Job Description

We're a small, successful videography and video production company in Silicon Valley. We work with corporations, non-profits, startups, and various Silicon Valley VIPs. We mainly shoot and edit interviews, commercials, promotional videos, corporate videos, real estate videos, livestreaming videos, and live events, although we also branch out to weddings, music videos, memorial videos, and almost anything else videography-related that our clients ask for. Check out our website and portfolio at: spiralmoon.com

We're looking to have an additional Shooter/Editor join our small team. We are looking for someone that's dedicated, passionate, hard-working, has great attention to detail, and a great attitude! Customer service is our number one principle, so the ability to work with and address the needs of all types of customers is key. The ability to learn and adapt quickly is also important, as well as having solid problem solving skills.

This is a really great opportunity for someone just out of school looking to get their foot in the door in this very difficult and highly competitive industry - or someone who has been freelancing for a while and is interested in being part of a really great team with consistent work. Spiral Moon Media is a growing company in a growing field, so there will be plenty of chances for advancement within the company and eventually, leadership opportunities.

As a Shooter/Editor, you will be working on site with clients to shoot video and provide direction to clients for promotional videos, interviews, and live events. This includes handling the audio, lighting, set design, and all aesthetics for the shoot. Providing clear direction to interviewees, clients, and any subjects in the video is key. You'll have to be able to communicate well with clients, both verbally and in writing, to understand their needs and turn their vision into reality. You'll need expert skills with the camera and understand lighting, composition, and depth of field - among other skills. Experience with a wide range of videography equipment (cameras, tripods, stands, grips, lights, mics, stabilizing equipment, etc) is a plus, although experience with Canon cameras is a requirement. Experience with drones and photography are also a HUGE PLUS. Experience creating shot lists from scripts/outlines is a huge plus. Experience with storyboards and script writing is a plus.

You will also need great editing skills with Adobe Premiere and the Creative Cloud (sorry, no FCP) on Windows. Color grading experience is required. Must understand workflow and be able to produce edited drafts in a timely manner. Familiarity with raw video workflow is a huge plus. Motion graphics experience (Adobe AfterEffects) and/or 3D graphics experience is a HUGE PLUS.

The ability to work well within a team is required. We often work in small teams of two or three, so everyone must know their part and be willing to help out in whatever capacity is required. The ability to handle solo shoots and work independently/problem solve is also required. A driver's license is also a plus (although not required) - a company car is available for shoots so you will not have to drive your personal car for most shoots.

This is a job that requires constant learning and the absorption of new knowledge, so the ability to learn quickly is a plus. Having a passion for this industry is a huge plus as it will allow you to absorb the knowledge much better. As this industry is always evolving, being able to learn new equipment/skills and evolve with the industry is important. Being aggressive is key.

A Bachelor's degree is required. A solid grasp of the English language is required to communicate well, being able to speak other languages (mainly Mandarin) and understand various cultures is a plus. Experience shooting and editing corporate videos is preferred.

This is a full time position and the pay will start between $3,350 to $5,000/month (+20% one-time referral fee from any projects/clients that you bring in) depending on your experience level and skill level.

No need for you to use your own gear - we have all the necessary equipment for our productions.

We're looking for someone ideally in the South Bay with a short commute.

To be considered, please send your portfolio/reel with promo videos examples (interviews with b-roll), resume, cover letter, and tell us why you would be a great fit for our team!
