a passion for gaining more. We’re looking for someone who wants to learn!

Many people have excelled in this job who have a background in design or art. It would be a huge plus if you have a passion of horticulture and a strong interest in garden design. You’ll be in a great position to learn from the skilled horticulturalists and garden designers who work here.

WHAT IS A MARKET ASSISTANT?


We are searching for talented people who are energetic, organized, detail oriented, computer savvy, reliable, have great interpersonal skills, and bring a positive attitude daily to fill the role of a Market Assistant. You must be an experienced merchandiser as you will be assisting the District Supervisor with store coverage, training, audits, surveys, and project rollouts. ReSet Staffing is looking for multiple individuals in the area to assist with merchandising resets at a major home improvement store in El Cerrito. These are are ongoing projects ranging from 1 week to 4 weeks, with additional projects starting after one ends. On average you will get ~8 hours a night/40 hours a week, with potential for overtime.


Locations: El Cerrito, CA.


Shift Hours: 9pm-5:30am - Start Mon - 3/23
Pay rate: $16/hour (not a cash paying job) - paid weekly

Scope of work: depending on project: moving shelving/products, merchandising including end-caps, aisle sign refresh, rotating and placing of products on shelves, clean-up

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
* Reset/merchandising experience is preferred
* Experience in fixture installation and/or warehouse experience is a plus
* Construction experience is a plus

MINIMUM PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Position Summary:


Merchandisers will be responsible for traveling to a range of stores. You will be working individually or in a team environment. You as a merchandiser will be responsible for servicing stores, re-merchandising products/entire sections, and performing other miscellaneous merchandising activities. What will I be doing?


As a Merchandiser, you will help ensure customer satisfaction by:


- Communicating with Your Manager daily via phone, email, and text on issues that pertain to their specific position and assignments.


- Be responsible for resetting entire sections daily in Grocery, General Merchandise, HBC, Deli, Fresh & Frozen Foods and Racking systems; totaling numerous feet.


- Interpret, understand, execute, and match store schematic (plan-o-gram) to physical sections in stores.


- Communicate daily with store personnel and management to discuss work requirements, schedule, and work completed.


- Clean and remove/replace shelving


- Place all price tags neatly and accurately generate any missing price tags


- Distinguish between, organize, separate, and box up diverse types of product


- Walk all the categories that were worked with store management and obtain management's approval on daily sign-off sheet.


- Complete surveys on topics: POS, schematic integrity, equipment needs, new item distribution, mapping, etc.


- Capture and log daily/weekly workload data and corresponding photos at store level, utilizing company technology and software.


- Responsible for navigating company websites and software to perform daily data syncs.


- Responsible for reporting shift status and hours each day.


- Performs other duties as required and assigned.


 


Education and/or Experience and Requirements:


- Previous grocery, retail, management, or merchandising experience preferred (will train the right person)


- Planogram experience preferred but will train the right person


- High School Diploma


- Must be able to use a computer, smartphone and other technology.


- Good physical dexterity (ability to kneel, stand, reach, crawl, lift, twist, bend, etc. for at least 8 hours daily)

·        Analyze the sales figures/trends to anticipate future product needs.


·        Revise the contracts for the suppliers including quality control, accuracy and flexibility.


·        Once the products are all distributed and put on sale, you will be responsible to monitor stock movement, consider breakdowns, inter-branch transfers, promotions or clear outs etc.

Purpose Statement

Promotes and ensures the efficient and effective merchandising and inventory management operations of the store. Ensures all merchandise is accurately received, priced, stocked and backroom is maintained per Petco operational standards. Through the lens of our Petco Co-Values, ensures the health, welfare and proper care of all live animals. Helps ensure the store achieves the Petco established goals and metrics.

Key Accountabilities

The incumbent must be able to consistently perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.


  • Ensures the health, proper handling and welfare of all animals according to policies and procedures, including completion of hourly animal check list and wellness cards.


  • Adheres to Veterinary Protocol for all sick animals.


  • Ensures 100% pricing accuracy, including verifying all pricing labels are posted and are accurate with regard to correct price and current offer date.


  • Facilitates the unloading and stocking of merchandise according to operational guidelines and OSE standards.


  • Ensures that the store is well-stocked and inventory counts are accurate.


  • In partnership with Store Leader, ensures staffing levels are appropriate for receiving and processing stock.


  • Ensures that the backroom and equipment is organized and maintained according to Operating Standards of Excellence.

Leadership


  1. Directly supervises the Merchandise Operations Specialists.


  2. Leads, provides feedback and coaches all store partners in providing quality service to satisfy the needs of Petco guests and in performing their assigned tasks


  3. Provides training and coaching in GUEST+ Model and product knowledge to store partners


  4. In partnership with the Store Leader and/or Guest Experience Leader, ensures proper store scheduling is maintained to ensure guest service during peak hours


  5. Collaborates with store Partners to ensure an exceptional guest experience for all Omni-channel initiatives, to include but not limited to Instacart, Extended Aisle, and Repeat Delivery


  6. Applies a talent management skill set within the scope of recruiting, hiring, training, work scheduling, coaching and succession planning.


  7. In partnership with store leaders, recruits, hires and develops a team focus on building long-term guest relationships.


Leader On Duty Key Accountabilities


  • Conducts and oversees hourly animal health checks to ensure the health and safety of all animals in the store.


  • Ensures veterinary care/consultation is provided to all ill or injured animals in a timely manner (within 24 hours of being identified as ill or injured unless it is an emergency which requires immediate care).


  • Verifies animal related maintenance tasks are being completed as outlined on the Maintenance Task List.


  • Demonstrates and provides feedback and coaching on nutrition, Pals Rewards membership sign-up, Welcome to the Family and effective suggestive selling techniques for partners to increase sales. This bullet be listed as a Key Accountability.

Work Environment

The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although merchandise receiving, merchandise carry-outs, or stock balancing will require leaving the store briefly. This position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise and standing for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and pull 2000 lbs utilizing material handling equipment. Improper use of safety equipment and/or not following proper lifting techniques may pose of risk of injury to customers, pets, and store personnel. Follow all safety precautions and procedures.

Education and Experience

Minimum high school diploma (its equivalency i.e. GED) or the equivalent work experience. 5 years experience in a retail setting as an inventory leader, department leader, team lead or sales partner is preferred.
