Design Build firm is looking for a Senior Designer to join our Los Angeles Division.

What are we looking for?


We are looking for a leader who shares the same fire the rest of the team has. The ideal candidate for this position will serve as a pivotal point for the entire SOCAL operation. This position requires advanced forward thinking and the ability to problem solve while juggling multiple projects simultaneously. The Senior Interior Designer will lead projects from the initial design phase all the way through construction and sign-off. We are looking for an individual who is motivated by results and looking to grow with the company.


Ideal Candidate will have the following skills:


- Landscape Design Experience


- MUST have at least 7+ years experience in interior, architetural, and or interior design


- Hands-on Construction experience is a BIG Plus!


- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)


- Must have initiative to follow through with pending items, anticipating questions and creating solutions.


- Meticulously organized, efficient and detail-oriented


- Able to work well independently without much supervision and ensure others are on track to completing their goals.


- Practice discretion with confidential client and business information.


Basic Responsibilities will include:.


- Communicate regularly with clients regarding project details and meet all Design deliverables in a timely manner.


- Creates estimates/Change Orders, present to clients and works with the billing department for invoicing.


- Serves as primary liaison with vendors & sub-contractors.

Landscape Architect - Senior Designer


This dynamic position would manage high end residential projects for world famous landscape architects and designers. Our ideal candidate will have design-build or construction experience and be able to meet with landscape architects, builders and homeowners, as well as prepare, review and approve construction documents. CD Design is a boutique, food forward landscape design firm driven by interactive design, ecology and food production. We are a small, growing team of motivated designers, architects and professional urban farmers. Our projects range from high-end modern to historic residential commissions.


We are looking for a landscape architect / landscape designer who is excited to explore and expand with us as we create and model stylized and productive landscapes throughout the Bay Area.


Our sister company, The Backyard Farm Co, empowers people to grow food through an educational mentoring program. It focuses principally on residential families and corporate campus employees. Most of our completed projects funnel into the program, ensuring long lasting, impactful relationships with our clients and gardens.


Responsibilities:



  • Support principle designer in collaborative design projects and drafting.

  • Design execution from concept to construction. Schematic design, construction documents, and project administration, including preparing take-offs, project budgets, and permit sets.

  • Create planting plans and source plants.

  • Prepare presentations for design review. 3D modeling/rendering is a plus (either hand drawn or CAD).

  • Construction administration - Conduct on-site observations and punch-lists before, during and after construction

  • Research products, plants and construction methods related to projects.

  • Analyze and interpret environmental reports and land condition surveys, to evaluate drainage, energy usage, etc.

  • Assist Project Architects, Project Designers and Project Managers in the execution of specific assignments.

  • Communicate regularly with clients, design team and contractors to update on all stages of project progress.


Experience:



  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Landscape Architecture. Landscape Architecture license a plus.

  • 3-5 years experience working in landscape architecture/landscape design with a firm or as a solo designer.

  • 3-5 years experience working closely with other architects and/or general contractors working on schematic design through construction documentation.

  • Experience creating and submitting permit sets to local planning/building departments.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks, Sketchup, Adobe Suite.

  • Strong graphic and design sketch skills (digital or hand drawn, as needed).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Sophisticated communication skills are paramount at CD Design.

  • Ability to work efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Curious and open minded to learn and assume increased responsibilities

  • Self-sufficient and able to bring a design project from start to completion.


Terms:



  • Full time following a three month trial period

The USC Graduate Program in Landscape Architecture + Urbanism is looking for a design instructor to teach MLA students in the final year design-research curriculum (Advanced Design-Research). Ideal candidates are landscape architects with a strong investment in research or a landscape design scholar. Research topics related to urbanism, climate change, sociopolitical or sociocultural perspectives on the design of urban or regional landscapes should be broad enough for students to pursue their own passions while guided by an overarching research question. New disciplinary knowledge and innovative landscape strategies are the expected curricular outcome.

Requirements

Candidates must have at least one professional degree in Landscape Architecture, preferably a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) or PhD. The program is looking for candidates with a strong research agenda, experience teaching in a design studio and strong academic integrity.
