The General Manager will share our passion for local, hand-made foods using high-quality, vegan ingredients, and working closely with the CEO will oversee operations at our bakery in San Rafael, CA and support the growth of the business.

Responsibilities


  • Under the supervision of the CEO, work with and/or supervise administration, bakery and distribution staff to ensure financial, marketing, production, sanitation, and distribution goals and standards are met.

  • Interface with customers regarding new accounts, existing accounts and oversee the onboarding process for new accounts.

  • Oversee and lead kitchen & distribution personnel. This is to include hiring, training, motivating, evaluating, career development and coaching with approval of the CEO.

  • Help ensure all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), federal and state regulations and safety standards are up to date and documented. Assist in developing new programs and SOP documents.

  • Assist in product development processes and oversee the successful commercialization of new items.

  • Prepare & participate in any audits

  • Regular walk-through of the facility to determine which areas need attention, maintenance or repair.

  • Ability to lift and move up to (60lbs) and spend prolonged periods standing.

  • Participate in any future projects of the business.

  • Ability to assist in the bakery, deliver products, and visit stores as needed

  • 45-50 hours/week required including weekends as needed

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 3 years in management of a professional, high-volume food facility, with food distribution, manufacturing or other business characteristics similar to Judy’s Breadsticks.

  • Background in wholesale food production, equipment maintenance, sanitation, staffing/scheduling, and quality control. Bakery/Food experience is required! 

  • Bilingual - English and Spanish is a plus.

  • Understanding food production processes and proper record keeping (including food processing and sanitation) for regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Dependable and self-motivated team player able to own responsibility.

  • Assist in overseeing food safety including GMP’s, facility security, and HACCP.

  • Assist in overseeing the maintenance of the facility and equipment to meet company standards.

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office Software including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Computer Savvy Required- Quick Books knowledge is a plus!

Responsibilities/Duties:


  • Prepares roasted coffee for shipment to retail and wholesale customers

  • Prepares freight shipments for grocery customers

  • Communicates with customer relations and roasting teams to ensure orders are fulfilled efficiently and accurately

  • Ensures all orders are packaged in a timely manner to meet shipping deadlines

  • Prints and applies labels to coffee bags for upcoming production needs

  • Support team members as needed to keep production running smoothly

  • Keeps warehouse equipment in good operating order and maintains cleanliness

  • Completes a through cleaning of bins, tables, and general warehouse area and machines

  • Accurately and efficiently blends, grinds, packs, and heat-seals coffee bags

  • Cold Brew coffee production and packaging as needed

Qualifications:


  • Experience working in fast-paced environment ( ideally production, warehouse, or manufacturing)

  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time (this is a physical job)

  • Strong communication skills

  • Can maintain a calm demeanor for the team during peak periods of high volume or unusual circumstances.

  • Genuine passion or genuine interest for coffee a plus.

  • Flexibility to work various types of shifts as needed - including weekends and holidays as needed

Position Summary:

The Food Production Supervisor supervises inmate workers to ensure that meal and food items are prepared in accordance with production plans. Trains workers in methods of performing duties and assigns/coordinates work to promote efficiency of operations, along with sanitation of the facility and maintaining personal safety. All position will ensure that the tortillas are stacked, packed and is of the best quality to produce a safe, wholesome, quality product for packing for delivery. Position’s will manage and pack quality product for delivery as well as inventory in a FIFO order.


All position will ensure that they are following La Canasta’s GMP policy and are organized and clean area as they go. All positions are responsible to report any food safety or quality issue to supervisor or upper management with the ability to initiate action.


Duties and Responsibilities:



  • must be on time and at their work stations at the scheduled time of your assigned work day shift so that production is not delayed.

  • needs to insure that all safety procedures and guidelines are being practiced at all times. If any safety or mechanical issues arise it is your responsibility to notify your supervisor or manager.

  • Maintain personal appearance in accordance with good manufacturing practices.

  • Since the tortilla quality is so important to the packing process, you are responsible for immediately communicating poor tortilla quality to the supervisor. For example: Tortillas, folded tortillas, undercooked tortillas, dry, over cooked and under or overweight tortillas.

  • must insure packing the correct amount of tortillas in designated bags, label with date code and seal while taking as much air out of bag as possible according to process specs

  • Perform daily self-monitoring sanitation inspections with area lead and identify and/or take corrective action.

  • Verify weekly raw material reconciliation and advice any adjustment to accounting.

  • Perform weekly location compliance audits for freezer and finish goods.

Responsibilities



  • Performing any combination of hands on or mass production of pies or other baked goods

  • Reads staff and daily production schedule and report to appropriate department on time while fully understanding the daily expectations, requirements or specifications

  • Meet daily labor and waste goals as planned and driven by management

  • Responsible for learning and maintaining customer standards for product specs and acceptable quality

  • Must follow GMP’s, and audit/food safety requirements and guidelines; properly fill out documentation and QCQA records that measure daily performance and completion details as applicable

  • Maintaining clean and sanitary work station

  • Reporting any product deficiencies, food or safety concerns to Line or Production Supervisor

  • Complete training for facility GMP’s (allergen protocol, contamination, etc.)

  • Observing products across multiple stages, to include; ensure proper weights, baking, topping quantity/distribution, cooling timeline and packaging placement, count, label accuracy and finished good quantities stored properly

  • Responsible for independent station work and team work to complete orders properly

  • Responsible for the production of a quality product that meets all customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Effectively communicates as required with supervisor and all Associates.

  • Assists other Associates and Supervisor when requested

  • Performs with the best effort as indicated by the production line’s pace.

Manufacturing Specifications - Communicate with material suppliers to obtain specifications and convert them to the client's manufacturing format.


Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing to manage flow of information.


Draft new manufacturing specifications in the client's specifications database.


Finished Product Specifications - Draft new finished product specifications in specifications database, including NLEA and ingredient statements, based on input from Product Development Managers and Strategic Sourcing.


Route specifications for approval. Nutritional Database - Acquire nutrition information from the client's plants and Suppliers (ingredient and finished goods) and enter data into Genesis (nutritional database program).


Submit additions/revisions to Product Development Manager for approval.


Specifications Database - Assist Product Development Managers by managing and updating product files in SpecConnect (specification database system).


Submit additions/revisions to Product Development Manager for approval.


 


Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering or a similar discipline preferred.


1 to 3+ years’ experience in the field plus the education listed above.


Knowledge of food manufacturing equipment and food preparation.


Understanding of skin care Safety and microbiology.


Understanding of ingredient functionality and product formulations.


Working knowledge of packaging technology to evaluate adequacy of packaging.


Working knowledge of skin care labeling regulations.


Working knowledge of sensory evaluation procedures.


Excellent time management skills, sense of urgency and desire to complete all assignments on a timely basis.


Ability to shift priorities.


Able to operate simple chemical and analytical tools and laboratory equipment (refractometer, pH meter, simple titrations, and various measuring devices.)

Summary: Responsible for efficient manufacturing that includes receiving, processing, manufacturing and cleaning of equipment. Interaction with Maintenance, QA, and Warehousing is critical. This person will work closely with the Production Manager to ensure trained staffing is available to complete all production, rework and other assignments as needed. 1st shift - 530am - 2pm (depending on plant needs)
2nd shift- 2:30pm - 11:30pm (depending on plant needs)

Responsibilities:
•Visually check for correct card placement and code date on trays.
•Place the appropriate amount of finished product trays into the correct display box.
•Lift flat corrugated shippers onto the table as needed.
•Assemble display boxes as needed.
•Place display box into a corrugated shipper if needed.
•Place finished box on the conveyor.
•Insure the correct components are being used in production. Required materials can be referenced on Hormel Operational Product Specifications according to item number.
•Report any defects (leakers, foreign material, light weight, or discoloration) of components to the Line Lead, Production Supervisor, or QA Technician and place in marked containers.
•Place component in the correct position on the tray.
•Press pouches down in black bins to insure they are flat and to prepare for the Product •Bin Filler to supply additional component pouches.
