We are looking to hire fun painting instructors to lead group "painting parties" virtually over Zoom, primarily on WEEKDAY afternoons. Paint the Town is a virtual & mobile events service that brings people together through creating, mixing, and mingling. Check out our site here: https://paintthetown.us

You can set your own schedule and take on as many or as few events as you'd like. Our engagements are intimate (typically 10-20 guests), and our clientele are friendly and respectful. You'll have fun while also developing interpersonal skills and meeting different people. 

NOTE: We host these private events at the request of customers, so this is a gig-based job and events will vary in timing, frequency, and location. That said, most instructors average 5-10 events per week.

COMPENSATION: $25 per hour (1.5 hours), so each event usually pays $38 for 1.5 hours.

IDEAL REQUIREMENTS: 


  • Have most weekdays free, from 1-7 PM to take parties (Tues-Friday)

  • Outgoing and charismatic; able to engage with people in a fun way as an “ARTertainer”

  • Loves working with different people and can take charge of a group

  • Reliable and responsive. Punctuality is a MUST- Proficient at painting with acrylic. Preferably a Fine Arts student, but self taught is also acceptable

  • Great communicator in English. Must be able to break down complex techniques into simple, easy-to-understand steps

MANDATORY INTERVIEW PROCESS: 


  1. Intro phone call/info session for 20-30 minutes

  2. Observe a virtual paint party recording and read through our event hosting guide (1 hour)

  3. Meet for a 1:1 mock paint party, where you teach me how to paint something as if I am a total beginner (1 hour)

  4. Lead a paint party as the instructor, with another member of our team there for support, continuity, and feedback (1.5 hours). This is paid at the training rate of $12/hour.

Our Services for People with Disabilities team is searching for a dedicated, energetic full-time Contract Monitor for our Host Home Services in the Waterloo area to cover the Eastern Iowa service area. (For the right candidate, we would be open to this position being out of Cedar Rapids or Dubuque area in addition to Cedar Valley area.) Duties


The Contract Monitor oversees specified Host Homes in the Eastern Iowa area, and is responsible for the oversight of services and communicating with the Independent Providers. This role is responsible for:


- Acting as the main contact for interdisciplinary team members and for consumers in the sites


- Working directly with consumers to provide support, assistance, and instruction in areas which facilitate personal growth and independence


This position may require long hours including some evenings and weekends to ensure the safety and satisfaction of the individuals served. Will also be part of an on-call rotation.

Qualifications


Qualified candidates for this job will have one of the following:


- A Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Education, or another human services-related field, plus two years of full-time, work related experience


- A Master's degree in Social Work or another human services-related field, plus one year of full-time, work-related experience


This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record, and the ability to pass an extensive background check, including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, the Sex Offender registry, and the criminal history check.
