is seeking an organized, energetic and experienced Canvassing Manager to lead our canvassing team in San Francisco and provide technical support and professional development to our canvassers throughout the Bay Area. In addition to day to day canvassing responsibilities, the Canvassing Manager will set schedules and approve canvassers’ hours and shiftsacross the regions.  Innovate Public Schools supports parents across the region to build powerful community organizations in their local communities that can successfully advocate for better schools and hold the system accountable to the needs of families and children. Innovate leads anetwork of grassroots community organizations led by passionate parent leaders from across the Bay Area. The Canvassing Manager works on specific regional campaigns incoordination with  Innovate’s Organizing team.  S/He will work 4 days a week in San Francisco and 1 day a week in another region (San Jose, Redwood City, or East Palo Alto), based primarily in Innovate’s San Francisco office and reporting to a lead organizer or designated supervisor in San Francisco.  The Canvassing Manager will be expected to work varying hours, including weekends and evenings. This role requires constant use of independent judgment, self motivation, and the capability to complete job responsibilities  with minimal support and supervision. As the Canvassing Manager, your objectives will be to:


  • Work with Innovate staff to refine and manage canvassing strategy for organizational campaigns in San Francisco and across regions.

  • Build a base of supporters in our focus regions of the Bay Area.

  • Manage a team of 2+ canvassers based in SF, as well as train and provide support and development for a team of 6+ paid part-time canvassers in other parts of the Bay Area.

Job Responsibilities 


  • Managing a team of canvassers to further Innovate’s education campaigns in San Jose, San Francisco, and the Peninsula


    • Scheduling the canvassing team’s shifts to maximize their outreach and  impact

    • Shadowing canvassers to offer feedback and support for professional development and overall quality and work with Supervisor to develop bi-monthly professional development plans for canvassing team

    • Drafting a script and talking points to be approved by the supervisor and organizing team leads for each campaign

    • Meeting weekly with supervisor and attending all staff meetings in order to effectively develop a weekly schedule, assign canvassing locations, and establish the focus of canvassing field work



  • Direct canvassing in San Francisco as needed and scouting of potential canvassing locations

  • Working closely with and taking direction from the assigned organizing team and supervisor 

  • Working with appropriate staff and supervisors to assist in the development of campaigns, regional canvassing strategies, and canvassing team professional development

  • Participating in Innovate’s professional development program, including completing the Community Organizer Training Program and attending the Annual Parent Leader Institute 

  • Support hiring managers in regions outside of San Francisco in the canvasser recruitment and hiring processes; lead the hiring for San Francisco canvassers

  • Working with the organizing teams to identify new campaigns and potential turfs to canvass within each assigned region

  • Coordinating data system input by canvassers and ensuring that data is updated and followed up on by the organizing team or appropriate staff 

Qualifications

Required


  • At least one (1) year experience canvassing and/or signature gathering for a campaign or political/social reform organization


    • Experience making strategic decisions about creating effective canvassing strategies, determining how and where to deploy people and resources

    • Experience in moving community members to participate in organizing campaigns such as converting large numbers of canvassing leads/contacts to community events, 1-1’s, and other participatory actions.  



  • Fluency in speaking and writing Spanish is required

  • Experience managing staff and volunteers, including part-time employee schedules and timesheets 

  • Strong critical and strategic thinking skills

  • Strong interpersonal, written and public speaking skills, particularly in communicating Innovate’s work to staff and the general public

  • Clear understanding and alignment with Innovate’s mission and theory of change

  • Experience working with low-income communities and communities of color

  • Ability to travel daily throughout assigned region 

  • Ability to work effectively across teams in a dynamic, learning environment

  • Experience with and sensitivity to multicultural work environments 

  • A valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable vehicle to perform job duties

  • Proof of full work authorization to work in the United States for the next 3 years or more

  • Ability to attend frequent evening meetings (average 3-4 per week) and some weekends 

Preferred


  • Baccalaureate degree or equivalent. 

  • Experience using Salesforce to enter contact information and pull reports

  • Professional experience in the field of community organizing and grassroots leadership development 


    • Understanding of and or basic training in community organizing models such as PICO, IAF, Gamaliel 



  • Experience analyzing public policies and institutions 

  • Understanding of the education justice and reform landscape 

  • Academic or experiential knowledge related to building social capital and political power in low-income communities, communities of color, and multilingual communities.

This is an hourly, part-time position.

Summary:

San Francisco Waldorf High School seeks a part time math instructor with a deep knowledge of mathematics. We seek teachers with a passion for mathematics, a sense of humor and the belief that all students can understand algebra and geometry.

Responsibilities include:

This position teaches two math tracks (3 class periods + prep per week per track for a total of 6 teaching hours) for the remainder of this academic year (2019-2020). The classes could be Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, or Precalculus, depending on schedule and qualifications.

WE SUPPLY all needed materials and lesson plans! 

Various schedules and locations are available. The classes are at elementary schools around central Marin. Each session is 7-12 weeks. There are separate class levels for grades K, 1-2, and 3+. 

Teachers typically teach one to two 1-hour after-school classes per day, on days of their choice. 

The main skills needed are: to appear reliably; to be able to safely manage classes of 5-15 children, ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade; to be enthusiastic about learning and teaching; and to be able to understand and teach a wide range of science topics at k-6 levels based on pre-written lesson plans (a formal science background is *not* required). 

Our teacher positions would be a great position for:

We are seeking a responsible, capable Program Coordinator/Teacher for our family support services in the Richmond district of San Francisco. He/She will be responsible for supervising the Learning Place – after-school program and coordinating various support groups for the program. In working with the supervisor, the coordinator will provide a safe, nurturing environment for families and their children to develop opportunities of learning, life skills and support for these Asian immigrant families.

Hours:

• 2 PM to 6 PM (20 hours) per week

Essential Duties:

• Supervise and assist the children in completing their homework and supplementary work

• Engage children in class activities, including arts & crafts, group projects, outdoor activities, etc.

• Communicate with the families regarding the children’s progress.

• Plan, prepare and implement the after-school curriculum and fieldtrip activities

General Summary

Substitute Teachers at Early Bird assist in a variety of teaching and learning environments with infant and toddler age children. Substitutes assist with on-floor program participation and care of the children and tasks that support the smooth operation of the program such as set-up and cleaning up of meals and activities. Substitutes step in to care for the care group of a regular teacher who is out for the day.

Assures on-going, age-appropriate activities and development of children. Implements the curriculum as needed and under the direction of regular teaching staff. Provides a safe environment for all children at all times.

Essential Functions

· Maintains continuous visual supervision of the children at all times.

· Fosters cooperative behavior and the development of social skills using positive reinforcement and guidance.

· Assists in the implementation of age appropriate activities, as directed.

· Invited to attend center’s staff meetings, parent nights and other center events.

· Guides children in health and safety practices and self-care.

· Observes children to detect signs of ill health. Immediately reports any concerns to center staff.

· Communicates with parents and staff in a professional manner.

· Maintains, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the teacher that is out for the day.

· Establishes positive working relationships with center staff.

· Creates a climate that promotes fairness and respect.

· Maintains confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff or parent/guardian.

· Familiar with emergency procedures.

· Substitutes may not be left alone with a child and must be under the supervision of a head teacher.

· Able to observe, see, hear and respond to children's needs in all areas of center grounds and during off-site excursions.

· Able to safely lift 30 pounds from floor to waist level 25 to 100 times per day. Required to ask for assistance for lifting over 30 pounds.

· Able to respond to a child's needs 30 feet away within 30 seconds without danger to the staff person's health.

· Able to work in indoors or outdoors with various temperatures and noise levels.

· Able to stand for long periods of time with frequent kneeling, stooping, or crouching.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of at least six semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development OR continued enrollment in these courses until 6 units have been completed. Plus some experience in child care or a related environment, which could include parenting, grandparenting, volunteer work with children or baby-sitting, OR

Completion of at least 2 semester units in any area of the following: Recreation, Physical Education, Human Services, Social Welfare, Nursing, Psychology, Sociology, Home Economics or School Age classes and continued enrollment in these courses until 6 units have been completed. Plus some experience in child care or a related environment, which could include parenting, grandparenting, volunteer work with children or baby-sitting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, including Core* units, plus 6 months experience

*Core Units: Child Development; Child, Family, Community; Program/Curriculum; and Infant Development

The following additional qualification is preferred: CPR/First Aid certification.

The mission of Tiny Techs Club is to encourage creativity in science and technology in children at the elementary and middle school levels using our unique curriculum in Robotics. We use LEGO’s, software, and fun themes to teach children fundamentals in mechanics, building, programming and problem solving.

We are based in the Bay Area, California and have expanded our team to Denver and Portland!


  • Hours are dependent on employee availability, but currently average a fluctuating 15 hours a week with flexibility to your needs.

  • Paid training is provided on a continuous basis.

  • Classes are 2 hours long and generally begin between 1:30 and 3:30 depending on the school.

  • Additional work duties, outside of the classroom, can be done remotely (from home) and include maintaining teaching equipment and preparing for classes. All work hours are tracked and logged by employees.
