    Responsibilities/Job Description



    • Manage all aspect of a growing small business

    • Must be able to effectively organize for training and lead the team on all practice software, systems and processes implementation. Should be able to audit and document staff progress and work performance, counsel and encourage staff to meet objectives and goals.

    • Work closely with billing personnel by overseeing and managing billing process, generate and track reports for owner and providers.

    • Ensure practice compliance with regulatory requirements.

    • Effectively manage human resource role which would include: hiring, terminating, disciplining, and evaluating staff. Maintain and support all Human Resources policies and procedures

    • Be able to work as a liaison between owners, providers, and staff

    • Should be able provide coverage for all staff members.

    • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Be able to effectively market and advertise the practice including online reputation management and search engine optimization

    • Manage practice EMR system for patient medical records, scheduling, billing, and provider communications.

    • Must be able to troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective action plans in a timely manner

    • Will be actively involved in all office flow, patient services, office equipment, risk management, building management, and vendor needs


    Background Requirements:



    • At least 2 years of experience in a medical practice management position required.

    • Degree with a focus in business management or healthcare administration desired

    • Must have the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team

    • Experience with advanced IT, EMR system

    • Strong knowledge of medical billing

    • Advanced level of analytical thinking and problem solving

    • Advanced knowledge and understanding in MS Word, Excel and Outlook, and needs to have the ability to learn new software quickly

    • Must be able to troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues for offices

    • Must have the ability to work 08:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday, and additional hours when needed.

    Role and Responsibilities:


    • Interview and examine patients, review past medical history and request and/or perform diagnostic tests and examinations as necessary to make a diagnosis for primary care services. Contract Family Practice Physicians make diagnosis’s after evaluating information obtained and provide medical or surgical treatment and/or referral as appropriate.

    • The first line of contact with a newly enrolled Veteran-patient; patient loads are estimated to be approximately 18-20 Veteran-patients per day (combination of new and established Veteran-patients), per physician.

    • Provide healthcare services for the entire period of performance at the VASDHS or VASDHS CBOC on an as-needed basis. The usual work day will be from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (PDT) on weekdays. The physician will do an outpatient clinic or inpatient clinics during the weekdays per regular clinic schedules usually from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (PDT) daily. The physician shall schedule and perform procedures as appropriate.

    • Counsel and educate Veteran-patients, families, and VASDHS medical staff about general healthcare topics and concerns.

    • Contract Family Practice Physicians shall prescribe drugs and tests necessary to provide care.

    Qualifications:



    • Family Practice Physicians shall be duly licensed in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or the District of Columbia (D.C.) and residency trained in the specialty of Family Practice Medicine they are providing (THE CONTRACT PHYSICIAN(S) MUST HAVE GRADUATED FROM AN APPROVED SCHOOL AND COMPLETED A RESIDENCY OR FELLOWSHIP ACCEPTABLE TO THE SURGEON GENERAL), credentialed by the appropriate civilian American Medical Association specialty association, and indemnified by an appropriate/legal third-party corporate entity for their professional activities.

    • Must have current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

    • Must have current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number and National Practitioner Identifier (NPI)
