Admiral Maltings seeks part-time, entry level production worker needed to assist in all phases of malt production: steeping, germinating and kilning of grain. 

Admiral Maltings, located in Alameda, is California's first small-batch malting facility to open in decades. Malt is the primary ingredient in beer. Admiral sources local, sustainably grown grains to produce malt using the traditional practice of floor malting for craft brewers and distillers.

Job duties require strenuous physical activity including: plowing, turning and shoveling of green malt, bagging finished malt, stacking malt on pallets, cleaning equipment, and facility maintenance.

Must have experience with manual labor.

Brewery experience, ability to drive a forklift and/or mechanical backgrounds are helpful.

Starting wage is between $15.00- $18.00/hr. depending on experience.

We are hiring a team member to join our Production team.  This will involve full days of installing mosses onto different mediums and other custom installations while standing, as well as regularly participating in project installations.  You will be instructed on design parameters and be asked to follow precise instructions.  An artistic eye, attention to detail and ability to follow direction are essential. 

Responsibilities


  • Applying preserved plants following design plans

  • Using an artistic eye to best achieve the desired design aesthetic

  • Setting up and taking down moss walls for events

  • Preparing projects and materials for installations, including packing up projects and company vehicles and gathering the appropriate tools

  • Going to installations to help hang small pieces and to seam together large pieces

  • Sanding, patching and painting frames, lettering and substrates

  • Wrapping and planting live plants

  • Maintaining the organization and cleanliness of entire studio and company vehicles

  • Being mindful of your tools and staying safe while on the job

Requirements


  • Must be comfortable working with hot glue guns and basic hand tools

  • Must be able to stand up for the entire day and lift up to 40 pounds

  • Must be able to use Google Suite, including Docs, Calendar and Gmail

  • Must have an eye for detail and design

  • Must be patient with a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to follow direction

Time & Compensation


  • Typical hours are 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday-Friday. Installations occasionally require adjusted hours, such as early mornings, evenings and weekends.

  • Compensation: starting at $16.50/hr

  • Fifteen paid days off per year. Accrual begins after 90 days

  • Nine paid holidays per year

  • Health insurance provided on the first of the month following 60 days in role. Planted Design covers 75% of medical insurance premium, and 50% of vision and dental premiums for team members

· emulsifying (mixing) buckets of ice cream milk with a large wand mixer

· learning to operate an ice cream batch freezer (not complicated)

· filling containers with the frozen product

· walking frozen containers into freezer

· Keeping inventory of stock

· printing labels

· packaging pints in cases for delivery

· basic clean-up and organizing.

Qualifications

· Work in food manufacturing is a plus but not necessary   · (experience in manufacturing including warehouse or assembly will be considered a transferrable skill)

  • Responsible for creating WT’s and making and placing purchase orders as needed. Working with vendors and following up on purchase orders that have expired delivery dates.

  • Monitoring and resolving material-flow quality issues by performing investigative root-cause analysis, determining corrective actions, directing, implementing, and following-through on actions.

  • Collaborating with Manufacturing Manager to develop customer commitment strategies.

  • Communicating material-flow in-process schedules and completion status updates to internal customers.

  • Evaluating and determining the most efficient and cost-effective logistic solutions for material transportation throughout facilities.

  • Evaluating material inventory and implementing process improvements to reduce and eliminate aged WIP, raw material and finished goods.

  • Resolving product and material shortages by initiating contact and coordinating with vendors, suppliers, planners, etc., to discuss issue, develop a plan of action, and execute on the resolution required to meet schedule commitments.

  • Generating required production control related reports and disseminating information to the Manufacturing Manager.

  • Maintaining detailed job task documentation, reports, records, etc., as required.

  • Providing support in preparation and execution of physical-inventory.

  • Perform related environmental, health, safety, maintenance, quality, production-flow, continuous improvement job duties to support plant machinery, equipment, and manufacturing-related initiatives and programs.

  • Training duties as identified.

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·         Associate degree in a technical-related field from an accredited college with a minimum of 6-months experience in manufacturing operations or mechanical engineering; or

·         Technical Certificate from an accredited educational institution with a minimum of 18-months of experience in manufacturing operations; or

·         High school diploma/GED with a minimum of 3-years of experience in manufacturing operations.

  • Proven ability in working independently without supervision.
  • Proven ability in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated communications skills, both oral and written.

    Primary Function:


    Troubleshoot to determine root cause and corrective for hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems and devices on all manner of equipment in the investment casting foundry. Provide concepts for equipment upgrades to improve safe operation, productivity, and ease of operation.


    Tools and Equipment:


    Typical devices, components and equipment that will be addressed in the normal scope of work include but are not limited to:


    • Inductions coils for water leaks and electrical/control issues

    • Vacuum systems for gas/air leaks and electrical/controls issues

    • Motor starters and VFDs

    • Hydraulic cylinders and equipment/systems utilizing hydraulics

    • Pneumatic cylinders and equipment/systems utilizing pneumatics

    • PLC controls and electrical circuitry within control cabinets

    Facilities supplied resources such as HVAC including chillers and humidification equipment, compressed


    air systems, water and site electrical services


    Materials:


    Typical materials encountered include but are not limited to:


    • Steel in various geometries

    • Electrical supplies: switches, wires, conduit, electrical cabinets, fuses motor starters, VFDs, contactors and similar electrical devices

    • Hydraulic oils, lubrication oils, greases

    Working Procedure:

    • Perform lockout/tagout to meet all regulatory and safe working procedures

    • In a self-directed situation or as part of a team perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis on complex equipment and/or equipment subsystems for individual or multi-disciplinary issues involving one or more of mechanical, electrical or controls.

    • Provide feedback based on troubleshooting including possible solutions along with supplies needed for the resolution

    • Once a solution is agreed to execute resolution with minimal oversight

    • Work to minimize downtime for production and support equipment by executing preventive maintenance and providing feedback for predictive maintenance.

    • Be able to read, interpret accurately and work to electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematic drawings

    • Follow all safety requirements of the job as outlined on the job safety card.

    • Execute all activities in a safe manner utilizing all PPE required

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

    • Complete all paperwork associated with the job. Correctly maintain all forms and instruction sheets

    • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment

    • Inform your supervisor about problems that occur

    • May be required to handle hazardous waste by collecting and transferring the waste into proper containers at satellite storage areas or storage areas and assuring that the containers are properly inspected, labeled, and closed as required. Must follow correct instruction for handling hazardous waste and report any deviations to supervisor immediately. Must attend yearly instruction in hazardous waste handling and review of current procedures if job duties could affect non-compliance.

    Special Skills and/or Experience:


    • Advanced Military Training School a plus

    • Journeyman Electrician license a plus

    • NFPA 70E certification a plus

    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

    • HVAC experience a plus

    Minimum Education Requirements:


    • A/S in electrical or electronics technology or completion of an advanced military service plus three years experience outside equivalent.

    • Journeymen’s electrical license is a plus and may be substituted for the education portion of the requirement.
