Employment status:  This is a part time position 32 hours per week to start.  There is potential for this to become a full time position as the demands of the business require.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Cutting fabric from patterns in bulk

  • Organizing incoming orders for the week for the sewing team

  • Meet daily and weekly production goals

  • Laundering fabric as needed before it gets cut and sewn

  • Check quality of incoming fabric and ensure all fabric is up to our quality standards before it goes through our sewing process

  • Packing and shipping outgoing orders

  • Check quality of outgoing pieces

  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace

Skills and abilities:


  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, this is a very physical job that does not allow for much sitting.

  • Must be able to lift heavy rolls of fabric as needed (approx. 50 pounds)

  • Sewing experience is not required, but preferred.  A knowledge of fabric grainlines and sewing pattern language is a plus.

  • High attention to detail and quality standards.

  • Flexibility to take on new tasks as the business demands.

  • A positive attitude and a desire to learn new tasks.

Job Description


An e-commerce site that specializes in women's and men's fashion, home goods, and beauty products is looking for a passionate and creative Product Designer to join their Product Design team as our second design hire. their ideal candidate has a good mix of experience with Interaction and Visual Design. As part of an early stage team and company, you will be wearing multiple hats and working on several core portions of our web and native mobile apps. Your work will have a lasting impact and shape how our vision comes to life as simple, intuitive and delightful experiences for their users.


 


What you’ll do:



  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers and other Product Designers to brainstorm, ideate and design engaging experiences on our web and native mobile platforms.

  • Organize and lead regular user research sessions to gather insights to help fuel our iterative product development process.

  • Produce sketches, wireframes, storyboards and interactive prototypes that capture the essence of our research data, design best practices and product vision.

  • Organize and lead design review sessions with key stakeholders.

  • Produce high-fidelity mocks, prototypes and specs for our engineering team, while following our design system and brand guidelines.

  • Take the lead on collaboratively building, evolving and evangelizing our design system

  • Collaborate with engineers as the product is being built to provide guidance on design vision and polish.

  • Mentor other junior product designers on principles of good design.

  • Participate in hiring panels to hire new product designers to the team and onboard them.

  • A systems thinker who can both define long term systems-level thinking and incorporate it into daily projects


 


What we’re looking for:



  • 5+ years’ experience designing responsive web and native mobile experiences across different products and user demographics.

  • A strong track record of building engaging visual experiences that are built through an iterative, data-driven and user-centric design process, demonstrated through a portfolio.

  • Experience running qualitative user research and usability studies.

  • Current knowledge of both UX best practices and dark patterns.

  • Experience building accessible interfaces for all demographics.

  • Deep knowledge of the unique traits, features and constraints on web and native mobile when designing experiences for them.

  • A strong visual designer and prototyper. We are extremely focused on craft and quality. You are a meticulous craftsperson with proven experience designing for mobile. You are well-versed in Sketch, Figma, Framer or another prototyping tool of your choice, with the ability to produce sophisticated prototypes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey your approach and design thought process.

  • A great collaborator and communicator who can work with numerous cross-team partners.

  • A tactical strategist that thrives in an environment where no blueprint exists. You are as comfortable in the “how might we” long term visioning space as you are in executing on important and more immediate UX shifts. You can pivot easily between the two.

  • A highly-generative yet craft-focused designer who can quickly create high-fidelity mocks and prototypes and easily switch context between projects

  • Bonus:

    • Experience designing experiences in the ecommerce domain is a big plus

    • Experience with Motion Design is a big plus.

    • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS is a big plus.

The Accessories Designer will join our Design Team in our Los Angeles Design Studio location, facilitating the transition of styles from design concept and first prototype to a final, production-ready sample. This position works closely with the Creative Director to research and determine seasonal style direction and ensure that products are cohesive with our brand image.


Responsibilities:


• Assisting the Creative Director to launch the seasonal collections as well as special collections.


• Overseeing the development of our accessory collection from concept to production: provide technical information to the production team, including specification packages, detailed drawings, and mock-ups


• Researching the local market and trends for new ideas and designs


• Collaborate and develop close working relationships with our graphics and packaging design as well as our production and marketing team.


• Fostering open communication and a team environment with all business partners


• Track and manage workflow and workload for own product and ensure product areas are maintained


• Producing design concept layouts and mood boards, including sketches, at the beginning of the design process to give the overall direction of the collection


• Demonstrating ownership and accountability of product responsibilities

Job Description


The Technical Designer (Misses & Plus) facilitates the transition of product from initial design and trend concept end to end. He/She collaborates with the Senior Technical Designer and cross-functional partners to land appropriate raw materials for both fit and functional intent as well as with business partners to obtain clear direction and consensus on design aesthetic, fit intent and construction. He/She is an expert, responsible for leading fit sessions on live models or mannequins and working with Merchants to achieve design aesthetic and communicate fit and balance corrections to participants. He/she will leverage and develop key vendor relationships to support working efficiently and drive fit consistency to improve the customer experience.


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Ensure overall Customer fit consistency and provide fit approvals when necessary.


• Demonstrate a sound understanding of design, merchandising, and product development priorities.


• Evaluate samples for fit, measurement, construction, pattern shaping and functionality to insure fit and proper styling.


• Lead fit sessions, construction approval, and documentation to all business partners to meet guidelines.


• Provide technical direction, internally and externally, on corrective actions needed to bring samples to brand fit standards. Utilizes written comments, sketches, photos or pattern making as needed to communicate. Shares information cross divisionally to insure continuous implementation of best practices.


• Issue grading guidelines to vendors after fit approval. Understands the issues, resolves problems, and uses experience and knowledge to generate solutions and/or alternatives to insure fit consistency and customer satisfaction. When applicable, will assist the other operating divisions with solving garment construction and/or fit issues.


• Provide technical design information to merchants and product managers to insure all partners are up to date and product is meeting deadlines.


• Train new associates in the technical design responsibilities and the fit approval process.


• Proactively utilize any available communication tool to convey technical issues/ requirements to vendors and to improve the technical design process.


• Support the development of tools (patterns, blocks, etc.) to achieve optimal and consistent fit.


• Leverage technical knowledge and leadership support to troubleshoot and resolve issues that are unique in nature and may require a novel approach.


• Effectively communicate fit intent, balance and construction across all channels & markets.


• Identify potential production, quality and costing issues and make recommendations to ensure brand integrity.


• Evaluate garment to determine compliance of specs, construction and fit intent.

• Computer Literacy: Mandatory experience with Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop, Excel, Microsoft office, Web PDM or other software-based specification system.


• Collaboration: Proven ability to influence and make decisions across geographies in a matrix environment where speed and cultural sensitivity is crucial.


• Problem Solver: Can proactively solve problems and effectively manage multiple challenges in a self-sufficient manner without acting independently.


 


EDUCATION:


• Degree- AA or Certification in Pattern-making, Apparel Manufacturing, Design, or equivalent


• Technical Design- significant experience with fabric and garment construction and manufacturing processes (minimum of 2 to 4 years)
