What's this work like? we work with different fruit as the seasons change, but the bulk of the job is:


  • prepping fruit (light-weight repetitive hand work)

  • filling and capping jars (1 pound repetitive hand work, using machines)

  • lifting pots full of hot jam (30 pounds)

  • maintaining relentless quality control (every jar of jam has to be perfect. We take pride in our work)

  • cleaning and labeling jars (1 pound repetitive hand-work)

  • cleaning up the kitchen with the rest of the team (and dishwashing pots).

What's the work culture like? 


  • we are a very small team (right now there are two owners + two employees, you will be the third employee)

  • we treat each other with respect and help each other out (if you're looking for a job where you can do as little as possible and miss a lot of work days this isn't the right job for you)

  • we do quality work efficiently, this is a pretty mellow environment. there's not a lot of loud music playing or a lot of socializing. we're very busy and are focused on getting our work done. 

Physical Demands:

Applicants should be able to stand on their feet for the whole day, lift 50 pounds (bags of sugar), climb ladders, and do repetitive tasks with their hands (repetitive weight up to 1 pound).

Language Requirements:

Our kitchen team only speaks English. Every day we do different work that requires communicating with the rest of the team, receiving instructions, asking questions. English language proficiency is required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Direct and coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS


Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.


Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.


This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a Masters Degree in Finance or Accounting, five to ten years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, and a CPA.

  • Contributes to the daily operation of the Repligen Affinity team, which will include the following:

    • Fermentation using a 3000L bioreactor

    • Product recovery using Microfiltration and Ultrafiltration

    • Aseptic strain handling and liquid fill/finish within a Bio-safety cabinet

    • Large scale column chromatography

    • Product recovery using tangential flow filtration

    • Large scale buffer/media preparation

    • pH precipitation

    • Sterile filtration

    • Equipment cleaning (CIP/SIP)

    • Chromatography column packing

    • Timely and accurate completion/review of production documentation

Ruland Manufacturing is looking for an ambitious Manufacturing Engineer to join our engineering team. This position will focus on making incremental improvements throughout the factory floor, programming and running CNC machines, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction based on knowledge of manufacturing processes and tooling. To be successful the ideal candidate will have high attention to detail, be able to implement simplistic solutions to complex problems, have a customer first mindset, and understand operations. The Manufacturing Engineer must fit into a company culture that requires high personal integrity, the ability to work with limited oversight, cooperation between departments, and self-motivation.


Ruland is a standard line ISO9001:2015 manufacturer of shaft collars and couplings with all manufacturing done in our Marlborough, MA location. The Manufacturing Engineer will be hands-on all day working with engineering and operations to identify process improvements, recommend changes, and implement new processes related to Ruland’s CNC mills and lathes. Operational improvements are focused on improving efficiency, reducing cost, and updating in-house automation. The Manufacturing Engineer is required to program controls primarily in G-code. To be successful, the ideal candidate must be flexible, organized, and willing to experiment.


The Manufacturing Engineer will need to assist operations setting up and running CNC lathes and mills. Ruland is a moderate volume-high mix manufacturer with setups typically taking 15-30 minutes and the average run size being 250 pieces. The Manufacturing Engineer must be able to work at a fast pace to keep up with standard production while maintaining a process improvement mindset. Running equipment on a regular basis is critical to being able to identify waste within the system and fix it.


The Manufacturing Engineer must have in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and tooling to be successful. Along with running equipment, the ideal candidate will be able to design and make standard fixturing as well as improve existing fixturing. The Manufacturing Engineer will also help evaluate the adequacy of tooling and make recommendations for how using new/different tooling can help reduce cost and waste. Additionally, the manufacturing engineer will assist operations in implementing 6S throughout the different manufacturing cells. This will help Ruland stay more organized by reducing waste.


Ruland uses a variety of software to assist engineers in completing work to a high standard and on time. Experience with SolidWorks is desired for the Manufacturing Engineer to perform their job effectively and integrate into Ruland’s fast moving engineering department. All production and fixture drawings are controlled in SolidWorks. The Manufacturing Engineer will provide assistance with Ruland’s ISO 9001:2015 QMS including internal auditing. To manage ISO documentation and internal communication Ruland uses Microsoft products including Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Access, and Excel. Fluency in these programs is a requirement.

Minimal Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical engineering or other related field.

  • Five (5) to ten (10) year relative project management experience in a manufacturing environment.

Duties:

Perform GMP checks, pre- op and operational, and CCP and PC checks.


·        Equipment calibration: pH meter, thermometers, refractometer, Aw meter, scales. Opening and closing of lab, according to shift worked.


·        Testing of product samples for pH, brix, Aw, Salt, color matching, organoleptic evaluation and release of batches.


·        Verification of all production and packaging activity. This includes verifying lot numbers, use by dates, product labeling, net weight, and any other product specific information. Line clearance.


·        Report any non-conforming products or quality problems to other supervisors, R&D, and managers and take appropriate action. Follow hold procedures. Keep hold log up to date.


·        Organize retain standards for daily testing, and replace after production runs. Keep reference samples organized and replenish as needed.


·        Enter recipe data into the product test system. File completed recipes.


·        Swab for cleaning verification using ATP or Protein swabs, records results. Direct corrective actions when needed.


·        Keeps laboratory clean and organized.  Maintain all the lab equipment in excellent working condition by following proper maintenance. Sample preparation, communication and paperwork for outside lab.

  • Monitors the assigned area’s performance on hourly basis against KPI’s. Works with the team to ensure deviations (good and bad) are understood and actions are in place to address these deviations. Uses the hourly tracking to make the proper adjustments to still maintain the end goals.


  • Understands cost control and what financially impacts the assigned area. This includes knowing cost impact of OT, scrap, lost production time, etc. This impact should be known and actively managed through the monitoring of the KPI’s.


  • Knows Safety / OSHA / Regulation controls and shares with team.


  • Ensures that Quality Control is being performed at each work center based on the QC standard, RMA corrective actions, and internal/external customer feedback.


  • Trains and drives of operational principals within the assigned area. These basic principles center around Continuous Improvement and tools like 5-S, waste elimination, production scheduling, and removal cost of non-quality.


  • Plans and balances overtime based on workload, schedules, and position.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Two year degree and a minimum of two years of experience in a leadership role or equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.


  • Effective written and verbal skills.


  • Ability to read a tape measure, do basic mathematical calculations, and use a calculator.


  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and to lift 75 pounds.


  • Ability to twist, bend, and reach to perform job duties.


  • Ability to work while being exposed to outside weather conditions.


  • Be detailed and customer oriented.


  • Ability to learn internal Enterprise Resource Planning System.
