POSITION SUMMARY:


The VA Mortgage Insurance Claims Specialist will be responsible for the mortgage insurance claims made on loans within Rushmore’s portfolio.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


 Collects and prepares supporting mortgage documents needed to file conventional MI claim, such as origination documents, advance invoices, servicing comments, and pay histories


 Manages FHA/VA claim timelines and satisfies all appropriate filing requirements


 Enters claim details into proprietary Rushmore system


 Provides instruction and direction to clients, vendors, and various MI companies


 Audits all closed claims to identify the opportunity to file a supplemental claim


 Performs other duties as assigned by management

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:


 Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw conclusions


 Ability to work in fast past environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously


 Ability to interpret mortgage servicing information and insurer issued documents such as denials, rescissions, and EOB’s


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:


 High School Diploma required


 Bachelor degree preferred


 Minimum 2 years’ previous experience filing and responding to private and government MI claims


 Minimum 3 years’ recent experience with mortgage insurance claims


 Experience with Fidelity MSP servicing platform


 Experience with LPS Desktop and LPS Invoice


 Experienced user of FHA Connection and VALERI


MACHINES, OFFICE EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE:


 Proficient in Microsoft Office applications


 Solid experience with LPS/MSP Servicing System (functionality and reports)


Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel with ability to complete various lookups and comparisons


(V-lookup, Pivot Tables).


 NAV experience desired

The Home Loan Specialist I is an entry-level role supporting various Channels. The individual acts as a key contributor to facilitate efficient and effective processes that support business and customer service objectives. Responsibilities may be limited within a specific function/channel or across functions/channels.



  • Performing routine data entry and validation tasks

  • Initiating third party orders (title, appraisal, hazard, flood cert, credit, etc.)

  • Reviewing and validating loan documents

  • Handling routine calls, emails and/or chat responses

  • Assigning and distributing workloads

  • Monitoring work queues and intervening as needed

  • Interacting with multiple departments to expedite processing and/or issue resolution

  • Performing other related duties as required and assigned
