  Readers/Evaluators Needed – No Experience Necessary – Paid Training   

Measurement Incorporated is seeking college graduates for the position of Reader/Evaluator. Our reader/evaluators score student responses to examination questions of various types. Paid training is provided.    We are currently recruiting for the 2020 scoring season (February through June). If you qualify as a reader/evaluator, you will be eligible to work on multiple projects. The individual projects involve evaluating student responses in various subject areas (reading, math, science, social studies, etc.) at various grade levels (elementary through college). Student responses will be evaluated based on project-specific criteria for content, organization, grammatical conventions, and/or the student’s ability to communicate and respond to a specific directive.     


· A bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university 

· A successful interview and reference check 

· The ability to maintain strict confidentiality/security   


If invited to work on a scoring project, you will be required to provide proof of employment eligibility in order to complete a federal I-9 form before training starts.     


Reader/evaluators are hired on a temporary basis by project. If hired, you will be expected to work five days per week, Monday through Friday, for the duration of the project. Both day and evening shifts are available. Attendance during training (usually the first few days of a project) is mandatory.     



The starting pay is $11.70 per hour.

Job Description

Edits and proofreads moderately complex technical documents, including paper base technical manuals, Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), Electronic Technical Manuals (ETMs). Edits for grammar, spelling, clarity of expression, organization, conformance to company and government standards and specifications, and consistency of technical information (i.e., correct nomenclature, correct logic circuits, verify that text and art agree, etc.). Edits technical documents using state-of-the-art publications software/technology.


Skills Required:
High level of general educational development and/or a professional level of knowledge in a specialized field normally acquired by completing a Bachelor's degree in technical communications, english, linguistics, or related field. Two years of editing experience to obtain a working knowledge of technical editing and publication production processes, have the technical breadth to understand equipment and systems, and a comprehensive understanding of company and government standards and specifications for editing and formatting complex technical documents. A working knowledge of publication/page production software. Knowledge of markup languages and defense-related editing experience is preferred. High level of analytical ability to understand complex technical documents for the purpose of editing and rewording documents while still maintaining the desired meaning.

Skills Preferred:
MS Office Tools/Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint required; Access a plus). XML Authoring Tool Experience (e.g. Arbortext Epic Editor and Oxygen Software) Adobe Acrobat Professional PDF Software - proficient for use of illustration markups; or use of a similar PDF (electronic) markup tool. Content Management System (CMS) experience a plus. Ability to work with a diverse team in several physical locations via communicate tools (e.g. web-ex, skype, email, phone). Basic understanding of Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) functionality, development processes, and markup languages is preferred. Familiarity with relevant military standards.

Local Editor Reports to Director of Operations Primary Responsibilities To process all news items and articles for use in designated publications and website posting. Establish and build a local identity in accordance with AloNovus’s views and values. Establish and maintain good public relations representing AloNovus and its values in the communities we serve. Direct overall direction of local editions within assignment. Stay abreast of changes/events/happenings in the community that make for content congruent with AloNovus’s editorial guidelines and mission of local edition. Interact with the sales department regarding promotions and client news. Plan weekly news budgets. Keep a look out for “behind the story” features and news items that are not being reported by daily newspapers. Works within editorial space available to place the best editorial content in the publications. Oversee reporters and writers and make assignments based on editorial objectives and budget. Ensure stringers are meeting editorial deadlines and following AloNovus editorial guidelines for grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. Report to Director of Operations if there are any ongoing problems with writers and/or columnists. Communicate with writers and/or columnists to correct/clarify any editorial submission. Coordinate photo needs with the Photo Editor prior to deadline. Organize news items daily for input in Roxen and those items already placed in Roxen by other editorial team members. Edit stories and news items prior to print deadlines, so items are immediately available for online publishing, if necessary. Write headlines, kutlines, website summaries, complete taxonomies and attach photos from Roxen to articles. Proofread finished pages on deadline days, prior to final approval and submission to printer. Communicate with Copy Editor to ensure items are completed prior to deadline. Assist in typing news items, when necessary. Meet deadlines to insure smooth production flow. Work ahead on editorial submissions for early web posting. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
