Pay Range

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Conducts training program for new drivers and in-service training of currently employed drivers.

  • Maintains files on driver’s licenses, school bus certificates, physical examination, first aid training certification, in-service training hours and informs drivers of due dates and assists in preparing them for tests.

  • Prepares reports as needed.

  • Participates in the recruitment of drivers.

  • Participation in safety programs related to transportation.

  • Performs driver on-the-road evaluations and prescribes remedial or additional behind-the-wheel or classroom training for drivers.

Education & Experience


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • Five years of school bus driving experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Safe driving practices, emergency procedures and basic requirements for the safe operation of a school bus.

  • The rules and regulations pertaining to school bus operation as set forth in the California Vehicle Code, Education Code, and the Passenger Transportation Safety Handbook (HPH 82.7).

  • The current methods of training and evaluation of school bus drivers.

  • Conducts driver training programs and to assist with driver evaluations.

  • Perform clerical functions necessary to accomplish the above tasks.

  • Understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contracted in the course of work.

  • Drive a bus or other automotive equipment safely and efficiently, maintain discipline over students, follow oral or written directions, keep trip records and make reports.

  • Work with a team of Catering Captains to beautifully present meals that wow our clients.

  • Provide client feedback using our proprietary app.

  • Maintain professionalism while interacting with clients and restaurant partners.

  • Complete maintenance and operational tasks as assigned by the Hub Manager.

Requirements


  • Be 18 years old or older.

  • Be willing to obtain a food handler card.

  • Be available for at least two lunch shifts from Monday to Friday.

  • Have an iPhone or Android phone.

The Catering Delivery Driver will use the Food Shift van to transport prepared food from The Food Shift Kitchen in Alameda to various catering events around the Bay. This role is crucial to our operations and capacity to reduce food waste, feed communities, and make the jobs created in our kitchen count. Title: Catering Delivery Driver

Employment status: Temporary/Part-time

Payment: $17/hour

Schedule: Lunch drop off on Tuesdays to San Francisco (11am-1pm)

  • Pick up, deliver, and set up catering services for local clients. 

  • Deliver food while upholding food handling safety standards. 

  • Assist with necessary unload at the kitchen in addition to other kitchen tasks as needed.

  • Complete and submit a of hours worked. Paycom will be set up with onboarding. 

  • The candidate will keep an updated in the van, logging the start and end mileage for every trip.

  • The candidate will track time of arrival and departure and each pickup and drop off site to find inefficiencies and keep the schedule efficient.

  • Keep any receipts for expenses and submit to for supervisor approval and reimbursement.


    • There is a fastrak in the van, so the driver will not need to pay for tolls.



  • Keep the van clean and tidy (i.e. cleaning up any spills).

  The Rossmoor News in Walnut Creek has immediate openings for news carriers to deliver between 400 and 600 newspapers to multi-unit residences inside Rossmoor, on two streets every Wednesday. Preparation and delivery can take between 5 to 8 hours depending on weather limitations.   Papers and inserts are ready for delivery by 6:00 AM; carriers will stuff newspapers with inserts, roll newspapers, and deliver them. All deliveries must be complete by 5:00 PM. Rubber bands and delivery bags are provided.

                              Food Acquisition Specialist/Driver

                                           NO CALLS PLEASE.       

 

The Food Acquisition Specialist/Driver is responsible for managing in-kind donations, including all aspects of a donation (scheduling, pick-up, receipting and stewardship). This person also provides support for the Warehouse Manager and Coordinators of the Pantry's distribution programs as needed.    

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:  


  1. Assist in the gathering of resources (both food and other in-kind items) needed to operate the programs at the highest operational level.

  2. Operate a commercial van to pick up and deliver to Lakeview Pantry locations in an efficient, timely and safe manner. Operate vehicle according to all local, state and federal regulations.

  3. Maintain, load and unload in-kind donations in cargo van, up to 50 pounds regularly, using manual carts and dollies.

  4. Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records of all pickup and delivery transactions, and enter transactions into our database of in-kind donors.

  5. Evaluate the suitability of donated products for distribution at Lakeview Pantry, through established guidelines of safe food handling.

  6. Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles: ensure that all pre-trip and post-trip vehicle maintenance and safety checklists are completed daily; report any issues to Manager immediately.

  7. Manage a calendar of regular food drives and events.

  8. Coordinate the pickup of in-kind food donations including the interaction and coordination with volunteer drivers.

  9. Manage a group of key donors, including all aspects of the relationship (receiver, pick-up times, food quality/quantity) and volunteer drivers who pick-up donated product.

  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

TOP CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:  


  1. HS Diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree or equivalent college courses preferred.

  2. 1-2 years of experience in retail, warehouse, logistics, delivery, food service, or social service environment, preferably with experience in soliciting donations.

  3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  4. Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a van.

  5. Strong interpersonal and verbal communications skills.

  6. Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

  7. An understanding of, and belief in, the importance of food security for everyone.

  8. Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evening and weekend hours.

  9. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

  Job Description:  


  • Safety awareness will be priority      # 1, adheres to follow all GMPs and guidelines 

  • Transfers supplies and equipment      between storage and work areas by hand or cart

  • Receives and maintains inventories

  • Verify that everything that      appears on the transportation record has been loaded into the truck for      delivery such as therapeutics, vegetarians, snacks, sack lunch, cold      lunch, hot lunch, milk, fruit, juice or any products that is described in      the transportation record

  • Make sure all loads are tied and      secured properly so it doesn’t move or fall during transportation

  • Fill in the transportation records      with name, temperature and signatures before and after starting the route

  • Arrive at the schools prior to the      time indicated on the transportation record

  • Call the office to confirm you      have arrived to the school

  • Instruct clients to contact      customer service with any concerns

  • All left over food must be given      to client or returned to the company

  • Inform supervisor verbally and by      written report of any problems or issues encountered during deliveries and      throughout the day

  • All company property must be      properly used and taken care of

  • A verbal and written report must      be given to a supervisor if there is a damage caused to the truck,      dollies, phone/accessories or any other company equipment

  • Unload and clean the equipment      (cambros, coolers, green bins, etc.) and place them in the assigned      locations

  • Fill up the gas tank on your back      from your lunch deliveries, before returning to work location

  • Must follow all GMP requirements while      retrieving or returning materials within the production areas

  • Ability to wear applicable Proper      Protective Equipment (PPE) during scheduled work shift 

Qualifications:  


  • Valid driver license

  • Clean driving record for at least      3 years

  • No automobile accidents for at      least 4 years

  • Ability to collaborate and work in      a team environment

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Must pass Department of Justice      background check and provide a clear TB test (taken within 4yrs)

  • Ability to get finger-print live      scan

Physical Demands:  


  • The ability to lift/push objects      weighing over 50lbs.

  • The ability to have repetitive use      of hands for grasping, folding, pushing, pouring, kneading, and fine manipulation
