The Optician / Insurance Claims Clerk oversees the submission and reconciliation of insurance claims for l.a.Eyeworks, as well as other billing/posting functions. Familiarity with major optical insurance plans (VSP, MES Vision, Spectera, etc) and 2-4 years’ experience working with them, in addition to familiarity with optical practice management software (e.g., Compulink), are important qualifications.

The Optician / Insurance Claims Clerk will also routinely assist patients with sales/ordering/dispensing of eyeglasses. Demonstrated knowledge of optometric practices (e.g., pre-testing) and optical retail sales (e.g, designer frame and prescription lens knowledge), styling, and dispensing are preferred. 2+ years or more of in-store selling experience, measuring, inspecting, fitting, and adjusting – as well as ABO certification – will be given top consideration.

The Job:


The Customer Service Representative (CSR) is the main point of contact for the client. In our agency the CSR is responsible for the following:


· Being nice (always, all the time, to everyone)


· Answering insured’s coverage questions


· Calling insured regarding activity on their accounts (i.e. audits, cancellations, payments, underwriter questions, etc.)


· Reviewing/comparing quotes


· Reviewing insured contracts


· Binding coverages


· Delegating and following up on items being handled by Assistant CSRs

Work Hours:


8 am - 5 pm, with 1 hour for lunch from 12 noon - 1 pm. You will need to complete a green time off sheet for any time missed during the normal work hours.


 


Benefit Information:


Within your first week of work you will receive enrollment forms for Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance ($50k) that will go into effect the 1st of the month following 30 days after hire date. You will be eligible for the 401K Plan (Company matches 100% of contribution up to 4% of employee’s salary) on the 1st of the month following your 90 day probation period.


 


Paid Time Off:


PTO accrues at 2.46 hours a week. This totals 16 days per year, prorated from your date of hire. In addition, all employees will receive their birthday off.


 


Quarterly Bonus:


All employees, except Producers, are eligible to earn a quarterly bonus. As long as an employee’s Paid Time Off does not go over the 16 days allotted per year, the employee has not caused an Errors and Omissions issue for the Agency, and one educational goal, approved by management, for each half of the year has been met, the employee will receive their full bonus. If an education goal has not been met, 30% of bonus is withheld. One class for January to June and one class for July to December is required.
