This position, located in the City of Austin Office of Innovation will work with a team of designers, researches, analysts, and City staff staff to identify gaps and prototype service-oriented solutions for residents at risk of displacement and/or experiencing homelessness. The work performed by this position will include data analytics, performance measurements, and data architecture – all in service of sharing information and producing insights for decision makers. The data analyst will work with teammates, stakeholders, and community members to quickly generate data and results, and translate them into program and policy recommendations that inform implementation in other city departments. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to the job, plus three (3) years experience related to the job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated professional experience in data analysis, machine learning, data visualization, systems analysis, or policy analysis

  • Experience collecting, analyzing, synthesizing, and communicating both quantitative and qualitative data, including performance measures

  • Knowledge of City of Austin, state, and federal statues, ordinances and codes relevant to social services, housing, planning and related domains

  • Knowledge of methods for research, cost/benefit analysis, statistical analysis, and financial modeling

  • Experience in data architecture, including assessing the structure of data systems to share data and information

  • Interpersonal skills to engage all stakeholders and facilitate accurate requirements to capture and manage stakeholders’ expectations

  • Experience collaborating on multidisciplinary teams; flexibility and openness to adapting data gathering and analysis methods to fit the needs of a multidisciplinary team

Required Skills:

  2. Create solutions that deliver the awareness and insights teams need, in a way that is accessible, timely, and meaningful. Synthesize data outputs through the creation of reports and presentations that provide a coherent narrative about gaps and opportunities facing Escalation teams.

  3. Foster strong collaboration with technical and non-technical colleagues whose decisions will be informed by data analysis. Understand requirements facing each team, and inspire consistent and scalable solutions that fulfill those needs.

  4. Work closely with business intelligence analysts who will assess, interpret, and forecast based on the raw data produced by our operational instrumentation. Work in partnership to understand business requirements, anticipated questions, and insights needed to inform decision-making, and ensure our instrumentation is relevant and actionable.

  5. Identify data and tooling requirements in order to influence project prioritization and roadmaps.

  6. Provide data support for Escalation teams in critical escalations, as needed. Develop long term strategies to increase the organizations ability to efficiently and autonomously investigate escalations via self-service tooling and via coaching and mentoring that results in the upleveling of Escalation domain specialists.

  7. Please note that some weekend work and holiday work may be required on a shift basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BA/BS degree or higher in a technical field, i.e. data engineering, sciences, information science, economics, statistics, etc, or related technical experience.

  2. 3+ years of experience working in data infrastructure, data analysis, data support to operations, informational systems, online operations, or equivalent.

  3. Experience using SQL queries or R to perform advanced analysis.

  4. Experience communicating about data and data processes to non-technical stakeholders who are the users of systems involving metrics, pipelines, and workflows.

  5. Proven track record of breaking down processes and identifying key pain points and underlying causes in order to deliver business improvements at the regional or global level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience building and testing data flow pipelines

  2. Experience in producing data, processes, and underlying structures that feed into business intelligence analysis for operations teams (e.g. ETL)

  3. Experience in one of more of the following programming languages: Python, PHP or Haskell

  4. Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)

Summary of Role


  • This requirement is for the “Mapping and Compliance - Onshore” role

  • Provide production support for order enablement

  • Provide production support for Compliance

  • Provide solutions to complex business problems, while leveraging “industry best practices” via reports

Essential Responsibilities


  • Monitor reports to ensure enablement of order fulfillment

  • Perform ongoing data analysis to resolution issues and ensure shipping blocks are removed

  • Work with various stakeholders, ensuring business requirements are captured and met

  • Work directly with product engineers to communicate requirements and resolution issues

  • Input Compliance codes for various fabs

  • Work closely with the Compliance team to ensure timeliness and accuracy of data

  • Create attribute identifiers for forecasting

  • Create placeholders for entry into planning systems

  • Create strategic devices for planning

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety and Security requirements and programs



Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics or Computer Science or Information Technology or Supply Chain Management  or a related field

  • Demonstrated experience (Minimum of 2 years) in bill of material (BOM) analysis, yield and cycle-time analysis and data stewardship in Supply planning & execution domains.

  • Understanding the

    planning cadence for strategic and production 

  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, time management, and customer relationship skills

  • Good communication skills (includes oral & written) 

  • Language Fluency – English

  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL (or any query language)

  • Ability to quickly build relationships with department and other stakeholders
