We are currently hiring for all days and shifts (Sunday through Saturday). We have two shifts available; 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM and 3 PM to 8 PM. On many days you will not need to start as early as 7:30 AM (or 3:00 PM), but you need to have the flexibility depending on our client bookings. It is possible you will have downtime between visits. Many dog walkers and cat sitters use the downtime to work on their own personal/professional obligations. Generally, you will cover either the morning shift or the evening shift. We understand that dog walkers/cat sitters have obligations outside of work and work/life balance is a critical component for us! Did we mention this job requires you to play with puppies and kittens too? Many of our staff say this is the best job ever! (see below for more on that).

Some basic dog walking and cat sitting requirements:

  • We currently have openings for all days and all shifts (Sunday through Saturday)

  • US Citizen or legally authorized to work in the US for at least the next 12 months

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to apply

  • Able to pass a background check

  • Able to commit to this position for 1 year

  • Ideally, you will be available a minimum of 3 separate shifts a week.

  • This position requires availability the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas. As pet sitters, holiday availability is critical. Major holidays and weekends can represent peaks of demand for pet sitting services.

How much can I make?

Our pet sitters can make up to $500 to $1000+ a month while filling their dog, cat, puppy, and kitten-cuddling needs each week! We do believe with time, the position will have greater earning opportunity. For a motivated individual with flexibility and availability on your schedule, you can make more! Our staff has told us the "nowhere else do I get paid to play with dogs and cats" and "I love to learn the different personalities of all the animals"! We also have daily dog walking clients that can be added to your schedule if you are looking for greater opportunities. We also have a referral bonus, when an employee refers us to a new client.

What else do I need to know about dog walking and cat sitting?

If you like variety, this is a job where no two days are the same! We service mainly dogs and cats, but also have the occasional guinea pig, hamster, fish, and other small pets. Also please keep in mind that Jan's Pet Sitting really is one of the highest-rated and most established companies in California. We only hire the best because we are the best. Many members of our staff stay with Jan's Pet Sitting for many years. You must be able to uphold the quality standards that we have maintained since 1996.
