Nursery Associate

Garden Store Worker

24 to 40 hours a week

Ideal candidates will work at least one weekend day

Want to spend your days surrounded by plants, collaborating with other creative, plant-obsessed people? Want to develop your skills, expertise, and vision in a beautiful garden environment?

We’re looking for a friendly, strong, motivated person to join our nursery team, which is responsible for the physical work of watering our plants and keeping the store attractive, clean and organized. Nursery Associates spend their days in our lovely garden store doing heavy work with plants and pots. They interact with customers every day, too, so you should love working with people as much as you love working with plants.

You’ll be expected to lift, carry, and move heavy items on a daily basis, so you’ll need to be strong and fit. You must be able to lift 75 pounds regularly. You’ll load sold merchandise into vehicles, clean the nursery, move large plants and pottery in our yard, and create displays with direction from more experienced staff members. You’ll also be performing minor facilities repairs.

Customer service experience in any industry would be a major plus. You’ll be responsible for greeting customers and connecting them to a more experienced salesperson when necessary. You'll get a lot of questions about plants, so you’ll need to be able to admit quickly when you don't have the answer and find someone on staff who does.

If you have some plant and garden experience, a passion for horticulture, and a strong interest in garden design, we’d love to hear from you. Experience in a warehouse or construction would also be helpful. We’re looking for someone who wants to learn! Garden and Facilities Associates are in a great position to gain knowledge and expertise from the skilled horticulturalists and garden designers who work and shop here.

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Company Description

Rodney and Denise Steidinger were married in Illinois in 2000. Having both been raised on farms, we knew the meaning of hard work and the challenges of growing strong crops. In 2006, Rodney and Denise headed west to sunny Arizona. Rodney decided to work what he knew best; growing plants. He worked in the landscaping trade for another company and Denise took care of the bookkeeping and marketing.

In early 2008, the economy declined and the owner of the company where Rodney worked suddenly left the state, leaving Rodney with a young family to raise without a job. We prayed for wisdom about what to do next and decided to start our own business. Initially, when TKHaley Yard Care was founded in 2009, the inspiration for the business name came from our three daughters. Rodney's good friend, Jacob, with Rock-N-Earth Landscaping suggested that we name our new family-owned business TKHaley. T is for Trinity, K for Kiley and then little Haley stole the show with the rest.

After five years of being involved in the Prescott community, we saw a major need to help less-fortunate children. In March 2013, we became licensed foster parents. In April of 2013, a little three-year-old girl named Ella came into our home. The goal of the State was for her to be reunited with her biological father. Throughout the process his parental rights were severed. The State asked us if we would be interested in keeping her. We prayed about adopting her and thought, "what would we desire if we were in Ella's situation?" In August of 2014 Ella officially became part of our forever family. Frequently during the first year, Ella asked if we would change the name of the business to TK Ella. We tried to figure out a way to include Ella in our business name, but struggled to come up with a solution, as we had no idea what the future holds. There is always the possibility that another child like Ella will enter our life.

After much thought, we decided not to name it after our children. Our goal was to brand our new company name in a way that would not be easily forgotten. TKHaley Yard Care became ZebraScapes, LLC on January 1st, 2015. Our continued goal is to stand apart from other companies through our quality and integrity. One very happy family. One very happy business.
