  • Oversee grocery inventory management, including all receiving procedures and price adjustments
  • Manage the price labeling system for the shelving
  • Oversee placement of all product merchandising, batch sales and ad information throughout store
  • Prepare and transmit all grocery orders to specific vendors on a regular basis
  • Review invoices and purchase orders and negotiate with vendors for adjustments as needed   

Personnel

  • Assist the General Manager and the Assistant General Manager with employee supervision and training
  • Report key issues to General Manager and Assistant General Manager
  • Participate in and contribute to manager’s meetings

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music is looking for a Payroll Manager who can manage and oversee a complex payroll system that holds between 500 and 600 active faculty, staff and student employees who are passionate about their work at SFCM.  The incumbent will have the opportunity to project manage the upgrade of our payroll processes to meet 21st century standards and expectations (e.g. the migration from paper timesheets to online timekeeping).  The incumbent will also serve as an in-house authority on international tax treaties and how they apply to international student workers and visiting artists.  

Job Duties 
Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Administration, and working closely with our Senior Accountant, the Payroll Manager will process and audit semi-monthly payments for approximately 150 (summer) to 360 (Fall and Spring Semesters) staff, faculty, and student employees. The incumbent will enter employee data into the Payroll/HRIS system and maintain the payroll database for the entire organization.  The incumbent will also collaborate with Human Resources to ensure the integrity of the HRIS/Payroll database and compliance with local, state and federal labor laws regarding payroll; the Office of the Provost & Dean to ensure accurate payment for collegiate faculty; and the Office of the Pre-College and Adult Extension Division to ensure accurate payment for Pre-College and Adult Extension faculty.   The incumbent will audit payroll for accuracy; validate receipt of proper documents authorizing payment; maintain payroll files; correct invalid payments; and prepare manual checks between payroll processings as needed.  The Payroll Manager will serve as a Plan Administrator for our 403b Plan and enter employee deferrals and matches on the TIAA-CREF website every pay period.  The incumbent will also verify and process HSA Contributions.  The Payroll Manager will also issue Form 1042S for International Students and serve as the primary point of reference about international tax treaties and payments to international student employees and visiting artists.  As with most jobs, the Payroll Manager will perform other duties as needed. This is a full-time position (35 hours/week) that offers employer sponsored health and welfare benefits and competitive pay commensurate with experience.  As needed, SFCM will provide training opportunities to ensure that the Payroll Manager is up-to-date on best practices.  

Requirements     
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in payroll processing, with the ability to process and safeguard confidential information, and prior experience with payroll systems and data entry (experience with Paylocity is a plus).  As a key partner to Human Resources, the Office of the Provost & Dean, and the Office of the Pre-College and Adult Extension Divisions, the incumbent will come into contact with and be required to hold confidential information regarding pay and other personnel matters.  Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn about international tax treaties and how they apply to international students and visiting artists is desirable.  Success in this position requires excellent math skills, the ability to communicate with a diverse group of employees, attention to detail, and strong customer service orientation.  Reliability, honesty, transparency, and accountability are highly desirable qualities. This position requires long periods of time in front of a desktop computer.

JOB SUMMARY:  This is a part time position for on-site membership sales. The primary responsibility of this position is to promote and sell memberships on-site to zoo visitors before they enter the zoo by tabling outside the main and lower entrances. Responsibilities will also include providing excellent customer service to current members, collecting payment for new and renewing members, and providing breaks for membership booth staff. Please note this position is required to work both Saturdays and Sundays, all holidays, and our ideal candidate would be available for some weekday shifts. The typical workday for this position will be 9:15 am – 2:15 pm. This position is also required to uphold the mission and values established the East Bay Zoological Society (the “Zoo”) and adhere to policies and procedures as set forth by the Zoo.     

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Promotes Membership program through welcoming zoo guests as they arrive at the main or lower Zoo entrance, explaining member benefits and offering membership as an option for zoo entry. Engage guests as they leave the zoo, promoting membership as an option for their next visit. 
  2. Checks in current members through either the main or lower Zoo entrance. 
  3. Collects cash, checks, or credit cards for payment of memberships or other assigned roles. 
  4. Maintains accurate account of receipts in cash register and on paper record. 
  5. Maintains supplies and resources as needed. 
  6. Assists with mailing and clerical tasks as needed. 
  7. Demonstrates superior customer service with customers, both internal (i.e. co-workers) and external. 
  8. Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports, the East Bay Zoological Society’s mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and codes of behavior.

Duties and Responsibilities:    

Data management of compound data: 

Preparing data from suppliers and clients to import into the system; 

Providing day to day support (in conjunction with colleagues from other CM sites) for the inventory databases; 

Liaise with Operations and Suppliers about problems with the data stored about the compounds; 

Develop workflows and SQL scripts as required by the business to import and export data for Operations and our Clients; 

Preparing SQL scripts to validate data and ensure data consistency, correcting data where necessary; 

Document processes and improvements to the system; · 

  • Support directly or indirectly the software developers creating the interfaces (web and web service) and support the testing of these systems. 
  • Develop and use KNIME workflows, SQL and other tools to support repeatable loading and export of data in support of the compound management function. · Support the implementation of software and system upgrades and provide support for servers and instrument software related to inventory system. 
  •  Interact with colleagues from Evotec Project Management, Operations, Software Development, Accounting departments and other Compound Management facilities, to rapidly satisfy customer needs, provide sound solutions to customer issues, and solve business problems
  •   Provide various levels of project support (including, but not limited to, data entry, validate and confirm data for goods received, data generation and/or tracking and review) for fulfillment of client orders.
  •  · Be the technical point of contact in client discussions and gather requirements for themselves or others to deliver the requested functionality. 
  • Report generation and limited end-user support     
  • Required Qualifications:    
  •  Effective technical, communication, analytical, negotiation and teamwork skills 
  •  Excellent project coordination 
  •  Ability to work independently and handle multiple deadlines and associated pressures 
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail · Relational database and SQL experience 
  • Use of workflow tools for data manipulation (e.g. KNIME, Pipeline Pilot) 
  • Experience dealing with clients
  •  Experience supporting software systems 
  • Experience working with Web Application and Web Service interfaces 
  • Experience with data manipulation and transformation 
  • Software development experience (preferably Java)     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience or education in scientific field 
  • Use of KNIME for data processing and report generation 
  • Experience of working with or supporting Titian Mosaic  
  • Experience of working in a compound management or inventory management environment 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office for report generation 
  • An awareness of organic chemistry structural representations, including stereochemistry and bond types 
  • An understanding of chemical databases, structure drawing, and structure manipulation software (e.g. ChemAxon, Cambridgesoft, Biovia)     

Education and experience:    

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or in a related life science with technical database or software development experience, or equivalent biotech or pharma experience.

Employees must adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Employees must be able to use good judgment and effectively deal with difficult situations, multiple demands and changing priorities.   Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as early mornings, occasionally on an as-needed basis is required. Some of the work will require liaising with staff at European sites (hence early mornings). Some travel may be required.

Major Duties:

 The primary responsibilities for:

  • Receive, open, time stamp, review, and distribute by function all incoming mail and faxes. Review mail and determine if it should be brought to immediate attention of the supervisor and what should be given to other members of the staff. 
  • Prepare and assemble documents; legal documents experience helpful but not require. 
  • Establish and maintain a variety of files and documents, correspondence, and other material; cross-reference files when necessary. 
  • Search for, assemble, and summarize pertinent information from various sources (e.g., files and documents in the office and from outside sources, manual logs, software programs, and/or the Internet) based on general or specific instructions as to the nature of the information wanted and its purpose or for the purpose of preparing recurring statistical reports reflecting case load, and other managerial reports for Management Team.  
  • Assist in the providing of such services as printing, photocopying, shredding, and replacing of toner and paper in office equipment. Also assist in performing minor maintenance on office equipment and requesting services for its repair and maintenance.
  • Keep assigned calendars. This includes scheduling appointments; maintaining a daily suspense list of commitments; and reminding staff of scheduled conferences, appointments, conference calls, deadlines, and meetings to ensure that commitments are met. 
  • On own initiative, compose and prepare routine correspondence of a non-technical routine nature with little or no supervision from Management.

 Job Summary

The Accounting + Admin Assistant is managed by the Accounting Manager and performs a variety of duties that support the needs of the Accounting, Human Resources, Student Services, and Admissions Departments.    

This is a hybrid position in which the assistant will split their day between Accounting and Human Resources duties along with office and facility maintenance. Accounting and Human Resources activities may include but are not limited to processing daily student transactions, general human resources support, and coordinating and communicating with students, the Student Services Manager, and/or the Admissions Department. Office and facility maintenance activities may include but are not limited to managing and scheduling repairs, ordering office supplies, and ensuring a safe and organized work environment.

This position requires a strong understanding of mathematics, payment processing, time management, planning, and scheduling. ● Process student cancellations, terminations, leaves of absence, transfers, and returns 

● Process student refunds through online credit card system or by check and record in QuickBooks Online

● Maintain student payment plan database and monthly credit card processing 

● Follow-up with students regarding declined payments 

● Take care of monthly invoices and contracts generated by Department of Rehabilitation 

● Process all payments via check scanner, credit card, or online bank deposits 

● Oversee receipt of sales receipts from all locations, record in QuickBooks, and reconcile discrepancies 

● Oversee bill pay, investigate and resolve questionable bills, and record all payments and credit card charges in QuickBooks Online 

● Reconcile petty cash, monthly 

● Prepare checks in QuickBooks Online for reimbursement of mileage, expenses, and CEUs  

● File CEUs in employee personnel file

● Shred old accounting files and file prior year’s files at beginning of new year 

● Plug holiday hours into TimeClock Plus

   o Schedule maintenance and repairs with vendors o General cleaning, such as picking up debris, removing cobwebs, washing and drying dish towels, monitoring and restocking bathrooms  

   o Ensure facility is clean and in working order for first day of classes and special events 

● Maintain office equipment and monitor office and classroom furniture for wear and tear; coordinate repairs, replacement, and removal; communicate changes with staff and coordinate new equipment trainings as necessary 

● Manage contracts with copier, postage meter, and cleaning companies; call if service was unsatisfactory & schedule deep cleanings  

● Order & stock office, facility, and classroom supplies 

● Address staff requests regarding office and classroom needs 

● Manage classroom rental inquiries and contracts 

● Manage sale of furniture we no longer use (e.g., via Craigslist); handle all inquiries and receipt of payments

Math Tutor/Instructor

Then become a Mathnasium Math Instructor! Mathnasium, the Math Learning Center, is now hiring for our Alameda location! We teach in a way that makes sense to students in 2nd through 12th grade. Join us for the opportunity to make a REAL difference in a child’s life by helping to develop a love for math! We offer part-time jobs with flexible scheduling and ongoing training opportunities.  Advancement into management positions is available for top performers. 

Required Qualifications:  

  • Available at least 2 days per week
  • Solid math skills through Geometry and Algebra II
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to professionally interact with students
  • Energetic and confident personality

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Previous teaching experience or other experience working with students
  • Organizational skills to tract student progress
  • Ability to learn our software for running the business
  • Sales and customer service experience
  • Leadership and management skills

Our Schedule  

  • Mon - Thurs: 3pm to 7pm
  • Sat: 10am to 2pm

Camelback Holistic Preschool is Arizona’s first Holistic preschool. We focus on offering every student an exceptional personalized, developmentally and culturally appropriate education, which fosters social/emotional, intellectual, and physical growth while providing a foundation for a life-long love of learning. We are currently looking for a part-time teacher assistant. If you are passionate about positively impacting the lives of others, and making a difference in the field of early childhood, this important role might be right for you!   

Some of the exciting things that you will do include, but are not limited to:   • Make a difference every day! • Assist the teacher with the operation of the school, ensuring that the school is operating in accordance with company policy and state licensing standards. • Be responsible for ensuring an educational, caring, and safe environment for children and parents. • Spark imagination, build self-esteem, and help children discover new things each day. • Teach, educate, and monitor children as needed. • Assist the teacher in planning and preparing lessons. • Promote a positive image of the company and play a major role in making the company the provider of choice in educational programs for the community we serve.   

Minimum Qualifications: • At least six months of early childhood education experience required, with an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and the ability to ensure its use in the classroom. • A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day. • Excellent administrative, organizational, verbal, listening, and communication skills required. • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain. • Level one fingerprint clearance card or willingness to obtain. • Clear TB test within the past 12 months (can be obtained prior to starting). • Must meet state specific guidelines for the role. • Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors. Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, engage in physical activity with children, and be on your feet and moving the majority of the day. • Ability to speak, read, and write English.   

Preferred Qualifications • Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent     The right candidate will be energetic and experienced in developing safe, fun, and nurturing environments for children and their families. Since children's needs are constantly changing, you must also be highly organized, flexible, and able to demonstrate compassion and patience at all times.   This is a pivotal role—your contributions will help shape children's lives. For this reason, the ideal candidate will have a true desire to grow their career in early childhood education. We maintain the highest standards of quality care and education, and believe strongly in developing talent and supporting our staff every step of the way.
