As a member of the senior leadership team, this position is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing human resources policies and programs for physicians at medical centers. The Physician HR leader collaborates with and provides broad scale expert consultation to executive physician leadership and administrative physicians (Physician in Chief, Assistant Physicians in Chief, Chief of Service, Physician in Charge, etc.) on human resources matters including physician/staff relations, diversity, change, disability, performance management, benefits, and compensation. This position leads a team of Human Resources professional staff at one or multiple sites. The leader provides complex and high-level strategic consultation, coaching, education, and guidance to senior physician leadership and Chiefs of Clinical Service. The leader conducts investigations on complaints and/or charges involving physicians with TPMG Legal and TPMG Regional HR consultation. May conduct training and consultative facilitation on a variety of human resources topics such as federal and state laws related to employee physicians; may manage physician local interviews, onsite visits, and onboarding. This is a regional position based at KP medical centers and reports functionally, on a day-to-day basis to the Physician-in-Chief, with direct reporting to Regional Physician HR.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Oversees the local Physician HR function and directs the planning, development, implementation, and administration for the HR team in a decentralized Physician HR Department at one or multiple locations. Subject matter expert on advanced human resources and employee relations principles.


  • Collaborates with Physician in Chief and senior physician leaders to design, develop, and implement human resources strategies and programs aligned with TPMG vision and business objectives to create a culture of high performance and competitive advantage. May serve on the local medical center administration leadership team. May serve as a member of the local administrative leadership team.


  • Leads a team of local HR professionals, and provides professional growth and development opportunities for team members by setting and monitoring performance goals and soliciting performance feedback.


  • Builds strong partnerships across HR functional areas to effectively lead and leverage existing knowledge, expertise, and systems to deliver effective HR solutions and programs.


  • Coaches physician executives/leaders and senior managers toward goal-oriented and results-driven leadership. Develops coaching and action plans to assist physician leaders to resolve physician HR issues including performance, communication, compliance, and standards of expectations.


  • Leads and conducts thorough investigations on complaints and/or charges involving physicians in coordination with APIC of HR and TPMG Legal. Prepares and delivers reports and recommendations based on findings of investigations.


  • Engages with senior regional HR leaders in shaping Physician HR accountability outcomes. Examines and provides input into TPMG region-wide HR physician policy issues, guidelines, protocol, and strategic plans.


  • Develops, directs, implements, and oversees physician disability management strategies and action plans.


  • Anticipates, researches, and provides insight and advice to physician leaders about potential risks and opportunities to physician leadership, legal counsel, and HR leaders.


  • Manages and/or partners with physician leaders and regional HR on the development and implementation of organizational change efforts. Develops and delivers both written and verbal communications.


  • Develops, implements, and delivers HR leadership training programs for physician leaders and emerging physician leaders. Implements, monitors and tracks HR and compliance training for all physicians.


  • Maintains strict privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to physicians, and reports noncompliance with applicable federal, state, and TPMG Rules and Regulations and other policies to proper authority.


  • In partnership with the regional HR leadership team, co-leads critical business initiatives. Represents TPMG HR on local or regional committees in support of wellness, compliance and other strategic initiatives.


  • Leads efforts in support of TPMG Total Performance, including Joy and Meaning in Practice and Wellness; Patient Care Experience; and Performance Excellence.


Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum seven (7) years of HR progressive leadership experience, including any of these areas: HR consultation, organizational development, management, and/or HR director-level experience, with or without direct reports.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resources, business administration, organization development, industrial relations, organizational psychology, sociology, counseling, or other closely related field required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A

  • Experience in providing leadership and insight in all areas of HR including employee relations, compensation and benefits; administration; training/professional development; disability management; recruitment; workforce planning; change management; and strategic communication.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Director-level Human Resources experience with a large, complex, multi-site organization.


  • Preferred ten years HR leadership experience.


  • Master's or other advanced degree in HR related fields.

Sensata is searching for a California Human Resources Leader to manage our three California locations. All three sites are combined manufacturing and business centers with a total headcount in California of over 550 people. We are currently located in Carpinteria, Thousand Oaks and Vista. As a key member of the HR team, this role will be responsible for leading and assisting in the development and execution of HR strategies, initiatives, and programs in support of business plans and overall corporate objectives. This role may also play a key role in future M&A, as Sensata continues to expand its technology footprint on the west coast. In addition, he/she will be the main HR partner to the General Manager for our 165M Aerospace business unit, which is based out of our Thousand Oaks location. This position will report to a senior leader of the HR team.

  • Partner with the business in developing an understanding of the people and organizational strategy needs and assist in designing and executing solutions in the areas of: talent management, leadership development, succession planning, organizational structure, business process improvement, performance management, global teaming, rewards and recognition strategies, communication, staffing and engagement


  • Proactively initiate dialog with management, provide advice on issues affecting morale, performance, development and organization effectiveness, helping to determine root causes and recommending appropriate next steps
