2+ years Sanitation Experience in the Food Industry


Summary:


Directly LEADS sanitation team members and carries out LEAD responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding employees; assist in addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Capable of cleaning and sanitizing the plant quickly and efficiently in a relatively short time period.



Principle Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Maintains Master Cleaning Schedule.


  • Cleans and sanitizes the plant quickly and efficiently in a relatively short time period.


  • Oversees and monitors sanitation team members, communicates quality and safety concerns to management and works with others to resolve these concerns.


  • Maintains chemical inventories and orders as needed.


  • Maintains supply inventory and orders all sanitation supplies as needed.


  • Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product.


  • Documents data obtained during all sanitation activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.


  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during sanitation activities.


  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during sanitation activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.


  • Presents technical and program information to team members and management.


  • Assists in directing technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.


  • Assists in Overseeing pest control program and updates reports weekly.


  • Participates in quality focused teams to reduce overall consumer complaints.


  • Performs weekly AIB Walk-thru and documents all issues. Reports findings to the management team weekly.


  • Required to work in an environment that is wet, very humid and undergoes extreme temperature changes, from very hot to very cold.


  • Coordinates sanitation coverage during employee vacations.



 


 


 


Equipment Cleaning:



  • Clean Equipment as directed by the Quality Assurance Director.


  • Clean all production line equipment, walls, floors and drains at the end of the production day using established procedures.


  • Cover all electrical plugs, panels, touch screen and motor with plastic bags to prevent water from seeping into the electrical.


  • Clean floors using sanitation chemicals as required, transporting trash and other waste to the disposal area.



Employee Safety:



  • Comply with all GMP, Safety Procedures and Company Policies as they apply to this position.


  • Work safely at all times and report any unsafe conditions or injuries to your Supervisor or Manager immediately.



Chemical Use:



  • Follows sanitation procedures for proper chemical solutions use, and proper concentrations so that it is not harmful to workers or equipment.


  • Use cleaning chemicals as instructed.



Record Documentation:



  • Document cleaning records indicating frequency, duration, concentration and use of final sanitizing product on the daily activity form and Master Sanitation schedules.


  • Complete all required paperwork, accurately and timely.



Sanitation Equipment Care:



  • Keep Sanitation equipment cleaned and organized.


  • Assist with maintenance of all sanitation related equipment.



  • Report any equipment that is not in good working conditions.


     




Other Duties:


  • Willing to perform varying tasks per the supervisor's instructions and in accordance with all safety guidelines mandated by the employer.


 


 


 


Required Skills


Working Conditions:



  • Be able to work in a team environment.


  • Frequently lift/move hoses, equipment chemical containers weighing 20-80 lbs.


  • Wear employer specified protective gear, including gloves, face/eye shields, aprons, boots, etc.


  • Perform varying tasks while standing, lifting, crouching, etc., during long periods of time.



  • Perform all tasks safely and in a manner that will not create or pose a potential hazard.


    Education:





  • Mechanical aptitude, good hand & eye coordination is required.


  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.


  • The ability to complete training requirements and have working knowledge of sanitation responsibilities for all production lines.

We are in immediate need to fill open positions on the Sanitation team.. Your responsibilities will be to assist in the sanitation/ cleaning of production equipment and maintaining a clean production environment. Safely disassemble, clean, sanitize, and correctly reassemble all filler equipment.


 


Keep bacteria counts to a minimum and will be held responsible for incorrect cleaning, or delay of production due to poor sanitizing.


 


Effectively sanitize floors, walls, pipe line exteriors, machine exteriors, conveyors, and any related machinery in need of cleaning and general upkeep.


 


Miscellaneous cleaning assignments such as working outside dumping trash, remove and empty drums, stack drums, bale cardboard, or general grounds clean-up.

  • Perform cleaning procedures throughout the entire facility both inside and outside: a) Perform tasks on master cleaning schedule and record the completion of those tasks. b) Complete action items from safety and food safety inspections. c) Address areas as needed that need cleaning including lunchroom, locker room and hand wash sinks. d) Empty garbage cans, sweep, vacuum, paint, cobweb removal and operate floor scrubber. e) Perform oil recovery and cleaning tasks in the waste water building. f) Assist with pest control program as directed (no pesticide or rodenticide contact or application). g) Other cleaning and weed removal as directed

  • Preform pre-cleaning tasks on a daily basis: a) Evaluate the daily cleaning tasks to be performed and ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) is available in working condition and used to perform the required cleaning tasks

  • Other Duties: a) Notify a manager, supervisor, foreperson or lead person about any issue(s) that may impact personal safety, product quality or product integrity. b) Complete and submit all required paperwork. c) Keep updated on new products, packaging, supplies, equipment, etc. as they relate to the cleaning process and line set up issues. d) Lock up facility and set alarm as directed. e) Work production if so directed. f) Check seals and hook up railcars on a nightly basis. g) Run both crystallizers and do proper procedures checks and keep accurate paperwork. h) Tank inventory at end of the night

  7. Responsible for ensuring all line, tanks and equipment are CIP’ed correctly and at the right frequency.

  8. CIP, production line cleaning and general plant cleaning.

  9. Become totally familiar with all line, and CIP circuits, as well as, the operation of the HTST. This includes safe operating and cleaning of all systems.

  10. Safely disassemble, clean, sanitize, and correctly reassemble all filler equipment.

  11. Keep bacteria counts to a minimum and will be held responsible for incorrect cleaning, or delay of production due to poor sanitizing.

  12. Effectively sanitize floors, walls, ceilings, pipe line exteriors, machine exteriors, conveyors, fans, and any related machinery in need of cleaning and general upkeep.

  13. Miscellaneous cleaning assignments such as working outside dumping trash, remove and empty drums/bins, stack drums, and bale cardboard.

  14. Work closely with both QA and Plant Supervision.

  15. Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

  16. Make timely decisions and communicate changes effectively.

· Maintain staffing levels, assign positions, and payroll

· Establish timeline and process controls to deliver a clean plant every morning


· Pre-operation inspections with sanitation personnel to have plant released from QA, including a USDA inspection.


· Daily meetings with Operations Manager to evaluate performance


· Managing and eliminating deficiencies of the daily QA Pre-op SSOP inspection.


· Review department chemical control logs, master sanitation schedule, ATP results as prescribed frequency.


· Manage chemical inventories and ordering


· Monitor APC and ATP testing results, take corrective action when needed, and maintain documentation.

Qualifications:


· 5 years sanitation supervisory experience with food industry background and familiarity with USDA and OSHA is required.


· Strong leadership qualities, responsible, dependable, and organized


· Lock out/Tag out, HACCP, GMP, and Safety certifications


· Knowledge of BRC or Global Standards Training compliance, documentation, and reporting.
