Company Description

Our company began when Mr. Fred Astaire co-founded a chain of dance studios under his name, to make sure that his dance techniques could be preserved and passed onto the public... and on March 7th, 1947, the first Fred Astaire Dance Studio opened, at 487 Park Avenue in New York City. Since then, our network of worldwide dance studios has produced a wealth of amateur and professional dancers, who are the living embodiment of Fred Astaire’s style and grace. And since 1947, we have had the honor & privilege of improving the lives of our students, staff and everyone who is associated with our company, through the joy of lifelong dancing!

Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Morristown opened its doors in July 2007 under the direction of National Dance Board Member Gabriela Jileva. On going training and development, in business and dance, has lead to explosive growth in the company. We are currently accepting applications to add the to the award winning team.

Job Description

Dance Instructors needed for growing dance and music school with two locations in the Knoxville, Tennessee area.

.

Thank you for your interest in teaching positions with our school. I would like to give you an idea of our philosophy of teaching and our ideas on how our school can best meet the needs of our students and teachers.

.

If you are interested in applying for a teaching position after reading this and viewing our website, please finish this process by completing the application at https://www.angelafloydschools.com/employment/

No Phone Calls Please. Only suitable applicants will be contacted for an interview.

.

*School Background

Angela Floyd School for Dance and Music, LLC is a privately owned school that was founded in 1997. We have 2 locations in the Knoxville, Tennessee area.

.

We are Knoxville’s largest dance and music teaching school with over 700 students attending weekly classes between our 2 locations. We cater mainly to children. About 90% of our students are between 2 and 16 years old. We welcome adult students but our suburban market area has resulted in a student base of mainly children.

.

We realize that most of our students will not become professional musicians or dancers. We strive to provide a fun but educational environment with well-organized administration and first rate equipment and facilities.

.

Why teach with us?

There are several places you can teach music or dance around the Knoxville area. Why should you consider teaching with us?

.

As a dance teacher you have several different studios you can choose to teach in. If you have freedom to express your artistic style through your teaching, the main difference will be how the organization of the studio affects your satisfaction and ability to focus on your teaching.

Here are reasons why dance teachers choose to teach at our schools:

  • A Student Assistant is provided for you if your class enrollment is large.**

We offer this help for our teachers when needed so they can give more personalized attention to students.

  • Full time administrative support**

In many studios there is no receptionist on duty. This means that the teachers are faced with administration details when they should be concentrating on teaching. We have full time front desk administrative staff during class times to handle routine questions and details that arise.

  • Floating Marley dance floors in all studios**

We use professional floating Marley dance floors in all of our studios. Our dance floors rest on a system of 700 high density foam blocks. This dance floor helps prevent injuries and fatigue. A good quality floor is a consideration if you are going to be teaching for a few hours each day. A supportive quality floor allows you to protect your most important assets – your body and your ability to teach.

  • Extras are taken care of**

We try to take care of all of the extra details throughout the year. Teachers are not required to collect any fees or do any costume measuring. We have a full time administrative staff that takes care of all the Dance Spring Concert and Competition Company needs. We pride ourselves on having everything well organized so the teachers are free to concentrate on teaching and nothing else.

  • You will be paid on time every time

You will be an employee of AFS and will be paid every two weeks by auto deposit into your account. No more trying to collect your paycheck....it will be there waiting for you. Hourly rate is based on teaching experience.

.

Candidates must have an excellent and friendly personality, and love working with small children through adults.

.

A degree in dance is a plus, but advanced level training in a regional or professional dance company, university company, competition performance experience and or teaching experience is needed.

.

This is a contract position, for July 2020 - May 2021 with an option to extend the contract. Training can start as soon as you are hired.

.

We have over 700 students both recreational and competitive dancers that take class in classical ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, acro, and contemporary/lyrical.

.

We offer full-time office staff during all class times. Your responsibility is to instruct classes and choreograph group routines for performances. You will not be responsible for any office duties.

.

Teaching times are available between 8:30am - 9:30pm. Monday - Friday and Saturday 8:30am-2:00pm.

Apply online now at https://www.angelafloydschools.com/employment/
