Caviar for Companies is the full-service catering arm for Caviar. As a Catering Captain, you will be the front line of the operation, running white-glove and drop-off catering services hands-on with our corporate clients. A bit more about this role: While hours may vary, Captains typically work 3-5 hour shifts between 8:30am-3pm (though we do also occasionally have morning/evening shifts for breakfast/dinner). You must have a passion for providing outstanding customer service, or a desire to learn more about the hospitality industry. Many Caviar clients form such a strong bond with Captains that they specifically request their favorite Captains to serve their meals.

As a Captain, your responsibilities will include:


  • Pick up pre-scheduled healthy breakfasts, lunches and dinners from restaurants and deliver them to local companies.

  • Work with a team of Catering Captains to beautifully present meals that wow our clients.

  • Provide client feedback using our proprietary app.

  • Maintain professionalism while interacting with clients and restaurant partners.

  • Complete maintenance and operational tasks as assigned by the Hub Manager.

Requirements


  • Be 18 years old or older.

  • Be willing to obtain a food handler card.

  • Be available for at least two lunch shifts from Monday to Friday.

  • Have an iPhone or Android phone.

  • Have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. (Not a requirement in NYC.)

  • Own your own vehicle. (Not a requirement in NYC.)

                              Food Acquisition Specialist/Driver

The Food Acquisition Specialist/Driver is responsible for managing in-kind donations, including all aspects of a donation (scheduling, pick-up, receipting and stewardship). This person also provides support for the Warehouse Manager and Coordinators of the Pantry's distribution programs as needed.    

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:  


  1. Assist in the gathering of resources (both food and other in-kind items) needed to operate the programs at the highest operational level.

  2. Operate a commercial van to pick up and deliver to Lakeview Pantry locations in an efficient, timely and safe manner. Operate vehicle according to all local, state and federal regulations.

  3. Maintain, load and unload in-kind donations in cargo van, up to 50 pounds regularly, using manual carts and dollies.

  4. Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records of all pickup and delivery transactions, and enter transactions into our database of in-kind donors.

  5. Evaluate the suitability of donated products for distribution at Lakeview Pantry, through established guidelines of safe food handling.

  6. Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles: ensure that all pre-trip and post-trip vehicle maintenance and safety checklists are completed daily; report any issues to Manager immediately.

  7. Manage a calendar of regular food drives and events.

  8. Coordinate the pickup of in-kind food donations including the interaction and coordination with volunteer drivers.

  9. Manage a group of key donors, including all aspects of the relationship (receiver, pick-up times, food quality/quantity) and volunteer drivers who pick-up donated product.

  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

TOP CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:  


  1. HS Diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree or equivalent college courses preferred.

  2. 1-2 years of experience in retail, warehouse, logistics, delivery, food service, or social service environment, preferably with experience in soliciting donations.

  3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  4. Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a van.

  5. Strong interpersonal and verbal communications skills.

  6. Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

  7. An understanding of, and belief in, the importance of food security for everyone.

The Catering Delivery Driver will use the Food Shift van to transport prepared food from The Food Shift Kitchen in Alameda to various catering events around the Bay.   • Pick up, deliver, and set up catering services for local clients. 

  • Deliver food while upholding food handling safety standards. 

  • Assist with necessary unload at the kitchen in addition to other kitchen tasks as needed.

  • Complete and submit a of hours worked. Paycom will be set up with onboarding. 

  • The candidate will keep an updated in the van, logging the start and end mileage for every trip.

  • The candidate will track time of arrival and departure and each pickup and drop off site to find inefficiencies and keep the schedule efficient.

  • Keep any receipts for expenses and submit to for supervisor approval and reimbursement.


    • There is a fastrak in the van, so the driver will not need to pay for tolls.



  • Keep the van clean and tidy (i.e. cleaning up any spills).

  • Catering events as they are booked

  • Valid California driver’s license

  • Clean driving record - position is conditional on a DMV background check 

  • Ability to lift 50-60 lbs and load them in and out of the van

  • Ability to communicate in a friendly and courteous manner with clients and Food Shift staff 

  • Interest in food recovery and the Food Shift mission

  • Experience transporting and setting up catering 

  • Experience interfacing with catering clients 

  • Copy of CA license

  • Approved background check 

  • Updated resume

  • A reference from previous driving job

As a Catering Captain, you will be the front line of the operation, running white-glove and drop-off catering services hands-on with our corporate clients. You will make a great Captain if you have a go-getter attitude, a desire to learn and improve, and a customer service-oriented mindset.   • Be 18 years old or older.

  • Be willing to obtain a food handler card.

  • Have an iPhone or Android phone.

  • Have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. (Not a requirement in NYC.)

  • Own your own vehicle. (Not a requirement in NYC.)
