Swim Instruction for children (ages 6 months +) and adults. Responsible for groups of up to 4 to 6 swimmers at a time or private 1:1 lessons. Swim instructors that have been certified as Water Safety Instructors and who currently hold Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications will be considered for employment first. Applicants with past swim team experience are also great candidates. Swim Instructors will be trained to teach with our methodologies after hired for employment. Applicants educated in child development, psychology and lifesaving skills are highly encouraged to apply.

Lifeguards must have Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certifications to be considered for any Lifeguarding jobs. Lifeguarding shifts are assigned as they come in and can vary from 2-5 hour shifts. (paid for a minimum of 2 hours)

Seahorse Swim School is hiring motivated, energetic and reliable Swim Instructors and Lifeguards for Spring, Summer and Fall swim programs. We teach all ages, levels and abilities to swim aged 6 months and up. Applicants that are hired in Spring are expected to be available for work in the Summer and Fall to maintain consistency in instructors from March to October. (You must be able to work in the Summer too).

Hours avail to teach: Tues/Thurs 2-6pm and Saturdays 9 -1 (sometimes 2) pm at Aptos location. Lifeguarding jobs are available with us throughout the County in the Spring, Summer and early Fall and are at private locations that are mostly Sat and Sun from 2-5pm. Jobs are assigned as they come up. Travel stipends are paid to travel to each location as well and you will be paid a minimum of 2 hours for any guarding job.

Pay starts at $14/hr while training, goes up to $15/hr once you are able to take on your own classes, and then is increased based on job performance, reliability and consistency. Those with experience teaching, come with good/great references and also hold a current LGT cert, will start at $15/hr (or more) as we would assume you would take on your own classes sooner and would be raised based on job performance, reliability and consistency.

Work Schedule:     8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.      

Typically Monday through Friday   Must be able to be flexible for weekends and overtime on an as needed basis.  Exemption Status: Exempt

 

Summary of duties and responsibilities: 
 
The Aircraft Flight Check Instructor position is a customer service oriented position. This position is responsible for evaluating students in accordance with Pan Am Career Pilot Academy training course outlines, FAA Airman Certification Standards and Practical Test Standards, and general operations procedures. The individual performs many duties:
 Primary duties and responsibilities:  • Ensuring operational safety and conformance to company, local, and FAA regulations and policies • Conducting Part 141 stage checks for approved courses in accordance with the current approved training course outline (TCO) • Provide detailed debriefings to instructors, team leaders, managers or other employees involved in the students’ training • Provide guidance to instructors regarding improvements to students’ training • Maintain the quality (pass rate) of flight training at or above 80% through consistent and comprehensive evaluation • See that each assigned student is re-scheduled if a training delay occurs • Maintain accurate Talon records regarding evaluations • Conduct student training record audits • Maintain the flight training standards as outlined by both FAA and Pan Am International Flight Academy • Ensure that the policies and procedures of the General Operations Manual are maintained • Assists the Manager of Flight Standards in developing training standards for training procedures and aircraft maneuvers • Assists the Manager of Flight Standards in the continuous development and improvement of the pilot training programs  • Submits required reports as directed • Works with the Manager of Flight Standards concerning issues related to pilot job performance issues.  • Additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Flight Standards
 
 
Education, prior work experience, and specialized skill and knowledge:
 
Pan Am will provide a thorough training program to ensure that all employees meet and exceed the highest levels of safety and customer service.  Prospective applicants simply need a strong sense of safety and customer service to apply. As a minimum requirement, each applicant must possess the following:
 
• The ability to work in a time-sensitive, team-oriented environment • Prior part 141 experience • CFIA & CFII – MEI Preferred • A minimum of 200 hours dual given instruction preferred • Current flight review, IFR current, and current 141.79 • Ability to pass Check Airman Training and Initial Check Airman Evaluation

·         Training including but limited to ground, flight, and other training as assigned

Technical Requirements: Necessary FAA certificates and qualifications for courses being delivered by the Pan Am International Flight Academy. Ability to work in a team environment and support cultural diversity.  Must be knowledgeable with programs such as Excel, Word, Power Point, and Adobe. Must have a high level of both written and verbal communication skills.  Customer service oriented.


 


Physical environment/working conditions:      


 


Office and Flight Simulator environments. May have some medium lifting required up to 50lbs. May require prolonged periods of sitting, standing walking, bending and stooping.

Job Description


Perform those flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulations in accordance with the approved Training Course Outline.


Ensure all students understand and practice all aspects of Airgo’s Standard Operating Procedure


Regularly schedule each assigned student to ensure satisfactory progress through the course and immediately inform supervisor of any delays in training or satisfactory progress.


Responsible for accurately maintaining all appropriate records to include student training record, student logbook, and computer records.


Ensure those course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by all assigned students as stipulated in the applicable Training Course Outline.


Initiate stage check requests for assigned students.


Responsible for the timely course completion of all flight students assigned, including completion of required paperwork.


Monitor the maintenance condition of the training aircraft, and inform Airgo maintenance personnel of any questionable items.


Recommend curriculum and courseware improvements when appropriate and develop new curriculum or courseware as assigned.
