Do you meet the bulleted requirements listed below in bold? If so, skip to the end.

Does work from home have you burnt out?

Get let go from a job you hated?

Fresh out of college and have no idea what to do with your degree?

Studying for a grad degree and need to pay the bills?

Grow up with a family dog but can't have one here in The City?

Have a dog but don't have the time to give it the attention and exercise it needs?

Simply love our fluffy, shaggy, large and small four legged barking friends?

Then we sure do have an offer for you: walk dogs. Seriously, it'll change your life. Your mind will be opened and your soul unleashed. It's the best job you'll ever have. Keep reading!

We are always looking to meet quality candidates who could effectively lead off leash groups of dogs through parks and beaches with us. Teacher, dog trainer, coach, boot camp instructor, friend, confidant...we wear a lot of hats with these dogs, and sometimes they eat them! What we're looking for are people who'd fit our team well, who love dogs, who like being outdoors, who are responsible and caring, amiable and professional at work. If that's you, you're in.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Own your own SUV/van/wagon/truck? (Sorry no exceptions, unless you buy one. I wish we had company vehicles, but at least we pay a lot better than the companies that do!)

  • Live in SF, Daly City, Pacifica? (Sorry no BRIDGE commuters)

  • No previous experience required! Training and permits provided.

  • Do you LOVE dogs?

  • Athletic, energetic and looking to stay fit?

  • Have a smart phone and know how to use it?

  • Able to commit to a year or more?

  • Friendly, outgoing, and customer savvy?

  • Have extreme extreme patience?

  • Eager to learn? To teach?

  • Ready to become a professional at this job?

  • Are you a team player?

If you can rightfully answer "yes" to each and every of the preceding questions, stop what you're doing and apply now. These are all "must have" qualities to keep our company at the forefront of the industry. Even though these are seemingly basic, they are at the heart of what we do. Be not mistaken, we are top tier and need you to be too. We won #1 Dog Walking company in SF and #1 Dog Walker in the Bay Area in three separate publications, multiple years. We want you to help us keep kicking ass.

MONEY:

  • Trainee - $20/hr

  • Dogtoral Candidate - $20.50/hr

  • Puppy Professor - $21

  • Dean Of Dogs - $22/hr

After the one year mark you're eligible for salary:

  • $32,500 - $45,000 plus 15 days paid vacation each year!

Additionally, pet sitting and off hours walks can make you HUNDREDS in cash weekly. Read details below for more info.

(If you want to skip the deets and apply already just skip to the last paragraph!)

Money Details:

You shadow for a week, starting at $20/hr. Essentially you do nothing but ride along, meet the dogs and coworkers, work with your trainer at cafes, and learn the basics. Not bad at all.

Week #2 is a bit different. You start picking up your own packs of dogs and meet up with me and other staff at our walking locations - typically Crissy Field and the forest at the Presidio. You start keeping track of your mileage and will be reimbursed gallon for gallon. You learn. You're bumped up to $20.50 for 2nd leg of training, and after your training is complete, typically the first few months of employ, $21/hour and employee status, not independent contractor like some other jobs posted in the industry.

You'll get your dog walker certification and permit through us ($800-$1000 you don't have to spend) and you're ready to go.

The longer you stick with it, the more you involve yourself in our company mission, the more you demonstrate your willingness to work hard and grow professionally, the more you learn, the more you earn. Many people make salary before 1 year, and all positions will earn more as the company grows. There's training at every level, even at the top where we'll prepare you for leadership roles. It may seem like only a dog walking job, but things you learn here will undoubtedly serve you in subsequent jobs and careers.

On top of your daily shifts are near daily completely optional opportunities for private walks and pet sitting. Some choose to take on daily private walks, expanding on the general 6 hour day. Sometimes people just take one-off private walks. Pet sitting is routine and people can earn much more than just their regular pay by pet sitting, and it's the easiest money you've ever made.

Shift Details:

Typical shifts last five to six hours Monday-Friday, you start in the late morning and are home by early evening. If you want to have a second evening job this is perfect to take up all your afternoons. For us, there is no such thing as working nights, weekends, or holidays. However, good extra income is available to you through boarding, solo walks, and eventually private lessons on your own personal schedule as needed by our clientele. Most employees here eventually take on an ongoing private walk either before or after work to expand pay. If you can sit dogs you can make lots of cash.

Who We Are:

We are all roughly 20-35 years old. We get along great, going out for drinks after work sometimes, getting together for team outings, or just hanging out in the field every day with the dogs. I believe who you work with is one of the most important things in your life. You spend so much time at work you better love it. http://www.citizenhoundsf.com/the-team-1

**********Best Way To Apply***********

Most importantly include your telephone # so I can call! Even better, drop me a text or shoot me a call once you've sent your email to ensure I get back to you posthaste.

Please make sure you meet our bullet-pointed requirements, like having a vehicle and living in SF (or Daly City).

We look forward to hearing from you.

Our clients typically hire us while they are away on vacation which means some times of the year (holidays, summer, school breaks) we are VERY busy while other times we are steady.

Some clients hire us to walk and love on their dogs while they are work.

Job Description

Work with one of California's highest-rated and most established pet sitting & dog walking companies!

We are searching for a dog walker/cat sitter to add to our ever-growing employee-based team. The position is designed to be part-time and should be considered a supplemental source of income. This is the perfect part-time dog walking and cat sitting opportunity if you are looking to work with a variety of breeds and animals in a fun learning environment. This is an ideal position if you are looking to supplement your income, work while pursuing a degree, working as a freelancer, or looking to re-enter the workforce while working hands-on with animals.

For every member of our amazing dog walking/cat sitting team, we provide:

  • Competitive compensation

  • Training that will benefit you and your relationship with dogs and cats for a lifetime

  • Employment with our company vs. contracting positions like on-demand dog walking apps

  • Work as a dog walking and cat sitting team vs. competing with coworkers for work opportunities

  • Paid sick leave

  • Mileage reimbursement with paid travel time

  • Time and a half for major holidays (and a couple of extra!)

  • Liability insurance, bonding and workers compensation for your protection

  • Work with a locally owned and operated business

  • Positive work environment with one of California's most established and top-rated pet care businesses

  • Free puppy & kitten kisses

Our dog walkers and cat sitters come from all walks of life. Where do you come from?

Our staff includes those interested in artistic pursuits (musicians, writers, and artists), college students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees, teachers, retirees, mothers, fathers, and, of course, people looking to work with animals professionally. You do not need professional experience to apply but we are all animal lovers! All you need to have with you is a willingness to learn.

Here is what we ask you to do as a pro dog walker and pet sitter:

You will be providing pet sitting services for clients. You will be responsible for walking dogs, feeding, ensuring the well-being of our animal charges. Dog walks are done in the client's own neighborhood. We do not perform group/pack dog walks. We also do not perform off-leash dog walks. We also do all aspects of cat care including cleaning the litter box, feeding and playtime. You may need to give medication, but training is provided. We are currently hiring for all days and shifts (Sunday through Saturday). We have two shifts available; 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM and 3 PM to 8 PM. On many days you will not need to start as early as 7:30 AM (or 3:00 PM), but you need to have the flexibility depending on our client bookings. It is possible you will have downtime between visits. Many dog walkers and cat sitters use the downtime to work on their own personal/professional obligations. Generally, you will cover either the morning shift or the evening shift. We understand that dog walkers/cat sitters have obligations outside of work and work/life balance is a critical component for us! Did we mention this job requires you to play with puppies and kittens too? Many of our staff say this is the best job ever! (see below for more on that).

Some basic dog walking and cat sitting requirements:

  • We currently have openings for all days and all shifts (Sunday through Saturday)

  • US Citizen or legally authorized to work in the US for at least the next 12 months

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to apply

  • Able to pass a background check

  • Able to commit to this position for 1 year

  • Ideally, you will be available a minimum of 3 separate shifts a week.

  • This position requires availability the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas. As pet sitters, holiday availability is critical. Major holidays and weekends can represent peaks of demand for pet sitting services.

How much can I make?

Our pet sitters can make up to $500 to $1000+ a month while filling their dog, cat, puppy, and kitten-cuddling needs each week! We do believe with time, the position will have greater earning opportunity. For a motivated individual with flexibility and availability on your schedule, you can make more! Our staff has told us the "nowhere else do I get paid to play with dogs and cats" and "I love to learn the different personalities of all the animals"! We also have daily dog walking clients that can be added to your schedule if you are looking for greater opportunities. We also have a referral bonus, when an employee refers us to a new client.

What else do I need to know about dog walking and cat sitting?

If you like variety, this is a job where no two days are the same! We service mainly dogs and cats, but also have the occasional guinea pig, hamster, fish, and other small pets. Also please keep in mind that Jan's Pet Sitting really is one of the highest-rated and most established companies in California. We only hire the best because we are the best. Many members of our staff stay with Jan's Pet Sitting for many years. You must be able to uphold the quality standards that we have maintained since 1996.

Job Description

Company Overview

The Pet Sitter of Boise, LLC (TPS) is an established pet sitting company that began in 2003. TPS currently serves approximately 800 active clients in Boise, Meridian, Garden City, Eagle, Kuna, and East Nampa 365 days a year. We provide premium pet care in the pets'/clients' homes while clients are on vacation or working long hours. TPS employees are passionate about pets and their care. In addition, TPS demonstrates its dedication to the pets in the communities it serves by supporting non-profit animal rescue organizations.

Job Summary

As a member of The Pet Sitter, LLC's team, you will care for pets in our clients' homes while the humans are on vacation or working long hours. Depending on the pet and instructions from the client, care can include feeding, time outside, playtime, brushing, walking, administering medications, or other tasks.

Most pet visits last either 30 or 60 minutes according to each client's choice. Dog walks are visits of 30 or 60 minutes in the client's neighborhood. The Pet Sitter, LLC also provides overnight care and house sitting which are 12-hour visits from 7pm-7am or 8pm-8am.

Responsibilities and Duties

IMPORTANT: Also see Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities below.

A successful candidate will perform the following duties:

  • Feed pets per client instructions; provide pets with fresh water each visit, clean up after pets, exercise or play with pets, walk dogs, administer medications to pets, brush pets, water plants, collect mail, secure the home, and other general pet- and home-care tasks

We have placed a strong emphasis on providing all employees with a safe, positive working environment. Our staff goes through an onboarding process that prepares them to work with new animals. Most of the work this new employee will perform will be cat sitting. If you are assigned to work with a dog, please note we only offer private dog walks, no group walks. Jan's Pet Sitting gives you a fun opportunity to work hands-on with animals while also giving employees the skill sets that can lead to a professional animal-focused career. Demand for cat sitting and dog walking can be very high on weekends. That is why this position only requires availability Friday evening through Sunday evening. As it is a part-time (permanent) position, you will also not be working the entirety of that time. The position is designed to be part-time and should be considered a supplemental source of income.

The position:

  • Professional cat sitter with the ability to also work as a dog walker

The responsibilities:

  • Create a safe and positive walking environment for our client's dogs

  • Follow the client provided care instructions including training preferences

  • Provide detailed and attentive care for our client's cats

  • Give our clients first-class customer service with a personal touch

  • Communicate with staff via phone/text and photographs

The ideal candidate:

  • An honest, patient, and enthusiastic candidate, who can provide our client's dogs and cats with the highest quality visits possible. The candidate should have a strong understanding of safety and time management. Previous professional or volunteer experience with animals is preferred but a positive attitude with a desire to learn is just as important. The candidate should enjoy an active work environment, walking independently, working outdoors regardless of weather conditions. Special consideration for candidates with additional weekday availability, to work in a backup capacity.

  • This is an excellent opportunity for people looking to start a career or grow their current professional experience with dogs. The candidate should have an innate desire to care for animals while ensuring their safety.

The requirements:

  • Consistently available Friday evening through Sunday evening. You will not be working that entire time but you must be available to perform pet visits upon approved requests of the client.

  • This position requires availability the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas. As pet sitters, holiday availability is critical. Major holidays and weekends can represent peaks of demand for pet sitting services. This general availability must remain constant for at least 12 months.

  • The majority of tasks assigned will require you to walk or stand on your feet for several hours per day, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, walk up and down stairs; handle extra small and/or large dogs, and be able to lift up to 50lbs.

  • Comfortable walking up to two dogs at the same time

  • Clients often request feedings, removing and returning their dogs from a crate, puppy pad replacements, and litter box cleanings

  • You have previous customer service experience and are capable of communicating with clients, staff, and vendors in both written and spoken English

  • You are capable of working with little supervision

  • You have the patience and empathy to work with puppies and other animals with special needs and requirements (medical and behavioral concerns)

  • You must be 18 years or older and legally allowed to work in the US

Additional Perks:

  • Training that can benefit your relationship with animals for a lifetime
