Join the team at Mariposa Baking Company and be part of a successful, women-owned, certified-green, artisan-crafted gluten-free bakery in North Oakland.  

The dishwasher/janitorial is a key position on each shift. This person makes sure dishes are being continuously cleaned, rinsed and sanitized and as things move into the dish pit, they’re getting washed properly for being put back clean into the bakery. You must have a great attitude, willingness to learn and you should have experience in dishwashing. The job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Job Description/Responsibilities:

• Wash, rinse sanitize dishes, utensils, sheet pans and mixing bowls, etc.

• Put things away in their proper location

• Keep the kitchen clean by deep cleaning where needed

• Restock paper supplies

• Take out the garbage, recycling and compost regularly

• Maintain the cleanliness of customer bathroom and restock supplies as needed

• Due to COVID, frequent sanitizing of door knobs, surface areas, etc. throughout the bakery

• Decontaminate the bakery with a virucide

• Mop the kitchen regularly and do any other cleaning or janitorial duties in the bakery

• Participate in weekly Production and Safety Meetings

• Work well with others and being able to be a strong team member and a collaborator in the team

• Other sanitation and janitorial duties as assigned for the successful operation of the Bakery

 

Schedule:

Tuesday thru Saturday

7:30am – 3:30pm

 

Requirements:

• 100% reliability is a must

• Dishwashing experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Food Handler Card (or could obtain one within 30 days of hire)

• Strong ability to work well with people

• Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:


Performs a wide variety of maintenance and janitorial duties. This position performs a wide variety of maintenance duties including preventative, emergency, cosmetic and routine maintenance and regular inspections. Maintenance/Gournds man comes with a Studio Apartment. 




  • Works with Property Manager to conduct routine monthly safety hazard and maintenance deficiency inspections in accordance with JSCo and Uniform Physical Condition Standards (UPCS).

  • Perform electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, masonry, plastering, painting tasks and janitorial duties as assigned.

  • Operates and makes all installations and repairs in accordance with local, state and national codes.

  • Performs timely apartment unit turn-overs as directed by Property Manager.

  • Performs routine work orders as necessary. Prepares work orders for safety hazards and deficiencies to specify on the work order.

  • Participate in off-shift and weekend emergency maintenance coverage as scheduled.

  • Report physical condition needs of common areas such as the grounds, building exteriors and takes corrective action.

  • Performs overall upkeep of the grounds. Including but not limited to remove trash from the grounds, gather and empty trash and recycling bins, cleaning sidewalks, parking lots and carports.  Maintaining all areas are clean (i.e. by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming). 

  • Performs monthly safety hazard and maintenance deficiency inspection.

  • Creates and implements preventive maintenance schedule.




  • High school diploma or GED certificate.

  • Must possess valid California driver’s license & must possess reliable, insured and registered vehicle

  • Basic mathematical skills with fluency in reading, writing and communication in English.

  • A minimum of 3 years of multi-family apartment maintenance experience.

  • Knowledge of precautions and safety procedures for working with ACM/LBP in pre-1981 housing.

  • Ability to perform maintenance and repair building trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC system, appliance repair, painting, drywall, plaster, fire protection system etc.

  • Ability to recognize safety hazards and take precautionary measures to protect self and others.

The external and internal appearance of our building reflects on our brand. Summary


Under general supervision of the Manager or Maintenance personnel, the Janitor is responsible for keeping exterior, common areas, vacant units, sidewalks and alleyways of property(ies) in a clean and safe condition.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


General duties:

  • Cleans all common and reception areas.

  • Cleans all vacant apartments.

  • Cleans all parking areas, sidewalks and alleyways.

Specific duties:



  • Vacuums carpets.

  • Washes windows and walls, ceilings, woodwork, door panels and sills (interior/exterior).

  • Keeps sidewalks clean (i.e., sweep, shovel, power wash).

  • Blows leaves from parkways.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);

  • OR 1 year janitorial or related experience and/or training;

  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Plumbing and mechanical aptitude; good safety habits.

  • General understanding of ongoing housekeeping and cleaning procedures.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:


 


Performs a wide variety of janitorial duties. Nature of work require emphasis on safe work practices, sustained physical effort, trouble shooting, problem solving, attention to detail, customer service and time management.




  • Picks up trash and litter around grounds and buildings.

  • Gathers and empties trash, including moving dumpsters for city trash pickup.

  • Keeps recycling areas, trash rooms and dumpster areas neat, clean and litter free.

  • Maintains neat, clean and organized maintenance shop and storage areas.

  • Keeps all utility and meter rooms free of dirt, debris and litter.

  • Cleans common area floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.

  • Steam-cleans or shampoos carpets.

  • Services, cleans, and supplies common area restrooms.

  • Uses and stores cleaning products in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Performs initial clean up and final detailed cleaning of apartment unit turnovers, including but not limited to: refrigerators, and range/ovens; exhaust fans and filters; counters, counter-tops and cabinets; sinks, vanities, tubs and showers; walls, hard surface floors and carpets; doors and windows; utility closets.

  • Performs miscellaneous janitorial maintenance related tasks or other duties as directed by Property Manager.


 




  • High school graduate or GED certificate.

  • Minimum three years of multi-family apartment janitorial experience.

  • Knowledge of proper disposal of hazardous materials, electronic waste as well as recycling practices and water conservation.

  • Skilled in usage and care of common hand and power tools used in janitorial maintenance work.

  • Ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 30 lbs.
